It's a shame really, that forum has been around for close to 10 years and thesee last two have been the worst. I used to contribute a bi-monthly podcast to the forum years ago to promote some positive discussion and the negativity just turned me off so I stopped. I'm pretty sure many on that forum don't even know the persons/ subjects they are talking about, they just want to troll and agitate people.
Its unfortunate that you have current/former club, college, ODP, HS coaches that actually want to contribute something positive but they get bashed or trolled....but that's why we have an alternative here.

As far as the other forum, I stopped going there a year ago. It was completely out of control then so I'm sure it's progressed into a full blown meltdown now. This forum gives me more information without the silly character assassinations and false rumors. Sometimes there was good information there but it was so few and far between and you had to go through alot of garbage just to find it. |

In between all the crap in the other forum sometimes and that's a big sometimes you can find information. But definitely everything one reads there needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

I agree! He needs the "Representing TopHat with class" award under his avatar! Always provides great insight. As far as the other forum, I stopped going there a year ago. It was completely out of control then so I'm sure it's progressed into a full blown meltdown now. This forum gives me more information without the silly character assassinations and false rumors. I know Tophat gets a bad rap from time to time due to perceived over exuberance of a minority of parents, having coached at a couple of big clubs in Atlanta, I can assure you its the same everywhere, not sure why Tophat gets magnified so often. Same with coaches, I know most of the DOC's and "name" coaches that get talked about often, some of the characterizations are often valid while others are way off base. As a coach put aside wins/losses, the biggest measure of a coach for me is the positive impact and life lessons they convey to their players, surprisingly many players don't get those messages at home, coaches and teachers can full that void, that's what I try to impart on my players. |

Your comment about TH getting a bad rap because of a few parents made me wonder if the same is true over at the other forum. People can get obnoxious when accountable to no one, but I think that it's just a handful of people that are ruining that forum. One person seems to have mastered the one line for an entire page. A few more make outrageous political comments, and a few more are involved in coach,non-Ecnl, Ecnl, Tophat (or name the club) bashing. Unfortunately, they are so active there's not much room for anything else. |

Creating "safe" spaces within which a community can engage is important. And every such space needs a facilitator or two....where we can listen to each other and ask open and honest questions, engage in free discussion, hear each other which might seem like a task to some...the cacophony that exists in the particular space that is the subject of this thread undermines any form of discipline of listening to each other in a socially acceptable way. That is why I have not looked back since I looked away from that space.  |

that's the problem... you keep thinking of this place as THE forum. There are other alternatives for Georgia Soccer discussion.
This place is merely A forum, and honestly it's not even really a forum, technically speaking.
It really operates more like writing on a roll of toilet paper. You just keep unrolling it and writing stuff, and the old stuff falls to the floor and mixes in with the filth there.
You sometimes look at the new stuff, sometimes at the old stuff, but you find it hard to tell the difference between the stuff people wrote and the crap it picked up off of the floor.

First Thank you to whomever typed in the name of THIS forum on the "other" forum or who knows how long it would have taken to discover you on my own.
Second Thank you for your open respectful diverse range of topics and opinions
I have been "registered" on the forum for all of 30 minutes and have already learned more here than I have sitting 3 years on the "competitive" soccer sidelines.
