Don't think you will see this happen, USSF isn't expanding U13/U14 DA right now, especially with the addition of GDA.

In my humble opinion, DA should go the opposite way and drop all the agegroups besides the 2 older age groups. There I said it
.....I've heard rumors that all the current u12s sides would be getting the u13s and then the 14s the following year etc. Could be BS and a total BS rumor!

According to their website...
Current Applications
The Boys' Development Academy Membership Application is now available online here for the 2017-18 season. The application is open to any clubs that are not currently members of the Development Academy as well as any existing members wishing to expand to additional age groups. New clubs can apply for one of three options: U-12 only, U-12 to U-14, and full Academy. Existing Academy clubs can apply for one of three expansion options depending upon their current status: U-13 & U-14, U-13 to U-18/19, and U-16/17 & U-18/19. Existing Academy members are encouraged to contact their Technical Advisor to discuss the plans for the market.

I doubt it would happen but I wish the USSF in conjunction with the MLS opts for a two tiered track. The first would be run by the MLS clubs and would focus solely on players for the first team, whilst the second would be a DA Program run for players who would likely not make the MLS first team but would be great college players(scholarship). The first should be fully funded by the MLS teams while the second would be funded by the USSF. All the while doing away with the boys version of ECNL.

The first should be fully funded by the MLS teams while the second would be funded by the USSF. All the while doing away with the boys version of ECNL. I honestly see some holes in your wishes here. DA was founded on the premise that it would be the route to the USMNT and due to the lack of professional teams (Even for 2017 MLS season there will only be 22 teams), this would have left huge gaps in inentifying and developing talented players. Now I am not saying the experiment to date has been a huge success, however in making a 2 tiered system as you suggest basically takes away college options for MLS DA players and professional playing options for non MLS DA players. If you want only MLS teams to have DA then fine, but then you have to disband all other academies and go back to RPL/NPL play, we should also look at the new GDA, should this also then do away with ECNL as you have said for doing away with the soon to be boys version. There is a whole bag of snakes here, with money being the biggest part, for the US National teams to become/remain successful then we need a bigger stream of talented players being fed into the system so we have a bigger pool of options, this is a very long term process and we really can't expect results, 2017 will be USSDA 10th season, this really is still a program in it's infancy, I believe it needs tweeks but now isn't the time for wholesale changes, let's take a step back, look at what we think has worked, what we know hasn't and then streamline and simplify what is left. My personal opinion is a state the size of Georgia can accomodate only DA teams if we are serious about it being truley talented players. CA and TX 3 each, possibly 4 just due to the area covered and logistically players beijng able to attend practice etc. We could then see how NPL teams could interact with DA teams, is there an option for cross division tournaments, things like that. ECNL isn't going away either as it is a revenue stream and so far college coaches like it for recruiting, I can only see this continuing on the boys side, so we need a way to embrace it and bring it into the complete soccer fold, rather than the turf war with USYS which is happening now. Sorry got a little longer winded than I wanted.

Unfortunately to be competitive at the regional level at the older age groups I think the DA teams need to be an alliance like GA united. However - it's clear the concept doesn't work because no Single club truly invests in the alliance any more. It's too bad. DA teams should have a minimum of 2 coaches at every training session. Should be required by US soccer.
I'm sure the clubs know now. My gut is GA united goes away and UFA gets full DA.

Also the fee structure will be very interesting next year - I know it was mentioned somewhere here, but I heard Concorde would be charging more next year and not paying the associated travel fees and expenses. (Could be rumors, but a coach told a few of his parents this )
Anything more than the current $1950 would be very very bad

The other issue with 3 DA clubs in Georgia is scheduling--an odd team makes scheduling more difficult, and has teams traveling to play only one game in a weekend.

Soccerhouse... heard the same thing. This is going to get out of hand if the DA doesnt somehow step in and require the clubs to cover the cost of travel. This means clubs can charge whatever they want for the DA program on top of travel costs, coach exp, etc..
I just don't see any justification of why CF will charge more. Its not like they have any fields to maintain.
My son is in the DA program and I'm not happy at all. We can't even get private training from someone outside the club. I asked if we can get training from a UFA coach and an AtlUtd coach and it got denied.
This is going to get way worse before it gets better.

Hell look at the current u12 DA, didn't they charge about $300 more for basically the same thing as regular u12 academy? I joked with a friend and said if GA United was really working with Atlanta United, then kids especially goalies should be able to train with them once a week etc.... Granted there might be some rules/stipulations not allowing DA kids to train with other DA clubs, that i'm not sure. That could be the problem you are experiencing as well, but either way why are WE PUSHING THESE CRAZY RULES/STIPULATIONS ON 11/12 YEAR OLD KIDS. Tell a top level basketball player that and they will laugh in your face. I also think the future of Atlanta United is going to be the top of the top of the top. Every top player from the southeast and beyond will be attempting to play there. It will no doubt become the destination spot given their endless resources.

Yes it is real bad to be honest. Game time is real important but so is private training.
Yes, U12 DA is a joke. This structure is not for this age level and even the U13 age group as well. These kids need to be playing as much as they can. They should be allowed to train with whomever they want. This is a big mistake that Concorde is doing.

Just curious why you would want your kid to have private training from outside. Can he get it within CF? Is there even time to do outside training?

footy... The 3 nights a week is not really goalkeeper training. He trains with the team so sitting in goal stopping shots will not get you anywhere. He needs at least 3 hours of specialized keeper training in order to be technically sound. The current DA really only provides 2 hrs of training for DA Keepers and that's taking away 1 day team training.
Yes and no about having outside training.
First problem...I have been requesting winter training for over 90 days (right after Fall season). No one from the club has responded to my request. Second... For goalkeeper training, not a lot of coaches I trust. If club is not responding I have to find training. UFA or AltUtd coaches have been recommended to me from a trusted source. Third.. Even if my son wasnt a goalkeeper I would want some other training like speed, agility, Foot skill training, finishing etc.. 4.5 hours a week is not enough training. Adding an extra 3 hours has been ideal in the past.
Also just to add. It wouldnt be much of an issue if he could guest play or play in other tournaments. But being in DA he cant so we are limited to the number of games he can play. Example is last year he played in 6 tournaments (avg 3 games each tourn) plus regular season games (26 Fall/Spring) and guested with some teams (6 games). Plus several 3v3 tournaments and Futsal tournament. That's over 50 games a year. This year.. 26 games
So really no need for extra training.
Having played in England and Brasil they recommend to play as many games as you want to play. Street ball every day and night. Thousands and thousands of touches a day. I just think US Soccer is missing the boat by limiting the amount of touches for 11, 12 and 13 year olds. At these ages they should be touching the ball as many times as they can.

Not disagreeing with your overall point, but you can still get touches on the ball without extra training. You said it yourself, street ball day and night. None of those Brazilian kids are paying for 1 on 1 professional training sessions. I guess it's different for your case since goalkeeping takes a certain amount of special training attention as opposed to field players.

Agree, UFA and AUFC keeper training is great, although even the GU DA goalkeepers only train with Gaucho 1-2 times/week. It was better when GU DA trained at the same fields as Gaucho so the GKs could train with him for an hour or hour and a half twice a week (or more/less depending on the coach's training plans) then join the rest of the team afterwards. I would have thought CF keeper training would be good since Felipe trained under Gaucho, but it sounds like logistically the kids aren't really getting much training with him? Would CF allow your son to get private training through someone not affiliated with a DA team (such as a coach from Oglethorpe)? At the older age groups, doesn't DA practice 4 days a week? So that's another 1.5 hours of touches.

You can get the touches in for sure. Problem is how many kids are in the neighborhood playing street soccer?? In mine... none. Best purchase ever made is a rebound net for my son. Amazing. For every 2000 touches he get 30min free time on his device. Be surprised how many touches he will do...lol You don't have to "pay to play" in Brasil. Soccer is free. Youth soccer will change here in the US if the US Federation follows the rules like all counties in the world. Solidarity payments is the way to go. www.espnfc.us/united-states/story/2935755/alejandro-bedoyas-youth-club-to-demand-cut-of-transfer-fee

footy... Love Felipe. Just a perfect coach for my son and he responds well to his style. Not only is he a keeper coach they also have him as a regular coach so his time is very limited. The U12's only train 3 nights a week. Most of the time during regular season it is fine to get Felipe's time. It takes a lot of logistics as the club doesnt have centralized fields. So being in the North its very hard to to get to some of the training. Plus, training locations and times have changed several times in the Fall.
We would find other coaches but have been down that road before. I only trust a few coaches with my son and style of play.
Its the communication that lacks.

Ironically by now expanding DA to u12 to u15 etc single year age groups and adding more clubs, makes you even question the switch to birth years more now. Seems "regular" non da/ODP soccer could have been left alone as is to continue their academic year system.

i really dont get the logic in this. I think the federation has no clue what they are doing. They see that money$$ is on the table so they are like hey let's add 5,000 to 8,000 more kids into DA.
What support is going to come from the federation? At the U12 level, I saw nothing!! Oh wait... they did give us a badge to put on a shirt. They are making clubs use all resources to get DA and its just a regular league now.
Now you might as well not do DA and shine light a bright light.
