Good. Everything i hear from fellow coaches that are from South America or Europe is we take to much time off or try to play to many sports. If they really love the game and want to be at the top then year around is the only way to compete. Soccer isn't like baseball or football that kids can master in HS to make college/pro teams.

I think it's good but be wary of burnout.
Some kids have it in them and can't get enough.
Some appear to carry the pressure great, then they suddenly break and quit the game.

Could be great, but as a parent of a girl with two high ankle sprains in 2 years, we are taking a break this winter . Doing gym work to stay in shape.

My kids train year round. But off season we do small sided soccer such as futsal or 3v3 to keep it different. I know kids that dont train year round and you can see a difference when they come back after time off

Another con for year round play is the increase in repetitive use injuries. Someone linked an article here once, I believe. Surgeons are performing ACL repairs and Tommy John's procedures(for baseball) at younger and younger ages because of the increase in training. How many are truly going to become elite professional athletes? The race to get ahead at these younger ages is out of control. That being said, my daughter does train year round, lol--her choice. We do let her miss games/training sessions in the off season if something she wants to do comes up. We don't miss anything and it's the #1 priority during the regular season.
