Indeed. Who are parents to help make important medical decisions for children! Next thing you know, parents will want to help decide what children learn in school or which church they attend!!! You mistaken me making my point in the frame of a religious aspect. It was not. I am purely worried about the medical and scientific understanding of what doing such transitioning before puberty does to the person long term. The science is not mature enough to know this. I think this is why most doctors are reluctant or refuse to do such transitioning before the person is 18 or at least before puberty. People that do it now in my opinion are letting their kids participate in medical experimentation with a lack of good data out on long-term prognosis. At least when the child becomes an adult, legally they can decide what they want to do. Not to mention this slippery slope has even more complexity when you toss in social media and main stream media seemingly having a slanted bias to one side of the argument dealing with trans-rights and kids. The explosion in Gender Dysphoria cases has caught even some of the most "pro-trans" people off-guard and caused even them to look at WHY this is happening. (I'm talking about psychologists specializing in this area, along with adults who have made the choice to transition). It seems the majority of media today could also almost be too affirming and causing kids that had no signs of gender dysphoria to all of a sudden make life-altering decisions because they are given praise for "being brave" and "who they really are". I mean, who doesn't like being recognized as something virtuous and special. As most can attest, social influence can play a huge part in a kids life. Here is a good article on Science.org from a Brown University study, talking about " rapid onset transgender identity" and quote from it: "Ray Blanchard, a professor of psychiatry at the University of Toronto in Canada who worked for 15 years in a gender identity clinic that screened candidates for sex reassignment surgery, says the paper points to a clear phenomenon: a new subgroup of adolescents, mainly women, with gender dysphoria and no behavioral signs of such dysphoria during childhood"There are other articles about "over-diagnosing" as well. Look, I'm a 'live and let live' type of person, but I also don't want to see others led down a path because nobody is willing to look at an issue from all sides simply because people are too afraid to speak up when things don't add up.

I have seen this in youth sports, but I don't think I have ever heard about it in something so prestigious as the World Cup. "Ecuador are set to be KICKED OUT of the Qatar World Cup by FIFA and replaced by Chile' after claims that defender Byron Castillo is actually COLOMBIAN and was not eligible to play in their qualifying campaign"It also states that Italy could possibly get the spot if this occurs... could be interesting to watch what happens. I’ve ready about this a few times. The issues of Castillo’s paperwork have made multiple clubs back off from signing him. That being said, how would Italy get the spot? With the forfeitures for playing an ineligible player, Chile would rightfully gain that spot by getting the points. If FIFA DQ’s Ecuador but then bypasses a South American club for Italy, then it just proves how corrupt the organization is. Unless I’m missing something…. Sorry, I meant to post a link to it so others could investigate the claims. The Italy chance is more wishful thinking on their end... "The report also claims there is a faint hope from Italy that they might be able to take advantage of Ecuador's potential expulsion and be included in the World Cup despite being dumped out by North Macedonia in the play-offs. That might be possible if FIFA award Ecuador's place to the team with the best position in their World Rankings instead."

Yeah that’s annoying to have to buy stuff you never use. I like the game unis but the training ones are so depressing looking. Well I would say if they just want to say the $12 ball everyone has to buy but bring it to the first day of training and the coach will keep it thus them being "Team Balls" and then players don't have to bring their own from then on out, but if its not that way then there is no way my kid is going to bring a ball identical to everyone training on all the fields that particular night on all teams so no-one knows whose is whose. That was just not well thought out by SSA admins. Why require a ball in a kit that doesn't even say "SSA" on it. It just says Capelli. Probably cost Capelli what $1-2 a ball to make if that. Maybe a sharpie would distinguish one ball from another??

I heard that some moms at a club on the north side of town are filming a show right now that has been green lit. If true, and I have no reason to doubt this is true due to the general success of the genre - it is gonna be like watching a car crash. Can’t look away. We need to start a new thread guessing the name of the show. Of all the locations, why Atlanta? I doubt we are the craziest of the bunch. Texas, Cali, New Jersey... idk. Maybe it has to do with all the studio and production companies we now have in the ATL???

I’ll start: 1- The massive disadvantage a short goalkeeper has at U13 with full size goals. 2- Coaches who simply refuse to talk with parents. 3- Coaches standing together and looking at their phones during tryouts. It is a massive disadvantage for small goal keepers when jumping into a full-sized goal at U13. Hopefully, by U14 they have learned how to protect the upper part of the goal by either growing or getting stronger and using technique.

There are so many layers to this but here goes; If my math is correct, the extra year of eligibility will disappear after the 2023 class. That is because the freshman class of 2019-2020 is the last class that can take advantage of the 5th year. So when chatting with colleges, ask how many extra year athletes are on the team. The portal is a whole other can of worms. What a freshman is up against, is a seasoned and proven college player who Coaches know can produce given they have first hand experience playing D1/2/3/etc. versus a bright-eyed unproven freshman. Ask colleges about the depth they have at your kid's position. Some schools are struggling to find players for a particular position that they just use the portal till they are able to find a freshman that they can build and grow with. When it comes to monies for college, remember that a lot of colleges can stack funding. That means they can give you athletic money + scholastic money too. So an example would be going to UGA/KSU/GSU and getting the hope + athletic money which would generate an awesome package where you don't pay for anything. So keep those grades up! Golden Year!!! The summer before and during sophomore year attend one-day ID camps (imho overnite camps not worth it, unless you need your kids out of your hair). Start to fill out recruitment athletic profiles to show interest. Remember June 15th before your Junior year, you can start chatting with colleges legally. Here are some pointers that I hope help your kid kick off the recruitment process. Please feel free in reaching out if you have any questions I can answer or put them out on the forum. Lots of folks are just as or more knowledgeable... Good Luck!!! - Keep and maintain a high GPA - Make a list of schools, research them - Be realistic about your choice of schools - Create a YouTube channel to share videos - Keep videos lengths to 2-3 minutes of quality plays - Update and clean-up all your social media platforms - Create an email just for recruitmen(futsal.gawdess2022@...) - Collate videos during your sophomore year (first highlight reel, loading) - Attend an ID Camp where there is a panel of coaches to answer questions - Set realistic expectations for which colleges suit your skills and/or playing time - Let the kids drive this whole process, coaches are recruiting them, not you oh and Patience!, Patience!, Patience!... BTW: Did I mention please be PATIENT!!! As someone who went through this with my daughter, this is fantastic advice. The key is being realistic about where the fit is, what level, and the why. My daughter wanted to play soccer while going to college. Some kids want to go to college to play soccer. There’s a difference. It’s a lot of work and a lot of outreach needed. You and your kid will put in a ton of effort. Before every showcase, tourney, camp, email the coaches/schools attending. Make good, quality highlight vids. But don’t put so much pressure on the process that you take the fun out of the game. Most kids that want a place to play can find a place. Maybe not high level D1 but outside of the top 20-30 teams, the top D2 and some NAIA are equal programs, and may give you a better education. You mentioned it here, FG as well, about highlight videos. Does anyone have any tipsheets or guidance on how to create the highlight videos?? Our team uses the Veo and I have the access to the full length games, but don't know how to get it from the Veo to an edited YouTube video that can be sent out. Up until now, we just watch on the Veo and didn't need to make our own videos off of it. I know there are parents out there that have gone through this using Veo... please share your knowledge!! Is there editing software? Free or paid for? Does the video data need to be converted to a usable format? Are there any websites that can walk you through it? What other knowledge of the process is there that I am too uniformed to even ask? Thanks in advance for any insight you can share!

Registration fees of players that are actually in the club versus hundreds of players who want to be at the mighty tophat only to be told spots are available on the 4th team or lower for a majority of the players. Yeah it’s not the same more like a one day camp fee. Agreed it is not the same. As the parent of kids who have spent some of their time at Tophat, that pre-tryout camp is not an ID camp for the U13 and up. It is solely to train to be "ready" for tryouts and the top team players are not there. None of the Gold and few of the Navy kids go. My kid did not go. It is not the same as an ID camp. Don't go unless you want to be SCCL or lower and want to meet the coaches. So, if it isn't an ID camp, how do they identify/target possible players they would like to come to Tophat?? Just about all the other programs, big and small have some sort of session so the coaches can pitch the value of the club to potential players. Please share your knowledge having spent some time there... we are interested but would like to know how to get in front of coaches.

My daughter made a DiVarsity all star team. It seems like fun. Has anyone gone to this event before? What's it like? She also made her region's all-region 1st team. What's that? Is there a game involved or is it just to highlight players? If they play do they play the 2nd team? She's a freshman so this is all very new! What is a Divarsity team?, I hate to ask...

Maybe this website should have a permanently pinned topic thread where Tophat and CF can go to crap on each other??? I dunno, just a thought Call it "Tophat sucks, no, Concorde Fire sucks!" It would potentially free up the people interested in the actual topic headers like... "Possible additions to SE ECNL Girls Conference"

The brackets are set up way before the season even starts, so everyone knows which region slots play randomly I guess and the only thing they break up is each region so they can't play each other until a semifinal. I'd hazard to guess that since there isn't an 'official' rankings that this is the 'fairest' way to do it, but really it's just random and actually gives some teams a chance to look to dump a game at the end if they'd get a better draw... Yes I agree. Most didnt realize the brackets were set way before the season started. Actually the boys and girls brackets were set the same. It was randomly decided that Region x would play region y and such. Fair or not it was random. From my perspective no matter how it is determined you have to go through several great teams to win state. I think 7A is very even. I dont know about other classifications. In 7A only one region (Region 3) still has all 4 teams in the tournament. Is that a factor of them playing against Region 1 (southern part of the state)? Only time will tell. Most considered Region 3 to be the toughest with Walton, Harrison, North Paulding and Hillgrove typically carrying great teams... haha... sorry, but it was most definitely because they were playing Region 1, the southern part of Georgia. And I'm sorry to any folks on here from Region 1, it's not a shot at you, the talent pool in the metro Atlanta area is just to great to overcome for the rural area down south. It is random and therefore as a fair as it probably could be, it's just rough for teams that are not in a Region 3 scenario that have much harder competition to start off with.

I don't think I'm doing this response properly, but I'm trying to reply to the posts about Girls 7A. Based on Eurosport Scoreboard rankings, you have 4 of the top 10 girls teams (2, 4, 7, and 10) in one quadrant, while you have just one top 10 team (#9) in the other quadrant. I'm sure it'd be too big of an undertaking (or too controversial) to try to properly seed the teams, but it's too bad that some of the best match-ups will occur in earlier rounds. It does somehow seem a bit unfair that some teams are in really good regions where the 4th best team is really competitive, and then in some regions there may only 1 or 2 competitive teams at BEST. For instance, Dunwoody(7A) girls had to pull it out in an overtime win (1-0) with a 1 vs 4 seeded matchup, yet the Region 1 champs lose to Region 3's forth place team, (1-4).

Watched 7A Lambert girls play last night….. just ridiculous officiating! I watched one kid play absolutely reckless the entire night, to include throwing elbows and fouls up and down the pitch. Our club team has the most physical CDM in the league but she plays aggressive and within the rules of the sport. It’s always the marginal players with that stuff ! When will players learn that all that reckless crap never leads to consistent winning? Just injured players. As a general tip - it’s better not to denigrate a minor on a public forum. Even if you are right. Recommend remove the number as I’ve done in my quote. And refs are also a taboo subject, which is what my earlier comment was actually catered towards (in case there was any misunderstanding)

I get it, bang bang play, but why is Miles crouching-ducking down here trying to avoid the ball on goal 2: ya, maybe he had a verbal que from someone... like ..."leave it" or something?!? He could have also been thrown off by WTH Steffen was doing / no doing. I'm still trying to follow HIS thought process, he seemed lost in that whole scenario, seriously, follow his movements... so indecisive!!

Wow. Couldn’t have started better with Josef gifted an early goal and the team continued to dominate and create chances early. Then proceeded to shizat the bed. Dom came on for what… five minutes? and got tossed. Then the team showed a lot of fight and somehow clawed back a tie. Second goal was sweet. Can’t believe the Montreal keeper didn’t stop a 30 yard FK. Need to find highlights because they wouldn’t show replays of Dom’s RC nor the Montreal breakaway goal in the stadium. Agreed. I can't figure out why their keeper was SO slow to react on that Free kick. I also don't get the OVER-aggressive play by Dom. I get trying to raise the intensity level but that was WAY overboard. Here is the highlights with the aforementioned plays you requested: Youtube: link

Can we offically say that the transformation is complete? Concorde is no longer a destination club or even that competitive in the southeast region anymore on the boys side. Outside of AU NASA is now THE destination club in GA and the Southeast. Case in point the results from the last fortnight of games between the two clubs' 08 and 09 age groups That is: NASA vs Confire Premier and Confire Platinum. Nasa - 6 wins 1 tie 1 loss Premier - 0 wins 0 ties 4 losses Platinum - 1 win 1 tie 2 losses Not to mention NASA has every Boys ECNL team in either 1st or 2nd place in the region standings. Concorde? That was fast! Was it even two full years? No skin in the game on this... but just how big was/is that chip on your shoulder!! hahaha

In their search for answers over Katie's death, the couple said they believe she received an email regarding a potential disciplinary action from the university. "Katie, being Katie, was defending a teammate on campus over an incident and the repercussions of her defending that teammate (were possibly resulting in disciplinary action)," Steven Meyer said on TODAY. "We have not seen that email yet," Gina said. "She had been getting letters for a couple months. This letter was kind of the final letter that there was going to be a trial or some kind of something. This is the only thing that we can come up with that triggered something."" This is the part I hope we will get more clarification on... I read somewhere that the parents weren't allowed to be involved with the school issue?? idk

Has anyone here experienced consistency within clubs for girls soccer with the coach and roster. Specifically, in the 2012 and 2013 ages. We have had a very inconsistent experience with who coaches the games and the roster being made up of mixed ages and different players. We are looking for options for the next try outs but if these types of inconsistencies are common, then it would help in deciding where our daughter can have the best overall experience. It looks like you are in the early ages of club soccer. What it sounds like you are witnessing is what clubs refer to as "player pools". Some clubs (large or small) like this method to get everyone involved, especially at such a young age, and to see where certain players fit in a particular skill level. This way they can more evenly match competition to get the most growth out of the kids. Within that, you usually wind up with a core of "same-level" players and then "bubble" players that, depending on the week and the competition level, might fit, or not fit, as a team for that particular week. Often times, because a player might be moved from one pool to another pool, you also wind up getting a different coach for that particular week. However, you also mentioned mixing ages. Although you didn't specify, if they are doing that, it sounds like you might be at a smaller club?? This is typically done because they don't have the numbers to fill out multiple "same-level" teams. I could very well be wrong in my assumption. If you are looking for options, and have opinions on whether or not you want a consistent team for your child or see the value in pooling players, I would recommend contacting each potential club and inquiring about how they handle these young age groups (referencing whether or not they pool players, or have one consistent coach). Both "player pools" and a "single rostered" team can have its advantages and disadvantages. I don't know if one is better than the other, it kinda depends on what you are looking to get out of it for your child. Anyway, just my thoughts and insight.... Good Luck!

Anyone else think that the HS referees are worse, or much worse, than club?? I have seen some truly awful calls and non-calls in HS varsity soccer! Go get certified. Clearly you can do a better job. Hahaha... I guess my observation caused some disagreement with some on here. Sorry. It was just an observation and wanted to know if others saw it the same way. As for getting certified and doing it myself, I have a physical limitation, that doesn't mean I don't know what I am seeing or not seeing with my eyes. I was just curious as to others' interpretations of the quality compared to top level club refs. Also, as for HS parents... I also feel they are much worse at HS games than club games. I agree with someone on here that said its probably due to the distance from the field. I also think coaches in club crack down on it more.

I'm assuming they didn't water down the fields before the game and at halftime. /s They watered down the field to make the playing surface faster. It was like they were playing on ice. Seriously! I didn't think they would actually do it since the water would turn to ice before it hits the ground. Crazy! I mean... they are already playing basically on concrete, right? Or does the field have heaters??
