Any info and advice appreciated. My daughter received a nomination and we hope to hear about tryouts soon, can anyone tell me the difference in this and ODP. My daughter is nervous about this and was wondering what to expect and how to showcase herself. She had a bad experience at ODP of being grouped w/ a bunch of girls that knew each other so they only played pass the ball to each other so her tryout experience was disappointing. She loves soccer and wants the opportunity to play with top notch players and has been frustrated lately with some of her team mates lack of commitment to the team / sport and non-desire to play more competitively. I really am not sure if she wants to play in good college, but maybe just the chance that she could if she chose this later is a motivation right now. I would prefer that she pick a school she likes academically and if she gets the opportunity to play, all the better. I am not driven by scholarships as I have been down that path with my older daughter and academics and college experience are more important than just getting the money. Any advice or comments appreciated.

I have never heard of PDP, but congrats to her! Is your daughter in an ENCL club? I just did some quick reading and it seems that's where they scout from? and seems like another type of ODP program. Maybe someone else here can offer more info
Im sorry she had a bad experience with ODP :-(

If it's Ecnl PDP, each conference has a weekend where the top players from the conference are invited to play. The Southeast Conference will hold their PDP (Player Development Program) in March. I haven't heard that the invitations have gone out, and in the past they haven't gone out until a few weeks befor the event. This years PDP will include players born in 96 to 99.
I am wondering if this is some thing else. It seems that I've heard of an event (maybe called PDP) for younger girls. It seems it was held in Raleigh, but don't hold me to that. It wasn't put on by Ecnl.
Congrats soccerenthusiast. Let us know how it goes.

That you get to do tournaments and stuff, again they heard it from someone else. Let us know how it goes!! Good luck!!!

Does your daughter's team play in the US Club Soccer NPL League? If not, one of their scouts saw her at another game, or event and she was sent an invitation. US Soccer Club's NPL is a relatively new league, and most teams in it play for more than one league. I don't know much about it, but have some friends whose kids have played in it. At any rate, congratulations and good luck to your daughter. www.usclubsoccer.org/programs/player-identification/pdp/

Thanks her coach nominated her after being asked about recommendations to this program. He only nominated a couple girls so we are extremely flattered. If anyone has had a child go to this, what recommendations would they give to her about tryouts.

I suggest she relax and just try to play like the result matters. Many kids do well at short tryouts by playing ME ME ME soccer, but I know a couple coaches who profess to be able to see through that, and identify quality even if you aren't trying to be the center of attention.
Clearly, one on one skills are an asset, and those need to be demonstrated, but field/team awareness are highly valuable. Go out and have fun with (hopefully) a new group of like minded, and skilled players.
Cool opportunity.
