On the one hand, you are correct they have been shockingly mediocre for essentially their entire existence. And they lost their best player to UNC before season started because she wanted to play at a higher level than UGA was capable.
On the other hand, this particular squad has defeated two ranked teams so far this year (South Carolina and Missouri). Kentucky is even a ranked team. We will see if they can be a threat in the SEC this season. They do have skilled players, and many Georgia girls on their roster. When I have watched them play I have not been impressed that the team has a high soccer IQ despite their obvious individual skill.
