RM coached there before as well as Wofford college. His wife is from the area. That is more likely why they went back. Don't assume!

We haven't received any correspondence concerning mergers or dissolution of mergers from the club. I think the club realized that the initial vision behind the TYSA/GSA merger wasn't implemented as effectively as it could have been and were making changes to move things in the right direction.
It appears that the changes will not have the opportunity to come to fruition if the merger ends following the spring season.

So does TYSA go back to being just TYSA. Will most of their top players on older teams remain at GOL or GSA? will the GOL name be a thing of the past?

based on the letter that they circulated before i would think so??
"Earlier this month, TYSA’s Board of Directors unanimously voted to terminate our business relationship with the Gwinnett Soccer Association (GSA). This will result in the dissolution of the Gol Soccer Academy following the end of the spring soccer season."

For U13 and up, players from GSA and TYSA were mixed together. I suspect most of those teams will stay at GSA.
For academy, the teams remained separate (Lilburn and Granite). However, stronger TYSA players were pushed towards Lilburn. So many academy kids left from Granite after last year (to rec or other clubs) that I think it will be difficult to start the program anew. Younger boys teams are stronger than the other teams so maybe TYSA will start there.

I'm guessing "Gol Soccer Academy" will remain if GSA is able to merge with another entity. The club wanted a broader name rather than confining themselves (real or perceived) to one county based on the name alone.
I suspect Gol will remain in any event.

I hear RYSA is next. And I hear at least some RYSA parents are pretty upset about it.

For some reason I think Rysa and gsa makes sense. Really not that far apart - it's affording top players more opportunity in the long run. Just need to take baby steps and not push the younger kids to switch to stronger partner clubs. Really no reason to do it at younger ages.

Keeper have you heard any more about a GFC/GSA merger/alliance? I heard talk of GSA adding some Gwinnett County fields in the fall which makes it sound likely that a merger/alliance is in the works. I don't think GSA would have access to those fields on their own. Looking at the TYSA website, it looks like they're going alone rather than forming an alliance with Chiefs. I guess starting over (again) looks more attractive to them than being involved with other nearby clubs. Talk of GSA & RYSA seems to have died down a bit on the other forum after RYSA's DOC moved on. I wonder if that alliance will happen?

Gsa and RYSA is in the same boat, rysa board realized gsa just wants to use them for their fields and players. Lots of tampering/recruiting violations have supposedly been reported to GaSoccer against gsa this year, so it'll be interesting the next few months. TYSA and chiefs never had any momentum, tysa actually wanted the ncnabs to come back and run the program but wanted them to retire the chiefs name and use TYSA since they think that name actually stands for something still. Craziness. Speaking of crazy, I heard last weekend chiefs would be interesting in taking GFC over if the doc jumps ship to gsa or takes the Brookwood Varsity job. It would double there fields, directly allow them access to players that might head to gsa and be a bridge to their Archer program.

I think GSA has shown us all how not to conduct a merger... its a shame because they clearly have some strong teams on both the boys and girls sides. first question i would ask if i was rysa/gfc is how is this going to be different than your GOL mergers? RYSA could have something to gain if done properly, you become a part of ecnl, problem is all that will actually mean is your top girls will no longer train in conyers but rather have to drive to lilburn to train with existing gsa teams.

Maybe GFC should be wary of Chiefs too? Does GFC not think they're viable on their own anymore?

GFC has a lot of friends and former coaches at chiefs which is why that kind of got started. Biggest issue for GFC is the doc is done, he's lost the girls program and doenst know/want to rebuild it. I've still got a lot of friends and former players/parents at GFC and they still want to fight it's just hard when the people in charge dont.
