Heard from someone at NSA that they were merging with UFA. Any thoughts?? Heard the same from a coach (not an NSA coach). Said that the merge would create one of the strongest, if not THE strongest club in GA.

Nope...nothing yet. Haven't heard anything regarding spring placement in Athena either. My girls had a 2-day training camp but I had to work today so I didn't get to ask about it. If I find anything out, I'll post here.

If I find anything out, I'll post here. According to the GA Soccer website, spring placement brackets were to be released today. The office is close so not sure who's 'releasing' and what 'released' means. There is another thread with the details of the timeline - supposedly we'll know spring schedules by February 14 - several weeks earlier than last year - YAY!!! For U13 - you can kind of figure out the joint brackets (loosely) - example = C/D brackets - #1 on each side moves to B - half of each side is C - rest are D - two bottom teams on each side may fall all the way to E. IF your daughter's team finished mid pack - it's a toss up and may come down to which DOC works best or goal differential! Some teams completely fold but that's usually at the lowest levels.

Yep...I am just about 100 percent sure my daughter's team will drop to D and since they are near the bottom, could even drop to E. I think they can compete in D with no problem and a drop to E would be a bit much but like you said, sometimes to comes down to which DOC works best. Some of their losses were pretty close 1 goal losses. The only ones that weren't were Roswell, CGSA and TSC who really all deserved to start in B or A even. Roswell played a structured game that looked like an A team out there. I think some teams will fold going into next year as the players get involved in other things that compete with soccer as they only have so much free time and something's gotta give.

I think NSA was supposed to have a board meeting last night, have to assume this was the main topic on the agenda. There is 100% truth that discussions have taken place and a very good possibility it will happen. i have acquaintances involved with both clubs. if they operate independently but under the same umbrella their is lots of strengths. most importantly the ability to share/game pass players from the other club for games. would make a strong case with an ECNL application, but don't see another club getting it, but ufa is making a strong case on the girls side. they have some quality girls teams, that play great possession soccer. i'm not as familiar with their u15 and above teams though.

This troll, nthsoccerdad19, pulled out this old thread for some unknown reason. Probably just to mess with people. This is discussing UFA Norcross which was NSA years ago...check the date on the original post. This guy is just messing around.

I will ask the question, how did it work out for Norcross? They lost there best coach TA and many others but they still have quality coaches. I know it didn't turn out so well for UFA Norcross Eagles. Just asking

Let's stop replying to them except to have the first reply say "This is a troll. Do not reply."

Honestly, some years later, I'm curious to hear from someone who was there before and after the transition. Did it actually benefit Norcross, or did they lose their best players to Forsyth?

I'd be curious to know from the Dacula DSC people also since joining GSA. That was a club that put teams into R3PL also.

There are at least two age groups for girls at Norcross that have players that have played together for YEARS. Rare to find on most teams at any club.
DA for boys is at Norcross so no not many boys left for Fowler Only a few over all age groups left for Fowler for girls DA anyone one else who left (from the original Fury years) left for ECNL.
Actually have 3 former Fowler girls on our Norcross team.
I asked the long term parents I knew of and had no complaints about the merger years later. Mostly just another blip on the ever changing landscape of youth soccer in Atlanta.

I'd be curious to know from the Dacula DSC people also since joining GSA. That was a club that put teams into R3PL also. touché I believe the first year on the girls side was the toughest as there was maybe some movement of Dacula’s top girls to the South location and at the same time maybe too much loyalty to some mediocre girls already in Lilburn. Over the past couple of seasons, I’ve seen a little more movement of players between teams both up and down. (Which in my opinion is a good thing.). The club looks to be stronger because of it at all levels. On the boys side, IMO Dacula saved GSA. Historically GSA boys teams had a long impressive run. However, a large amount of players were lost to AU and during the BK breakaway. The influx of talented players and coaches from Dacula was immediately seen in the younger age groups. Not to mention some movement of players from outside the club that were maybe more assessable to the new locations.

I'd be curious to know from the Dacula DSC people also since joining GSA. That was a club that put teams into R3PL also. A few years ago there were people at DSC complaining because the club didn't have ECNL. They lost quite a few players because of this. Now that they have ECNL to offer they are retaining a higher percentage of players. I cannot speak for the boys side, but for the girls side IMO there is still more loyalty shown to the south players for ECNL. It might be because there is better talent from that location, or the girls were coached better at a younger age, I don't know. I just see it tougher for north girls to break into the ECNL rosters.

Interesting to hear that the boys DA is run out of Norcross, I didn't know that. I had always assumed UFA ran all DA and NPL out of Fowler.
As for the GSA side, I am still a bit surprised they generally base the SCCL out of Lilburn even though I realize the SCCL practice in both locations.
