NPL ?

I would like to hear from those that have had experience with NPL (particularly on the girls side, but all comments are welcome). I have one friend whose daughter played in it last year and she said the competition was not very good (and I'm being polite when I say that). With the changes occurring with SCCL, and it being even further from our home (too far now), her only other option, if she were to stay at her club (yes, UFA-Forsyth), would be to play for the NPL team, but is it worth it?
I don't want all the travel and cost if we are to play inferior teams, but I don't want to base it off of just one persons perspective. Can anyone share their thoughts on NPL/ And will the changes make it a stronger league now?
Any comments are appreciated.

I wonder though if the teams/clubs playing in NPL will change next year. A few new clubs may come in that will change the landscape. Also even though the competitition was poor compared to local competition the older teams earn the right to compete in a bigger end of season tournament/playoff. The NPL scores show that the Georgia teams dominated. Honetly if you look at the ENCL standings, the Georgia teams dominate. If you look at the GDA standings the Georgia teams typically are in the top 3... What does that tell you?

We played NPL and RPL this last year. NPL was a bit more organized than RPL and with both in terms of competition had some very competitive teams and then some that weren’t so great. I’ve heard that NPL was being revamped and more games were being added, but at this time of the year who knows how things will actually shake out.

Some teams in NPL were stronger than RPL, for 01B - we played in both leagues as well as a couple of other teams. And one team in particular played NPL but were in a higher RPL Division. It’ll be good.

It’ll be good. Agree. Boys NPL 03B was quite strong. We played RPL 1st division and NPL gave us the opportunity to play several RPL Premier teams. Including the defending USYS national champions.

NPL around here until this new announcement, has traditionally been a supplemental league for additional games. Historically it was played mostly after the fall season, during the winter and sometimes it was a joint combined teams. It was a way to continue to training during the winter and get a handful of games in. I think its this link here - South Atlantic Premier League - nationalpremierleagues.com/south-atlantic-premier-league

If they are playing within two divisions then this somewhat reduces the amount of travel.

So the Forsyth team beneath DA will have fewer overall games than this year because they are only doing NPL with a slightly expanded season instead of Classic 1 + 8 game NPL, correct?

Thanks! Kind of a downer for our age group as we had to fight to be better than middle of the line in Classic 1 and there were several NPL teams that we simply could not compete against because of the effects of losing players to the DA squad from the previous year when we could beat those teams.

Incorrect. Last Fall Classic 1 teams played only 9 games. In Spring they played 13. For NPL it looks like there will be two divisions (East and Wes) with 8 teams in each. Teams will play a home and away game, so looks like 14 season games. That's 6 more league games than this year. **Ignore above as this is my tunnel vision in answering based on our Age group. Other age groups may have had more or less games. So depends upon how many games you played last Fall and Spring. Compare that to 14 games next year in Fall and 14 in Spring.

Per the link posted above (http://usclubsoccer.org/2018/05/09/csa-elite-tormenta-fc-to-join-npls-south-atlantic-premier-league-for-2018-19-season/) it looks like the East Division has room for 3 more teams. Will those be Georgia teams or out of state remains to be seen.

So my daughter was on the 01 Girls and they played 7 games NPL and about 10 games RPL along with National League Shwocase in Bradenton and North Carolina, and Jefferson Cup in March.

SRPL was way more competitive in our case besides in NPL there is no relegation.

Curious, since both NPL and ECNL are under US Club, why wouldn't a club like SSA or AFC not get ECNL if US Club grants them NPL? I have seen posts that many consider NPL a step below ECNL, but at least when ECNL boys began, the clubs that got it were in RPL along with SSA (at least at 01b group). And NPL teams that perform well will play ECNL teams that finished high in the ENPL playoffs... So I just wonder why the distinction?

I noticed NPL added 2 more teams.... not very strong... so not excited at all.... how many games will we end up playing? two divisions? There are supposed to be a home and away game against everyone in your division. So if 8 teams in your division, then 14 games. That's comparable to the number of games many teams played last year in Classic (Our Fall division actually had 10 teams so we only played 9 games). But if you played Classic and NPL last year then you no longer have those extra 8 NPL games. That can be made up in local tournaments probably at a less cost than it took to travel for extra NPL games last year. Or by scheduling some friendlies.

I am not a fan of NPL.. in our age group most teams were not strong and there is no relegation so the weaker teams do not get demoted. We should be allowed to play SCCL and NPL not just NPL. I don't understand...Norcross SCCL and Forsyth NPL... it doesn't make any sense to me at all.
