Anyone know whats going on? Is this still an issue of his "maturity and professionalism" or did someone steal his passport on the way to the airport?

Am I the only one who’s getting tired of this guy? He’s clearly not the next big thing like they want us to believe. So far, his biggest moves have been getting banned from the MLS Championship game and forgetting his passport when traveling to a game in another country...

He keeps shooting himself in the foot. He really needs a mentor to shake the ish out of him and remind him of the possibility of wasting this golden opportunity. First the U-20 Nat'l Team, now a golden opportunity to play with so many out for AU and he forgets his passport 🤔 IMO he keeps showing more and more that maybe he's not the consummate professional or ready to be a professional. I mean how do you forget your passport? The travel coordinator always sends out a travel checklist to all players leading up to your departure with times, locations to meet and oh year things to bring with you for the trip. Passport and Greencard were on the list... smdh

Let's remember this kid is 18 yrs old and is still in his teens. He has worked his butt off his entire life to be the best soccer player out of Atlanta. He has money in his pocket and now maybe getting introduced to Freedom, Wine, Women and Want!!! One of those previously mentioned 4 have knocked off some of the greatest athletes that have ever walked this earth. He has to mature, he has to grow so let's send him some positive energy that he may find his way back on the path that he initially started on.
FG--You are absolutely correct about needing a mentor or maybe 2, one that has stayed true to his craft and rode thru the storm and another that was truly gifted but let worldly things knock him/her off their pedestal only to rise again.
Besides DV, he's the best I've seen in Atlanta. Wishing you the best AC, you worked too hard to let it slip away.

I guess the reality is there is only so much hand holding you can have - at some point the player needs to man up and own up the their responsibilities. My guess is also the foreign players probably also have more assistance with these issues given English isn’t their primary native language.
I’m rooting like hell for the kid, known him since he was a u13 - he’s super talented but starting to think for many reasons especially given the on field success of AU - this club might not be the best fit for young Americans trying to crack this lineup. If Bello ever gets healthy maybe he can find away back in but probably will take an injury from a current player or in a year or 2 when parkhust really isn’t a viable option at outside back.

Hate to see this happen...for someone to have so much talent and potential it is all going to waste at the moment. His chances are running thin, hope AC turns it around.

It takes a lot more than skill and athleticism to be successful at the highest levels. Excuse him for his age all you want, but he's clearly not the complete package that people wish he was.

His best option is to identify as a female and take Rapinoe's spot on the WNT.
Don't laugh, it's coming soon to a field near you.

Something doesn't smell right. He couldn't call a friend or family member to run by his place and bring the passport? Does Atl fly commercial or do they charter? Why not take a later flight?

Alex Trebek - "No I'm sorry Andrew Carleton.... Canada IS indeed outside of the United States" you wagered everything and your final total is $0

They fly commerical and quite frankly I'm glad they left him home, if they would have waited to get another flight what impactful lesson would he have learned. They did the right thing. When I coached college if you missed the bus, we didnt wait for you.

Im sure it wasn't an option. At that point they probably just sent him home

What is more confusing is that NO professional team would only travel to a game with only the 11 players and 7 subs.
They all travel with a squad of 20 players incase of injuries in warm ups or players getting sick.

Would have been a nice reward for a hardworking player to get a last minute travel invite. Maybe not possible if teams have to submit a roster x days before a match- I don't know those rules. Would have sent a message to Carlton as well that other teammates are ready to take his place if needed. I like the kid and I hope he gets his head on straight for his own sake. I've spent a lot of time around college football (American) who had talent on loan from God but just couldn't get out of their own way. Pretty soon folks stop giving you chances.

I've spent a lot of time around college football (American) who had talent on loan from God but just couldn't get out of their own way. Pretty soon folks stop giving you chances. Let me start by saying, I luv the kid and his family. Unless they are putting up a front, they are truly nice and decent people and you can't help but to root for their collective success. However, this is big boi soccer(US Version). My daughter once forgot her shin guards. We'd always told her, no shinguards, no play, period. Guess what, she had to sit on the bench and be their #1 cheerleader for that game. Mind you, a teammate had an extra pair and offered them to her, but we said NOPE. Guess what, she's never forgotten it ever again. I think the moment you forget your passport/passcard you should be left back in the ATL. Plus, he lives on the northside of town. AU usually has players convene about 2 hours before departure. So unless he had a police escort, that would have been a tough ride back with our traffic. He should not have been allowed to go regardless though, he needs to learn from this. I bet with all the discussion on old media and social media he won't make that same mistake again. We constantly make excuses for many of the millennials. There are consequences for your actions or inactions in this case. The sad part was for some reason, AU chose to take 18 instead of their normal 19 so no one could take his spot at such a late hour. He has to own it and I think should go so much as to make amends to his team for letting the team down. We all have smartphones these days, set a reminder, find an app with a task list or a check list you can check before you leave the house. Passport(check), Boots(check), Shingards(check), I mean its not rocket science. Again, he needs one of the veterans like Jeff Larentowicz to really sit him down and learn him on how to act and be a "professional"

Question, does Rapinoe or her camp give you kickbacks or do you get signed T-shirts or sports bras from her? Regardless of how we feel about her stance on whatever, you do know by constantly bringing her up and reminding us of her, you are surreptitiously promoting her platform, right? This is especially true when you insert her into a conversation that has no bearing on what this thread is about. As a reminder, we were discussing Andrew Carleton and by default AU, not the WWC, not the USWNT or any of Rapinoe's American Born right to take a stance for whatever she chooses. Just thought I'd point that out.

He’s already been out of the country twice to play, so this was just a complete lack of focus. Something FDB has already pointed out before. Could be his last strike...

Anyone know how other sports handle passports and travel -- I just always assumed the club's travel coordinator would hold onto each players passport for safe keeping.....But now that I think about it the nba players are probably taking a chartered flights so a little bit different than traveling coach through regular airports.
