I assume you’re referring to ECNL, not ECRL. For ECNL girls, the Platinum team is their top team so the Platinum coach gets to choose his or her players before Premier. I’m guessing both teams at each age group have quality coaches so for the most part it comes down to having the best players, that’s why Platinum is always the better team. For ECRL girls, it’s a different dynamic since Platinum is based out of their Central location and Premier is based out of their Columbus location. So sometimes ECRL Premier is the better team. Interesting to see that in the 2008 Girls age group, Premier actually finished the fall in 1st place, ahead of Platinum. But that seems to be a major anomaly. In every other age group, Platinum is at or near the top of the standings, while Premier is mid-to-bottom of the table. theecnl.com/sports/2023/8/8/ECNLG_0808235831.aspxInteresting as well is that 08 ECNL Premier team is coached by GB the owner of concorde.

So they went convenience to the airport over convenience to the majority of Atlanta soccer families. This will be interesting to see in the next 5-10 years.

They do. Only clubs that don’t play each other are NASATophat and Concorde.
For Academy scheduling there’s literally an “Alliance” where they schedule themselves first before adding the smaller clubs.

Are we really talking about rankings from some app? 🤣🤣🤣 what is this U9s from Concorde, nth and Ufa debating the best? I can’t believe people try to sell those things considering the amount of fractures in US Soccer. They can’t even get a proper ranking for college football and that’s far more sacred and funded then youth soccer.

Doubtful. That’s mostly going to be private info the clubs aren’t sharing anymore.
Back in the Ga Soccer days they’d publish the number of players registered from each club but even then that wasn’t accurate as it didn’t take into account rec in house and the us club players (ECNL/npl/sccl).

Ufa Norcross has two teams Premier coached by Juan Cruz and Red by Matt Holmes.
Concorde Central has six teams, Black, White, Red, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Saxon Venair and Byron Peters oversee the 14s for CF so if you’re looking for the better coaching it’s Concorde. Add in there’s more stability compared to UFAN whose top players have to leave for Forsyth.
If you want ECNL/RL Concorde is the answer. If you want a good Academy experience then maybe UFAN or even Rush out of Brook Run.

We are currently looking to move to a new association. My daughter has played for a group that has became a waste of time. I have submitted tons of videos of the coaching and proof of our lack of adequate coaching. It’s no secret. Half of the year is paid, we are 2.5 months into that. Tournament fees are paid. I stopped payment on the next payment as we will not be continuing with them. We have moved to a better fitted team. The former team knows all of this but refuses to give us her player card bc of the stopped payment. What are my options? Not much except move to a club that’s not part of the same league. Ie move from SCCL to Ga Soccer. If you’re making a move from one SCCL club to another SCCL club you’ll probably have to pay the full year financial obligations. If it’s Ga Soccer then you can appeal to Ga Soccer but they’ll probably tell you the same thing, pay in full to get released. What league are you currently in?

Now imagine this scenario, 20+ fields, all in one location, near the busiest airport in the world so teams from all over the country can get there easily all with every national team coaches offices overlooking the fields. Couldn’t that be something. Now imagine that in a part of the country that’s not one of the worst to be in in June and July between all the rain, humidity and heat we get.

Isn't Washington guaranteed rain? I understand San Diego, but if they're going to host playoffs where it rains then can't we just stay here? I'm all for moving it to a Round of 16 only for all age groups. May be an unpopular opinion... Obviously you know nothing about the northwest. Washington in June and July is guaranteed perfect weather. No humidity, no rain, and temps in the 70-80°s. Wish the boys would go up there over San Diego again….

So the coach saying this is likely to happen is saying it because.... a) it really could happen b) he is just talking out of his butt c) it's a devious plot to give false hopes to players/parents I'm inclined to think it's a combination of b and c. I was surprised when our very levelheaded team manager said it over the weekend. If the ECNL team above you is struggling there is a chance your club will promote your coach as the new ECNL coach. Then maybe your coach will promote their current players to replace the struggling ECNL ones at tryouts.

There is zero chance a current Southeast ECNL-RL team gets moved up to ECNL next year. Everyone has ECNL locally and none of the clubs are ready to take on two ECNL teams. Especially considering how much Concorde is struggling with two.

Any chance you’ll divulge the insider info or give us another clue or two?? Negotiations are underway and I would not want to jeopardize that or potentially expedite things sooner because they want to control the narrative. The person is local and nope it isn't James... Is this a promotion or more of a lateral move for this new person? 🤔

What refresher is more than 20-30 mins? I think the initial was maybe an hour but after that the yearly renewal is only 30 mins tops. Background checks are every two years and even as Team Managers have been covered by the club. If never heard of a parent or coach paying that out of pocket.
Safesport as a company and how they dealt with all the NWSL issues is why I do not care for them, but the idea and what they’re trying to do, even with their “woke” ideas is totally fine by me. We need more education and actual conversations instead of thinking the world is fine and shouldn’t continue to change.

Everything I’ve heard is this is going to be a complex with a dozen plus fields, indoor facilities and meeting areas. Anyone know of land for sale that could accommodate such a facility because my guess is Uncle Arthur is also selling some land up in Flowery Branch next to his Falcons HQ. When they build this 45 mins from Atlanta we’ll see how this goes.

It’s been a few years since I saw the rules but if you want to be affiliated with Ga Soccer you needed to have a Rec program for at least 2 years and then you could start an Academy team. Believe it was at least 2 more years from that to get a U13 Select team eligible for Piedmont play.
Best bet is to email Ga Soccer to get the current guidelines as all of that above is from the pre-SCCL days.

Which is now decided at the SCCL cup at the beginning of the season, not actually by the results of the season. I did see that they did an SCCL Cup over Labor Day weekend and clubs announced the champion qualified for Nationals. However, you can apply for the tournament without having won SCCL Cup. Which group you are put in (Super vs Premier) is going to be determined by your results of the entire season. Honestly the qualifying for nationals is a bit of baloney since anyone can apply for that tournament. If you pay attention to the teams sent often Tophat sends their top and second SCCL teams. It is a good experience for those kids so I am not trashing that. If they want to go more power to them. I just think it is more propaganda spread to the parents to tell them they are qualifying for anything. 🤷🏻♀️ Winning SCCL Cup means you qualify for Nationals and Sccl pays the $1000+ fee. Teams are welcome to apply for National Cup but you have to go the Regionals route first which means another week and 4-5 games in another state.

Boys or Girls? Academy or SCCL?
Nick Mantha, the DOC, is a great coach. Know the game and develops players that get picked up on Central ECNL teams or leave for higher level teams that are closer to Johns Creek. He’s usually pretty decent on communication.

Does anyone knows of any non ecnl teams that may be in need of a goalkeeper. Second keeper or even practice keeper is fine. Played ecnl previously but not able to travel this season. Please dm me. Prefer to stay in metro Atlanta area. Thanks Boys or girls?

I’m a parent of an academy player on a small club in Atlanta that is not in SCCL or ECNL. This thread is very informative and got me thinking… Now that SCCL is expanding into the lower age groups (down to U11 now), is GA Soccer soon to be a rec soccer organization that also has a competitive league for 5-10 tiny clubs? I guess you could argue that is what has already happened, but curious to hear what others think. Seems like if SCCL expands into the lower age brackets (u9 and u10, then we can say bye to GA Soccer for good. I can’t imagine what would happen if SCCL decided to set up a rec league like RIAS. 😐 SCCL already has Rec leagues. Where do you think Ufa, Nth, AFU and Gsa play Rec when they can’t keep it in house.

Sad how many DELETEs in U19 there are because the clubs forced third and fourth teams to travel so much when none of the girls wanted to do so much travel. Would have been better off in SCCL and less girls quitting. It’s just the two Ufa teams. Pretty sure Norcross didn’t have a true 05 or 06 team last year. Forsyth not putting a team together does seem odd. Especially since the travel looks to be two games in SC and one in AL. That’s about equal to SCCL traveling to Augusta, Columbus, Clemson and Birmingham. I’m happy to see NPL coming back but mainly for the non ECNL clubs like Ambush, Impact and the non Cobb SSA branches.

Anyone else watch that game and wonder why Alex Morgan was on the field? O’Hara, Thompson, Rodman, Sonnett should have subbed in so much earlier. Rapinoe was a decent sub who gave a solid 30 minutes. Does the team have any real Midfielders anymore? I mean they couldn’t string more then 2 passes together and now no Lavelle for the Sweden game. Mind you Lavelle was trying to do too much instead of just playing the game.
No wonder Fox is freaking out because they built the tv schedule off the US markets and now they have a Sunday 5:00am game that not a lot watch, and short of come to Jesus moment in that locker room will be the last game for the US.
And yes, Vlatko is not the coach for this current group. A change needs to come for sure.

Assuming this is one of the middle schools that plays in the Fall? Talk to both coaches before, most MS coaches know club comes first so just let them know and when you’ll have to miss. MS coaches just need them their for games anyway..
7th grader and wanting to play ECNL-RL means a lot of games and training between now and June so don’t over do it and burnout. That’s the biggest issue with kids playing school and club so find the balance.

Has the league made a deal with Messi playing on turf? Will he shrink his playtime at Atlanta? Last I read from I think yahoo sports was yes he’s still planing on skipping games at those 6 teams unless they install grass.

NTH-NASA 2007 boys had a fairly dominant week in Greensboro, NC. 4 wins in a row and advanced to ECNL finals tournament in California. 9 goals for and only 1 against during the week. They definitely impressed, especially considering their new coach for Fall cut 6 players. Don’t tell nasa Nationals is just another showcase, they play to win it not just show off for scouts.

So is there any more word on what is going on with the AU Academy. Are they dropping U12 and U15 for next season? Confirmed - Yes and Yes, but it's U12 and U16 Is this why AU cut so many 2008s this spring?

2005 Girls was a very small age group and a majority of the players were spring birthdays. This was that group that when the age mandate hit jumped from U10 to U12 so a lot of mid/low level players quit as they struggled with the three year change. 6v6 then 9v9 then 11v11 all in a three year period.

Tophat loading up on GKs too. They just signed the top SSA keeper to split time on their GA Gold team.
Gsa SCCL keeper moving to concorde to play ECRL.
Add in the Ufa ercl keeper quit so an age group that was already short on keeps just got a little smaller.
