First taste of psycho parent this season at SSA today. SSA Mom yelling at her kid and the ref so loud, I thought it was an angry drill sargeant. A few times, she fast-marched down from where the parents were, almost on to the field, to yell at her son or the ref, or some opposing players. What a nut-job. The game was spirited and very physical (soccer is a contact sport, folks), but no cheap shots or whistles in the first half...until the ref started calling everything in the second half, which frustrated the players, and seemed to blow her mind. Every whistle was an affront, if it went against her sugardumpling's team, which lead to more psycho-parent antics.
As the season unfolds, I know I'll get to see parent behavior higher on the psycho-scale, but this was my psycho parent of the day....tall blonde u15 CL2 SSA Mom, a little too serious, and...actualparent's "psycho parent of the day" nominee.
For what it's worth, I have received the same award for far worse behavior, as have several of my friends whose kids are on other clubs....
Remember, everyone, lighten up. Your teenage kids cringe when you embarrass them in public.
Now that I see we can put videos in our posts, I'll try to record the psycho parent auditions going forward.

Posting videos of these displays could be epic! I have had a theory that the intensity of these displays is inversely proportional to the importance of the event (e.g., such behavior is way worse during u9 3rd team matches than during a match that is clearly for 1st place in Classic 1). Would like to collect data that supports or refutes this proposition.

Zizou, You are correct in your theory. I bet you even know why as well. Those U-9 parents are the "uninformed voters" (many not all) of the soccer world. People are very dangerous when they are under the impression that they know what they are talking about, when in actuality their real knowledge and understanding of the game is that of a first grader compared to the knowledge of a 60 year old. (I was going to say a PHD but even that doesn't necessarily mean you are smart.)

Charging up the smartphone as I type....one last chance to see some more parent lunacy this fine afternoon.
So far, the actualparent psycho parent of the week is the woman who encouraged her kids to hurt the other kids. That goes to the top.
Anyone else, please contribute, but keep contributions current - no old stories. We've all seen idiocy in the past (arrests, parents fighting, etc.), but an award system requires fresh content. Please include venue and gametime, so others can comment, and the perpetrators can feel like idiots, as they should, if indeed they visit this forum.

OK. It is almost a draw. My kid’s Sunday game didn’t have any psycho parent antics, so I have no awesome contribution to the board today. I give a 4-star rating for RYSA u15 CL2 parents at GSA today for good behavior. There were some chirps, so they don’t get a 5-star rating, but the GSA parents don’t get a 5-star either, for the same chirping. But actualparent has to deliver…a major award by Tuesday evening Nominee in first place: - Without video or anyone substantiating what I write, I am nominating the psycho parent of the week to tall blonde SSA u15 Boys CL2 psycho mom, not so much for what she does or says, but that the sound of her scares the poo out of the kids on her team and makes them play worse. yay SSA psycho mom…Your kid is begging you to stop going to his games, and please stop acting like a jackass.
Nominee in second place: - Submitted by “Spectator”: Mom ejected from game for profanity and telling players to hurt the other team.Spectator – let’s have details (venue, gametime, teams) to identify this problem parent. That additional information would put that real psycho mom atop this week's leaderboard.
If anyone else has good material, please reply here to actualparent's psycho parent award thread. Your favorite can't win here unless I hear about it. Thanks for keeping it clean and tidy. actualparent

No other nominees for "psycho parent of the week"? Please, say it isn't so. I will grant the award tomorrow evening. For contributors, the rules are simple: - stick to the facts, leave the editorial to me. If the club has a history of parent idiocy, start a different thread...this is an awards show for the worst parent, not the worst club
- include actual venue, game time, name of team, and a description of the parent and his/her actions
- video would be great
- comments from other witnesses would be great as well
Remember, the purpose of this is to - unapollogetically - publicly shame the truly pathetic parents that ruin soccer for their kids and everyone else. It can be so nice until the psycho parent arrives and goes crazy. Then it sucks, for everyone.

Pretty sedate all things considered at our matches. The occasional unfortunate complaint about offsides calls and physical play but nothing outlandish. Pleasantly surprised.

OK folks....
I'm sorry, Spectator, the mom you reported was probably worse, but we demand details to publicly shame the idiots that behave like this. So.....
....the inaugural Psycho Parent of the Week goes to SSA Chelsea West U15 Classic 2 Boys Mom! Saturday, Sep 28 at MudCreek at 10:10am! This is a tall blonde psycho charging the field to yell at her kid, the refs, and the whole other team, and the other team's parents. Unless she's a felon, or under psychiatric care, she has a legal right to carry a firearm, too.
An absolute embarrassment to her son, and her son's club. What an idiot.
Please publicize this. I'm sick of other parents acting like a**holes at kid's soccer games. Really.

Oops. Sorry. Non soccer world interfered with my life here.
I'll take the loss and cough up the details (and video) next time.
