Same rules as DA had. Can not play high school and MLS Next. Not sure of what the penalty is but could be play suspension, team loss of points, or pretty much nothing.

I'm sure that's the case for some of the players, but I know for a fact that some others get crazy love and support from AU too. They help with calls to the college coaches/staff, collating video highlights and putting the specific players in prime positions when they know the college scouts are on hand. This helps bring up a very important point. In your recruiting years, make sure you have a coach that believes in you and your abilities. You don't want to lose out on a scholarship because your coach is not your biggest fan and advocate. Most college coaches will discuss players with the head coach. Make sure they like you... Yes you are very correct. Not sure I understand the logic but its AUs biggest down fall. Each player has given up so much and just because the coach doesnt know you they decide to do nothing. They tell everyone at the start to trust the process. Well the process is broken.

What percentage of academy grads (AU for the sake of this discussion) move forward into D1 schools or USL/first team rosters, Europe/abroad? I am aware of those that have moved on to Clemson or are now playing with Tony Annan and other top schools, but curious to see the statistics. All else being equal is an MLS Academy player more favorable to a D1 school than an equivalent player from MLS Next/ECNL/NPL (same grades, etc). I see many schools picking up players from all the above but I often wonder if the AU distinction on their resume gives them any real advantage over an equivalent player who wasn’t part of the Academy. It is my understanding that yes you will see top programs pull players from both MLS and non-MLS academies around the country. The difference is usually you're given the benefit of the doubt when you're at an MLS Academy, especially if you've been there a while. Additionally, you have the full weight and might of the marketing team at an MLS Academy to put a shine on your game. One parent told me the difference between her two kids one at an MLS Academy and the other at a regular soccer club, was that coaches were reaching out to the MLS kid to convince and sell him on their college program. The non-MLS Academy kid had to prove to the coaches and college that he was worthy of attending and playing at their college. Additionally, recruiting MLS caliber players to your program gives a boost to your program from an optics standpoint. The girls equivalent I used in the past was having TH on your resume. Carried a little more weight that some of the other local soccer clubs... Yeah you would think they do a lot but AU is not really proactive as they should be in helping the boys fulfill there College dreams. Actually it is very disappointing. Some rumors have been they tell the interested University the player wouldn't be a good fit. So grass isnt always greener

If you look at the D1 one rosters its a mix of HighSchool, Club, MLS, and International.
As for USL, much higher chance moving into USL from the MLS Academy but some go from Academy to D1 to USL/ MLS.

Great answer tross2443
Many years on the sideline in multiple sports. Its all the same. Same crap different day/ sport.
Its a collective arrangement. Parents need to act like adults and "try" and solve the issues on the sideline. Plus parents need to check themselves. If you have issues (during games) wait at least 24/48 hrs before you go crazy on forums or emails....
We all have the same goal and that is the best interest in our players development.
Or
you can all get boxing gloves and have a backyard MMA. That seems to work as well.
This forum is to vent issues and hopefully provide light on situations.

I know ideally both but Toca $$$.... Thoughts? Toca does have group sessions that are cheaper. Plus I'm sure they can work out something if you were to commit to a block of hours. You have to look at the total value. How many balls/touches is the player getting in that hour vs regular coach. No way in an hour session is that coach feeding your player 400+ balls. Intense cardio as well. I personally like Toca for total overall value. If you get a good coach like the others have mentioned then a huge bonus. I heard they have a $30/m membership and $55/hr sessions. They also have group ones which if you have two or three you can still get a great workout in. We went almost all of last year and this year and it has been huge development for both my kids.

NASA's secret sauce on the boys side was when RA left Concorde and came to NASA. He is a quality coach and brought so many good people and players with him. I expect NASA to be very good and get even better on boys side for years to come. I also expect Concorde's decline to continue as a rapid pace. Pretty impressive so far. Starting with the U13s and ending with the U18s/19s they are 2nd, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd and the oldest are listed as 3rd even though I think they should be 2nd. They do have the same PPG with UFA but they have more games completed, more point accumulated, more wins, less losses and a better GD. What am I missing? LOVE RA! He has 5 starting players on the AU U19s. All from his North Black team back in the day. Hands down one of THE best coaches.

No news yet. Sounds like you are hearing more than what's posted. I'm hearing the same. Might want to ask your clubs admin or coach.

Where is Efrain Morales? hurt, he's not getting any minutes with the 2s. He's played 150 minutes. Same with Vicente Reyes, he's played a total of 90 minutes. Sorry -- why would you sign a homegrown deal for that........... Run Run Run - is my take. If your name ain't Bello -- run and run fast. From what I've heard, Bello always was asking "What can I do better", "What do I need to do to improve" etc. sorry for being an A**, but I just don't see any value in the 2s at altanta united for a young player. It's not like AAA ball, where a kid earns his way up to the bigs with hitting dingers or throwing gas. These kids are signing away their lives. Efrain was hurt so they gave him a longer recovery time than normal. as soon as he comes back he gets injured. No sure of ETA. Reyes is fine. Not sure why they sitting him so much. Played the 90 mins and only 1 U19 game in 2021 so far.

do they even have standings? There is a standings link. However, it doesn’t appear that all of the scores and other metrics are up to date. Very slow to update. (at least that's how it was last season)

If it was a huge benefit then AU would be doing it. They will move only a handful of players up to 11v11. As it get more towards the Spring, you will start seeing more games 11v11. Most practices are small sided anyways. no real benefit Or, when moving from 9v9 to 11v11, AU releases the young players that looked good on the small pitch but can’t duplicate it on large fields. That has definitely happened. It happens with all clubs/teams. My kid’s teams have few players still together from their 9v9 days. Obviously it’s not the only reason but there is a percentage. yep it happens every year every age group. BTW... that OG U9/10 from Concorde North have 6 starters on the AU U19 squad.

Do we know that for sure? Until this year South Carolina has had a grand total of 1 Coach in their entire men’s soccer existence. Now all of the sudden they’ve agreed to be a stepping-stone program? Not to mention the gamble being the man at a pro team can be when he can become legendary at USC. USC will surely be patient as he builds the program and they have ample resources to fund athletes now that the 9.9 scholarship allotment is meaningless. He has always wanted to coach in the Pros, that is a very badly kept secret. He had asked to be the permanent coach for the AU2s and instead gave it to someone else who had played and coached in the EPL. Told his ceiling at AU was as Academy Director. That's when he chose to leave. Unless he's chosen to bury his dream, it's still on the table, as far as I know... Yeah I dont agree with the AU2 coach selection. Just because you played in EPL doesnt make you a good coach. No proven track record or development in the Academy system and then moved to AU2 head spot. I question that move for sure. Not doing the greatest as HC, only 5 wins out of 19 matches. I would have selected a College coach with a proven track record. They can relate better and some USL player have came from the College soccer system This is the USA and not EPL.

I am 50-50 that it will. They have no excuse not to be a soccer powerhouse. They have he SEC football funding, they are close to the eastern hotbed of soccer, good coach, relatively good weather, good enough academic school. But will TA be patient enough to build it out? We all know he's angling for a pro-team, so do parents/players see he may have one foot out the door or is he able to sell them on being there long enough to see their kids through graduation. He's definitely in a conundrum for sure... Yeah I think it will be hard for him. You know he will focus on the AU boys. (as expected) We all know AU Academy is not a team focus system that he help build but more individual focus. (real lucky if you are one of the "chosen" ones at 13/14). So many better options (my opinion) to choose from regarding schools. I know this isnt really his recruiting class so will have to see where he is at in about 3 years. Wish him the best of luck.

AU U19 beat U23 Jamaica All Stars 2-1. Pretty cool Jason Longshore was play by play. Next up Atletico Atlanta. They tied ATLUTD 2 in a friendly earlier in the year and won the National Championship in Cali two years ago. Pretty cool to see the hype this league has so far UPSL. twitter.com/upslsoccer

Yeah. They were ok. I would say maybe 1 could have gone to D1 but for sure the rest D2/3.
What i thought was cool was this clubs owners (they have several clubs in the USA) and comprised with players that missed on recruitment (grades, financial other reasons) and still are NCAA eligible and are not full time so playing doesnt count as a red shirt year. They help kids get recruited to College. They also send kids to the U23 Everton academy.
I talked with the owner during the game and was refreshing of how passionate he was on helping the players.
Augusta also plays in Carolina league as well. This way everyone plays throughout the season and gets looks. (flexible)

Both will have solid games. Both will have lots of eyeballs.
If you are good it doesnt really matter. It will boil down who the coaches are.
