Its crazy. Only speaking to D1 boys
heard over 1000 in portal which is 3/4x Plus ALOT of internationals in the mix
The extra year is causing rosters to be 30++ Very limited scholarship $$ (even more so) DO NOT EXPECT FULL RIDES those days are gone.

I know of one coach that has done this in my 22 years as a parent of club players.
THIS IS A COACHES RESPONSIBILITY!! THIS IS PART OF DEVELOPMENT!
DCs should make this mandatory. We as parents should make this mandatory.
I know AU does reviews every 6-8 weeks in the program. Mostly direct with the player but parents are welcome.

Yeah its pretty cool.
The question becomes do you want to be retained? So you sign a HG (Home Grown) deal and loaned to AtlUtd 2 or do you go the College pro path? Great options for sure. Calab W is a great example of the direct path and Justin G (GK) is another for the college pro path.

What the heck is this?? So this is the new U19 league? lol
I just wonder how big this pool is going to be.
A player is eligible to participate as an amateur (academy) player, provided that:
a. he is under the age of 21 before the official start of the season, b. he has not competed in any college or university soccer programs, c. he has never been signed or recognized as a professional player as defined by the NCAA or FIFA, and d. he currently plays, or previously played, for the Club's MLS NEXT academy, or for a team which has a documented affiliation with the Club.

Yeah not sure on Conway's situation. I do know Uni's are NOT handing out massive $$ for scholarships. AU needs to invest in everyone equally before they become a homegrown powerhouse. They pick 3-5 players at younger ages and say "these are our guys", different resources, opportunities, and even some cases totally different set of rules. (in my opinion) Yeah the 2's dont need to be in Champion's for sure. Most of the players with be in the new "fake league" next year. Leadership is a big thing. Seems to be at a loss. Missing an identity. The lack of investment in every player drives me crazy. I remember reading how TA bragged about he coached the top 3-5 kids himself during the week…. What about the other 20 players in the age group. I get it a few kids might be phenoms. Haven’t seen one in awhile. Last phenom I saw was Carleton. I’d make a point to try to make my 18th player the top player by the time he left the academy. That should be the goal. You never know!!! The problem is exactly like you said. The top kids are chosen at relatively young ages - the rest seem are excess baggage. Yeah its pretty bad. The culture is none existent. The younger age groups yes but as they get older, if you keep feeding the same BS story and looking the other way, the player will catch on and see right through it. I just think its a lack of passion for everyone's success and not just a select few.

This is why I think the College to Pro path is a great option. With the stats in mind if you are 16/17 at a Pro Academy and not getting any USL/ Semi Pro time then that should be the pathway.
You have a very slim chance to go pro (in any sport) out of College so why not go play for 4/5 years and get that degree.

You both are so right.
Even the current academy stock at AU preforms very well but sadly won't get the chance. Only the "chosen ones"
A lot of "egos" in the soccer world. Being a good former player doesn't necessarily make you a great coach for development.
The goal for these MLS academy coaches should be how many players can I get to pro or college and helping them achieve those goals. So so many lower level international spots division 1-3, D1-3, NAIA etc, College routs. HELP the player get into those locations. Call, email, invite... I don't see a lot of that at all.
I honestly think a lot of that is just being lazy.

Its a choice and great experience. You do have an opportunity to go I would. Of course you have to pay. lol nothing is free.
They have been around quite some time and have several signed players and even players playing in the MLS.
Its a great experience but for sure know going into it the chances are slim on getting signed. As are the chances of playing D1 soccer.
Do you do local residential camps? Do you pay over $2000 for your player to play at Disney? (your hotel, food, travel etc...) Why not put that into one person and let them have that experience.
I know players that play at MLS academies that I think shouldnt be there. More talented players playing at other clubs. But.. I get everyone is initialed to own opinion.
But... you if havent gone on a trip with Eddie then you really dont know.
Overall the experience is amazing for the players. They can even set up an experience for the parents if they decided to go as well.

I personally know Eddie. This is a great opportunity and the experience is amazing.
The trips are very very well organized. The trip locations are based on the players level. They offer this for boys or girls.
If you are able to do this is a great experience for family and for sure the player.

You cant compare South Korea with USA. The obesity rate is way way higher in the US. 800k deaths in the US over 2 years. Out of how many confirmed cases? How many was covid the only reason? So 1.5% that get it die or 0.0024% of total US population. The fact is.. You can get covid with or without being vaxed. You can die with or without being vaxed. My understanding that vac·ci·na·tion means- treatment with a vaccine to produce immunity against a disease. This vaccine (1,2,3,4 etc..) DOES not do that. Why no study on natural immunity? UAE has some of the strictest and most vaxed. Why so many new cases. Seems like we get a spike after every new booster...?? www.timesofisrael.com/uae-reports-major-virus-surge-despite-boasting-99-vaccination-rate/2300 children are missing PER DAY in the US. over 800k a year. THAT IS THE PANDEMIC. Why no coverage? Where are they?

Very interested in hearing how the rule structure will be. More and more kids taking the College Pro path, will they be able to come and join "play" during the off season if they are in College?
Will they have restrictions similar to USL where you can only have 5 academy players (i think 5 games max)?
My understanding is that players (MLS) when coming off injury or playing bad will be able to play in the league. Not sure how the cap works as well.
Is this the rumored U23 league but its sound like no age limit??

Rules are Rules. Some wanted to play but AU said no. MLS =Next doesnt allow it...
But... when star player plays...look other way.

This will be interested as I know of 2 different MLS kids (for different clubs). One of them plays on my kid's high school team, and did indeed play last season. It will be interesting if he plays again or not. I personally don't have an issue with it, but rules are rules. The other I know goes to another county high school. It will be interesting to see if either play this season. Yes it would be. Two from AU played HS and MLSNext last year. AU knew and did ZERO. I guess if one of them is the "golden" boy they look the other way. Tampabay Rowdies last year caught 3 or 4 players playing HS and got kicked off the team. Heard they werent even allowed to play in other leagues for that year. I agree, Rules are Rules.
