its hard to take this out on her, but seems like the 2 of them need to start making better judgement...... i guess to be a keeper you need to be a little crazy!! Well I'm a keeper and I'm not crazy nor made poor life decisions TMZ has additional elements to the story- claiming Hope was belligerent to the cops and they pulled the dreaded "don't you know who we are?" line. www.tmz.com/2015/01/20/ex-nfl-star-jerramy-stevens-arrested-los-angeles-hope-solo/?adid=hero5I'm going to guess one of the following scenarios occurred: 1. Given Hope's "relationship" in the past with alcohol, she was worse off than her husband so he elected to drive 2. If she wasn't impaired she certainly made a poor decision to allow her husband to drive impaired. 3. Since they pulled the "don't you know who we are" line, that must mean they are A list celebrities and as such could certainly afford car service or a taxi. so again her decision making is in question- as I said above trouble seems to follow her around. Given she was just acquitted of domestic violence this week, it would benefit her to stay out of trouble.

Her sense of entitlement is insane. I'm sure this won't be the last time.

It seems that alcohol may be a problem for Hope. Each time she and her husband have legal issues alcohol is involved.

Her father had substance/alcohol issues so I'm sure Hope has a genetic predisposition to potentially go down that path, combined being married to someone that has similar issues apparently seems like a recipe for disaster.
At the minimum US Soccer should mandate she get help, it seems there is a pattern of behavior going on that needs an intervention.

Its pretty sad....lots of girls look up to her. She did have a rough childhood and I guess one can choose to continue down that path or want something different for themselves. I don't think this marriage is good for her, I think we all remember the photos of the wedding with all their bruises from the day before

I accidentally hit dislike while meaning to like the comment. I couldn't undo it. Sorry. Soccer mom and Soccerhouse both make good points. Hope Solo is one of the most admired players on the team. Girls look upto her, but her personal life isn't anything to look up to. I agree, this marriage isn't good for her. They bring out the worst in each other, and both probably have an alcohol problem. They clearly have an attitude problem and a sense of entitlement. Considering this was the husband's second or third DUI, you have to wonder why Hope didn't drive, unless she'd also been drinking. She is in LA for the team camp as the WNT gets ready for the World Cup. Why the need to be out drinking? Hope needs to get herself together. The US needs her in top form. This WC isn't going to be a cake walk. We won the gold in London because Hope had an amazing game. Something needs to be done both for Hope and for the team.

It looks like the suspension is a result of her belligerent attitude during her husband's arrest. She needs the suspension for both sides to figure out who the keeper will be in Canada this summer.

Don't bite me...But...Hope Solo's off field life challenges as compared to Luis Suarez biting escapades on the field...conjure up for me thoughts that perhaps, while the soul of an athlete knows how to survive in certain places, maybe it becomes like a wild animal in others...and while we may feel it within our breathing space to cross examine its choices...maybe....just maybe....these souls should be allowed to put in an appearance and self-reflect, or self-destruct...just my reflection here. People hurt. Athletes hurt.

I agree she needs to get her crap together but I don't know if I agree with her getting suspended for something her husband did. Guilty by association....

I agree she needs to get her crap together but I don't know if I agree with her getting suspended for something her husband did. Guilty by association.... A few more details have emerged: -she was belligerent towards the cops and apparently was almost arrested herself for resisting/obstruction. - this occurred at 1:30am in the morning while the team is in training camp - she returned to her hotel room and didn't tell anyone- Jill Ellis and US Soccer officials found out via the TMZ report - she was just acquitted of domestic violence seven days prior from what I understand the 30 day suspension is just an initial step and can be extended, she was given stipulations (I assume no drinking, late nights, etc) in addition that she must follow in order to be reinstated.

Hope wasn't suspended because her husband got a DUI. She wasn't some innocent bystander. She was belligerent and nearly arrested herself. I don't know the rules for the WNT training camp, but maybe they expect that you don't drink to excess, stay out late and get into a confrontation with the police. Maybe, too, they see an issue with Hope and are giving her some time to get some help.
There are athletes who manage to stay out of trouble. Most of them do.

just listened to the great foudy, the team was pissed that she went back to the hotel that night and didn't tell the team! they found out the next day by watching TMZ. i bet leadership and the girls were pissed off! "The source told espnW that team officials were furious they had to find out about the incident from a TMZ report, not directly from her, and that it happened during camp." espn.go.com/espnw/news-commentary/article/12207715/hope-solo-suspended-30-days-us-soccer

Im just worried now that in this time off she will get in even more trouble...we need her in good health and with her head together by WC I think Hope Solo is done. They need to move on. Not sure she gives them best chance to win at this stage of her career (read: in this stage of deterioration as a regular decent member of society)

Hope is 33 years old, if she doesn't "get it" now that's a problem, this is probably her last chance at a WC, if that's not a catalyst for change nothing is. For all her abilities and her hating to be compared to the 99er's, they won two WC's, Hope hasn't won one yet.

only 30 days, the leaders on this team have to be disgusted with her.
time to cut the ties, give ashlyn harris a chance.

Wow....it definitely changes things I'm going out on a limb and say Hope was entrusted with the van, no way her husband would be allowed to drive a US Soccer vehicle, as I mentioned before Hope was probably worse off and that's why he drove. Since Hope is from Washington they were probably watching the Seahawks game and partying. Just a guess

The question now is....
why would you entrust her with the US soccer van??? those two have plenty of money to acquire themselves a ride, preferably a driver since they both love to drink
