I've heard this before, in other sports. An abusive coach is "not a good fit". How is an abusive coach a good fit for anyone? My child was not one of the victims but she still didn't like seeing other kids mentally & verbally abused by the coach. (This was not MC and not even soccer, just an example.) Everyone has their own opinion. My wife's cousin played for Bobby Knight and to this day holds him in high regards. Many don't. So saying someone who yells and screams at kids (which he shouldn't don't get me wrong) maybe a fit for their child is their opinion not mine. I like when guys like Knight get exposed for what they are.

Whatever "woke" topic dujour the crazy social justice warrior types are fighting for today. It changes day to day, and gets increasingly more crazy at every iteration and every topic. I saw some woke liberal teacher yesterday post a video that PBIS (good behavior standards in school such as sitting in your desk, keeping quiet, paying attention to the teacher, etc...) is now white supremacy as well. I can't make this stuff up either. Let me ask another question: Are you against social justice? Despite the fact that some people absolutely do amplify their own problems, a lot of people face undeniable hardships based only on their skin color, religion, lack of parents, their address, gender.. a lot of things. The unfair, unnecessary hardships are real even if you don’t want it to be discussed (or taught in school). I grew up telling jokes that I’m ashamed of today.. but I’m thankful that I lived and learned - basically “woke up” and grew out of [some of] my ignorance. I know a lot of people who could stand to do the same so I try to speak up sometimes. I pick my battles because I know some folks don’t want to hear it but some appreciate other perspectives.

Yeah USSoccer really screwing the pooch here. Offering both groups what they offered the women back like 5 years ago means massive pay cuts for the mens side. Good luck with that, especially didn’t the mens side already come out and say the women deserved to be paid more then the men due to their success and the mens team being so awful. That is hilarious man and stinks of someone that doesn't know basic economics. Women should get paid an equal % as the men based on what the women's team brings in as revenue. It will never be dollar for dollar the same at least not in my lifetime. Dollar for dollar the same means that FIFA and the people that sponsor the world cup will have to put in equal prize money for women's tournaments such as the WWC which will never happen because money generated for these sponsors is not equivalent to what gets put into the men's tournaments (eye balls on TV, ad revenue, etc....). This is not USSF's fault. So the only way they make dollar to dollar the same as men if this isn't going to happen is socialism or confiscation of wealth from the men's team as a subsidy (aka socialism). This is just basic economics 101 that I guess so many don't seem to understand anymore. This is exactly like the WNBA vs NBA situation as well. Those women that play in the WNBA will never make the same as the players in the NBA because the WNBA does not generate as much revenue. Women's sports in general do not bring in the same revenue (most non-professional leagues run in the red...) as men's teams. It is what it is, but there was a reason the Judge threw out their lawsuit. This is once again nothing but a PR stunt by the USWNT and players with liberal/woke media fine with carrying the water of misstatements and lies. You do realize that in the women's contract they were getting paid a higher % of the prize pool of tournaments than the men were with their prize pool right? I think the men should sue for unfair treatment and ask for the same % of prize money as the women got in their last contract. Of course they would never do that as the media would not cover them in good light like they do the USWNT that is lying and misstating the issue. No I haven't watched a UWSNT in a year or two, mainly due to the wokeism and the lawsuit. I know plenty of people of all political ideologies and races that feel the same way and won't watch as well. Yes I did watch them in the last world cup and many other friendly games before even more so than the men at the time due to the men performing so badly. What is “wokeism”?

not only do they know where you have been and your locations, they can predict where your going to go based upon previous history and your calendar.... It's crazy that people actually get away with crimes given this level of tracking. hence why I'm the gray man (great books by the way, Mark Greaney) -- I get a new burner phone every week, break the previous sim card and throw them away in random locations across the city. My life is way too boring for anyone to care. same. I held out against the iPhone for a long time but I’m a happy convert now. Time to get a new one in fact. And there is no doubt we’re being watched and listened to at all times. I requested a V8 (the drink) on an airplane yesterday and guess what YouTube showed me in a commercial this morning? It isn’t a coincidence. (Thanks for the tip on the update)

I think college soccer ought to resemble the pro game. A greater number of subs wouldn’t be the worst thing but Definitely no re entry to the game after you’ve been subbed. It makes it a completely different game if you can come off and rest and re enter. Fine for kids but not aspiring pros. I disagree. College programs carry about 30 players on their rosters. With no reentry you would not be able to play a large number of your players. Plus it would be hard to develop depth and train your younger players if they never enter the game. How do you build a consistent program? Unlike pros you cannot just trade and draft new players and you never have players for longer than 4 (occasionally 5) years. It would destroy the NCAA to not allow reentry. The transfer portal would be a nightmare. I also agree with atlfutboldad that too few college players go pro. You listed quite a few people but it would take days to write out all of those that did not go pro. You went far enough back to have players that are now retired. As a thought experiment I might suggest that unlimited subs but no re entry allowed could actually increase the need for depth and the use of the bench. Regardless you enlightened me on the roster count. Thirty players seems… ridiculous. Or elite or something.

Just curious what sub rules you think is appropriate for NCAA? I do find it interesting that ECNL, GA, other league's rules are stricter than college. I will say that I don't think that colleges should have no re-entry at all. I think the pro rules will make it a very unpleasant season for most college players. I think college soccer ought to resemble the pro game. A greater number of subs wouldn’t be the worst thing but Definitely no re entry to the game after you’ve been subbed. It makes it a completely different game if you can come off and rest and re enter. Fine for kids but not aspiring pros.

the irony of NCAA soccer rules is thick. And that is the criticism of NCAA soccer. It is more track meet than soccer game. No doubt

Changing that rule just shows that SCCL is a lower level of soccer. Part of soccer development is learning to manage the game. Unlimited subs does not allow that to happen. Instead it is full go all the time. the irony of NCAA soccer rules is thick.

HALF of Afghanistan population is under twenty years old.. thus never lived under Taliban rule. I suspect they’re not going to like it and the future will bring civil war and more atrocities.
I feel bad for the Womens soccer team and what it represents - but I feel stronger that our country would have a more positive impact if we would stop making wars.

I do wonder when GB plans to play our best team if not in WCQ.

Bello did sign a 5 year contract in 2017 which kicked on in January 2018 when he was 15. AU felt compelled to give him a longer contract compared to his other cohorts maybe because they see the potential of selling his rights down the line and wanted to lock him up. I'm curious if he gets sold what his going rate would be and if not, would AU resign him to another long term contract? on the rise www.transfermarkt.us/atlanta-united-fc/startseite/verein/51663

Super crazy. This past season was my first full season watching premier league and it seems to be more suspenseful than American sports. First PSG coach to Chelsea, then Wolves coach to Tottenham, then Messi to PSG and now Ronaldo to Man City? My head is spinning! Oh and Mbappe wants out of PSG and Real Madrid wants him? Alot alot alot going on! But people say that it’s the same handful of clubs at the top every year. I say it doesn’t matter - still incredibly compelling even if the champion is declared after week 36. Playoffs aren’t what makes leagues exciting. Good players and good teams do. And promotion and relegation keeps the level high. You think our country would learn from this… but we’d rather have pay to play and “parity” in our leagues. Silly.

Sad truth is some coaches know how to do one thing only… And it isn’t communicate with people. It wouldn’t surprise me if this coach just forgot to finish roster decisions, and assumed somebody else would handle it.
That’s a crappy experience and “moving on” seems justified - sadly summer leagues occur after annual commitments/contracts so it sounds like she got stuck until the following year. Bummer.

Tell him thanks it was great while it lasted. I surely will! We spent so many many hours on the road, getting up early, getting home late, smelling stinky cleats and gloves, staying in sketchy motels, etc.. but we did make some GREAT memories. However this goes down, I don’t regret a minute of it. This is what it’s all about! Don’t be sad that it’s over, be happy that it happened.

rifle said “ interesting. I’ll bet that caused some people on other fields to freak out - if the non uniformed club linesman on your field was allowed to call offside” I’d only freak out if I saw a man in a clown outfit… Numerous clowns without makeup freak out on every sideline at every game.

Actually I did not put on my uniform, but I always keep my referee bag in my car when going to any game, because you never know when I might need to help. I asked the center if he wanted me to get my uniform from out of my car, and he said not to worry about it (they were already running late anyway due to lightning delay). So I did indeed offer to put it on, but it would have taken another 5-10 mins for me to go to and from car and at least throw on my shirt. I already had black shorts on. They ended up finding another certified referee that was a teenager as well for the other AR, and I think that is why he was ok with both of us calling it fully. His issue to begin with with me was more that one side would have a full AR and the other a club official and it wouldn't be right, but once he found another certified one he didn't really have a problem. interesting. I’ll bet that caused some people on other fields to freak out - if the non uniformed club linesman on your field was allowed to call offside

Part of the reason that SSA can't find refs is that there pay scale sucks, especially when compared to SCCL pay rates. Here is the pay scale: SSA Tournament Pay Rates: Age Center AR 7v7 25 13 9v9 30 15 11v11 (13/14U) 35 20 11v11 (15/16U) 45 25 11v11 (17/19U) 50 35 SCCL U12: $60/$35/$35 U13-16: $65/$40/$40 U17-19: $75/$50/$50 Now in defense of SSA, Concorde's Nike Cup was only $5 per referee higher than SSA's. Tournament pay rates are always generally lower than regular season, as tournaments have reduced game times, etc.... That being said, they need to be matching at least what the other big clubs pay for their tournaments. I was at Lovejoy with my son's team. I am a certified referee, so is my son, so is 2 other kids and 2 other dad's on his team. Due to lightning delay, I actually ARed the game before my son's on the field as they needed an AR and I volunteered to do it. At first the center told me I could only signal in and out, and I again reiterated that I was certified and if he was only going to let me call in and out and not direction, fouls, offside, etc..., that he can just find another parent to do it, as I wasn't going to do that. I mean its kind of demeaning to another certified referee to be told you can only be a club sideline person instead of a full AR. He agreed to let me fully AR the game. I did end up getting paid for it, as I just emailed the assignor and he assigned it to me after the fact. The problem with SSA (and maybe other clubs as well) is they force all their own teams to be in their tournaments. As I said my son's team has 6 people between dad's and kids that can referee, but we couldn't do it for SSA because we were all watching or playing this weekend. You can probably estimate from there how many referees they lose from a lot of their select teams forcing them to play so they can't referee. were you in uniform?
