There was talk some time back about ECNL Southeast creating two divisions with the additions of FC Alliance (TN) and Palm Beach United (FL). I haven’t heard anything on this in a while. Anyone have more info or hearing the same thing? With tryouts looming, I’d have expected more info to emerge on this (and the SCCL 2nd division rumors).

Yeah, I was curious about this, too. However, the last time it was asked devolved into a Tophat thread.

Because FC Alliance is already ECNL for.girls and is in the Ohio Valley Conference. Is Tennessee one of those states where the boys and girls play their high school soccer during a different season? Because the girls play high school in the fall which is why they are in a different conference.

We're just going to have to wait i guess.
ECNL can be done better, especially at the younger ages... currently 12 teams and every team plays every team twice for a total of 22 games. If you look at the U15+ brackets, very few teams got all the games in (during the fall). 22 games in a fall is insane IMO.
But imagine this, just spitballin (on the girls side at least) ...16 teams divided into north and south divisions of 8 teams each. For the U15+ age groups, play every team once for a total of 15 games for the fall. For the U13/U14, you play each team in your division twice and each team from the other division once, for a total of 22 games. Play each team once in the fall and each team from your local division once in the spring. Suddenly whole clubs can travel together in the fall.
I don't know where the other 3 teams come from once Tophat leaves, but i think it's a good idea and would really help to lesson the travel (twice in the fall).

That’s a lot of real estate from Nashville to Miami 😃
How many parents are booking plane tickets for games?
Good thing GA is in the middle of it 👍

Still no word on North/South divisions for SE? That's a lot of Florida travel - and south Florida at that...

Good thing GA is in the middle of it 👍 Orlando, Tampa and Ft Lauderdale all have Southwest direct flights from Birmingham so I heard most flew on those trips with like a couple of parents and a handful of boys.

In the middle? South Florida would still be a 9hr or so drive. Or drive 1hr or so and pay several hundred for flights, then rent a car, and still have hotel costs. Hopefully there's still talk about a N/S division to cut that travel.

Note that the girls map still shows the following clubs with DA: Tophat, Solar, FC Dallas, NCFC and So Cal Blues. It is accurate as of April 22...will have to see it again after all of the announcements are made...whenever that is.

The TN clubs sure didn't get a favorable draw. Traveling to PA & NY...plus the cold. It sure seems FL could have its own division & lump AL, GA, TN into 1 division if you added 1-2 clubs or teams. However, when you look at the MW & NW it doesn't look so bad.

However, when you look at the MW & NW it doesn't look so bad. We spoke to the Tennessee parents about this when we played them. It is because they play high school soccer in the fall like the others in the north...at least on the girls side. So Tennessee cannot play GA teams in a normal schedule with opposing high school and club seasons.

Hey there! New to the forum. Been reading all the posts about TH losing ECNL. Now I’m hearing from several people that UFA is getting ECNL? Has anyone else heard that or is this coming from the same source? Could that be the big announcement on May 11?

That would shock me because ECNL is making the clubs with both choose so why would they give it to a DA club?? Unless it is boys ECNL. That is possible, but I have not heard anything so they are keeping it under wraps well if that is it.

Has anyone else heard that or is this coming from the same source? Could that be the big announcement on May 11? Had some conversation with a coach tonight about next year. ECNL never came up and it would likely have in the conversation we had. Of course this was at Norcross and if UFA did do ECNL it would likely be run out of Fowler. Would think though if they were going to do it they would push for a combo team and once again it never came up tonight.

I don't think ECNL would offer a spot to a club with DA at this point. Those lines have been drawn. As a replacement for DA, sure, but not both.
Also, the girls map is currently wrong as it show 7 clubs in FL (Palm Beach is not on the girls side).

My sources tell me that TH is out on ECNL and are pushing DA for 2 teams. Frankly, it is a smart play for them, but I wonder if it will be that effective even if it does work. I say this for two reasons: First, at each age group there are 10-20 kids who are very serious and will succumb to the no high school rule whether they like it or not. However, that does not fill 2 teams and I don't think there are 30 or so such kids in each age group at TH. Second, I think that being on the "second DA team" is not very strong marketing. I know ECNL is their "second team" but there is a perk for those kids--HS soccer. Just my thoughts.

Some have speculated that USSF DA wouldn't buy the "2nd" team concept since its supposed to be the best teams in the region.
IMO NTH should be applying for SAPL-NPL for their 2nd team, I think it would be really good fit. Still a regional league that has exposure and it seems to work for UFA. Even as big and strong has NTH and CF are, even they struggle to have a 2nd team which is very competitive in the elite leagues.
NTH people, do their GDA and ECNL teams generally train out of the same locations? If so I could see that as a problem, because while there are certainly people who are willing to brave some of the country's busiest traffic corridors to get their kids to elite teams, perhaps if their 2 teams were spread apart geographically they would have an easier time recruiting kids to one location or another?
