Generation Adidas is still trying to send our kids to Madrid to train with Real Madrid over spring break ... Well if while passing through four different security checkpoints during the round trip the parent or their child are quarantined for two weeks, that’s not a problem right? I think I would have to pass on that opportunity.

Any clubs thinking of changing travel plans or dates? Rumor has it that DA gave each of the clubs a choice in determining future travel for games based on their state's response to the virus. There are games this weekend that will be impacted but the announcements and confirmation S have yet to be made by the GA clubs. This will impact the rest of the season as tournaments and showcases will be canceled in certain states.

Except the UK. Not sure why the UK as there are many European nations with fewer cases than the UK, but whatever.

Honestly given that the majority of games played by any youth soccer team (even DA) is going to be far less people than professional or college sports, I think it would be stupid to cancel all car type travel. I understand maybe not doing flights, but anything driveable shouldn't be an issue. There has to be less than 50-100 people at any given youth soccer game. That is an absolute low risk. Schools are a higher risk than an open air soccer game.

EU has free travel throughout so chance of carrying virus from one country to another is higher. UK and Ireland have fewer cases than mainland Europe.
Jeff Cup should not wait until two days before teams start traveling to decide about girls showcase. If the NBA can suspend it's season and March Madness goes on without fans, I'm guessing the city of Richmond and girls soccer can survive closing of the showcase. This event is designed to have girls in front of college coaches- how many of them will not be making the trip because their schools are cancelling travel? How many teams are going to decide to stay home or individual families? I realize there is a lot of money at stake and hotels have all made deals, but waiting just makes it worse for everyone.

Decatur schools announced that sporting events will have coaches and players only. Only region games will be played. Away games will only be played if host school abides by same rules.

hum.... MLS just suspended -- will be interesting to see if all youth sporting events get suspended/cancelled next.... For HS soccer, GHSA is leaving the decisions up to individual schools or school boards which is the right thing to do. I think we might see a temporary suspension of play later this month throughout the week after spring break. Still gives plenty of time to make up region games and mitigates the risk of the quick spread of the virus.

Well that makes no sense at all at low attendance soccer games. The majority of he risk is transmission between players (with poor adolescent hi gene)and possibly staff with team busses, locker rooms, shaking hands, high fives, group celebrations, water bottles, team meals, etc. Having the parents not attend will have absolutely no impact at all. There not looking at the real problem areas

There not looking at the real problem areas That was what I was saying with my post as well. A youth soccer game is usually very low attendance. I would not think it would qualify as a mass gathering. I'm sure there are some exceptions to the rule, but really the school and being at school is more of an issue than an outdoor small scale soccer game.

The good thing about high school sports is that they’re usually available to stream live and on-demand via the NFHS Network. A few schools haven’t installed these robot cameras yet, but nearly all of Cambridge HS home and away games that take place in the stadium, or gymnasium can be watched on a computer or phone. www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/cambridge-high-school-milton-gaapps.apple.com/us/app/nfhs-network/id1116186798The coaches can feed the game to Hudl.com for post game coach analysis and review with the players. Public schools generally have the NFHS Network automated cameras. I don’t think Kings Ridge has the capability yet, but I know off at least two private schools that do: Marist and Pope. If you don’t want to be shut out of team only games try to find a way to assist the team on game day. I do the pre-game keeper warmup for my daughter’s club soccer games. I’m usually the penalty time keeper for my son’s HS JV lacrosse games.

I'm sure everyone will follow with suspending games. even schools. Will be interesting. All it takes is one player to get it and the liability would be crazy.
The N1H1 was crazy bad but nothing like this hype.

Not so much concern about not attending games, though I enjoy watching, but if they are concerned enough to attempt to take action there is most likely a risk they are attempting to mitigate. If that’s actually what they decide I’d hope concerned parents would make the decision not to let their player attend. It’s literally just HS soccer

The N1H1 was crazy bad but nothing like this hype. H1N1 killed over 200,000 people worldwide. Some estimates over 500,000. It had a lower fatality rate than COVID 19 but it killed young people. This kills the elderly and high risk people. Kids have symptoms like a cold and sometimes no symptoms at all. The hype with this is a bit much, but if it saves some of our parents/grandparents then I guess it is worth it. We all need to be better about staying home when sick, but we have gotten complacent. I DO think this is a bit over the top and that to cancel all youth sports is silly. Just stay home if you are sick like we all should anyway and the risk to kids and their parents is low.
