the quote: "You beat a team 6-0, 7-0, you don't, as a coach, analyze that game. You certainly don't as a player analyze that game," said Ellis, whose team won five games by at least five goals last year. "You go into a game that's a hard-fought battle, that's a game where the microscope comes down. Ultimately you learn more about your team when you go against a really strong opponent." this comment seems odd to me for a few reasons. - i get it, its hard to over evaluate a big win against a crap team and you typically don't put much stock in the result, but she doesn't analyze that game?? But, as a team you have to develop an identify and style of play. thats why you analyze that game, if you are a possession team and you can't posses the ball against a sorry team in a 5-0/6-0 game, than something is wrong with your strategy, training, and or personal. I wouldn't ignore the game that's for sure. if your team in those games isn't playing "quality" soccer, you have to figure out why. and then if you style does not work against this sorry team, how the heck is it going to work against the top countries in the world. Lastly, than why the heck are you playing these sorry teams in the first place, over and over again........... maybe i'm just being picky with one little quote in the news, but i know for a fact some local coaches in the ATL could to a much better job with this team than her. this is where the quote is from: www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-soccer-baxter-20150125-story.html

I am starting to be less sure about the team's chances this summer. From Hope being a mess, to coaching issues in the last year, almost nothing, from an early exit to even getting it together and winning the WC, would surprise me.

Does Michelle Akers coach youth soccer in Georgia? Doesn't she live in powder springs area. I thinK she runs some camps and clinics etc. (and a horse rescue farm)

Neither article makes me feel any more optimistic. They have a whole lot of talent, but will JE make the best of it?

I hope that they will somehow pull it together and regain their dominance but it's not as easy as turning a switch and it seems they are not really a controlled, well-oiled machine right now. They just don't seem like the team is being managed, rather the players look like they are doing what they want basically. That is a recipe for disaster. I still think they may be able to pull it all together for the World Cup just on ability and ambition alone but I agree that the team in it's current form is approaching their final destination.
