Metro Atlanta has the same problem year after year - rainy season at the beginning or end of each soccer season threatens tournament play and year after year, parents get upset that whatever club is hosting didn't control the weather or procure turf fields. So the question - why not?
Collectively there are a lot of turf fields in metro Atlanta - UFA has one, Ambush has one, Roswell City has multiple locations with turf fields, there's Lake Pointe up 75 where Atlanta Cup held quite a few games not to mention almost every high school in the area has a turf stadium. Why don't tournament directors try harder to get turf fields? Other than Lake Pointe, most fields are logistically feasible if one coach had multiple teams or the tournament management could work harder to make sure there weren't too many long distance conflicts between venues for a coach. The fields Concorde lists as their venues are more spread apart than the three teams/city I mentioned above.
The out of state tournaments we attended this year were all at nice soccer complexes with all turf fields - guaranteed play. I'm not that big a fan of playing on turf for the way it tears up the kids legs, but for one weekend, it's worth it not to have to worry that a drop of rain eats your tournament budget.
And this isn't slamming Concorde- every single tournament held has the same risks and problems so you'd think someone would wake up and realize they need to come up with a better solution than shortened games and possible cancellations.

exactly why I was surprised to see our teams in the Concorde tourney this year. We normally take the trip to Vestavia, all turf, guaranteed play -- mid feb dates. Decent competition, usually 1 or 2 competitive games, but overall fun tourney and kids/parents have always had a blast.
past 2 years we have played, while every tourney in Atlanta was cancelled.

There's Rocky Top Sports World in Tennessee, too. Nice facilities - great place - lots to do and not a bad drive up there. I expect more tournaments to be held there in the future -the Labor Day one this past year was their first but we enjoyed it. rockytopsportsworld.com/

FYI....UFA has more than 1 Turf Field. There's 2 at Fowler and we have other locations with Turf Fields as well. Central also has two but outside of tournaments outside teams dont see those unless you play against Dawson teams. For our tournaments we also have turf fields at Sharon and Midway. Forsyth Parks and rec is also in the process of making some more.
