Is this what you were referencing? Will an expanded DPL be the platform to challenge ECNL?
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: April 18, 2020 From: National Leadership Group of the Development Player League Subject: DPL expands to Include Top Tier, “Girls Academy League” The DPL format that has served so many of our members well will be restructured and enhanced. With our players at the forefront of our thinking, we will implement a new tier called the “Girls Academy League”, consisting primarily of former Girls DA Clubs. Since the news breaking of the demise of the DA, we have been inundated with requests from clubs to expand the DPL from all areas of the country. By unifying DA clubs from conferences across the country we have found a way to maintain several of the defining standards of the Development Academy with flexibility in two key areas; permission for all players in the Girls Academy League to participate in High School Soccer and revising the substitution rules to encourage clubs to better utilize their player pools, especially when showcasing their players to college coaches. We feel by giving the autonomy to clubs to determine what’s best for their membership we can take what worked for us in the DA and erase the obstacles for our players to have a more enjoyable and diverse experience. During the upcoming months we are aware of the challenges we face especially when it comes to travel. Each conference will work on a calendar that falls in line with the recommendations from Health Organizations and Government, while maintaining a competitive schedule and showcase opportunities for the teams. The Girls Academy League fully intends to have crossconference matches, college showcases and a National Championship Series for the 2020/2021 Season and we will release more information on how that is structured in the near future. We strongly believe that strong leadership from some of the most talented organizations in our country will be able to maneuver these difficult times and unite, providing our players with a league and showcase platform that will exceed the level of the DA through clear communication, honest feedback and loyalty to our membership. As disappointed as we are in the decision from our Federation, we feel we have a unique opportunity to take the reins and introduce a more collaborative approach to player development. Our organization is poised to take a bold step in the development of talent in this country and we thank you for your continued support and trust of your club and their leadership.

Who is Central Florida Development Academy? Especially given that IMG and West Florida Flames are in it and no DA team was in Orlando after the first season. Jacksonville is not central Florida so that doesn't count USA.

Popcorn Popped... Returning to the TH Decision 2020 Watch House-party 👀👀 Meaning the player decisions? Because looks like the club decision is already clear. They made a new league through DPL. My interpretation of the announcement is that it will be a two tiered league? Did anyone else read that?

If tophat is hoping to retain top players for 2 tiered DPL, the 04 05 and 06 top players need to bail immediately

Supposedly TH DA teams had a zoom call on this at 2pm. Should hear more about it soon. But Weston was apparently saying that DPL was better than ECNL so they must be in the "new" league.

So "local games" SC Surf from Charleston SC Weston, Palm Beach Gardens, Pinecrest (All from south fl) IMG, West Fl,CFLDA whom I assume is a new club all from central Fl. *Weren't all the FL teams the weaker DA teams??*
Assume 1 cross conference trip to TX or to CA, and a college Showcase or two.
Guess it's time to gas up the Tophat private planes. How do you sell this when there are 5 ECNL teams in town? Crazy how the number 1 ranked club in the country could fall to 4th or 5th in Atlanta in a week. Crazy times.

This right here is what makes the forum fun... No club in their right mind would say a potentially newly created league would be as good as ECNL. So I call BS on this rumor.

You can go to the DPL site and they updated the clubs (took off San Diego Surf, Charlotte and Real So Cal). Weston is on there. I agree that no one probably BELIEVES that statement, but I would not doubt that they are SAYING it. There are several really good west coast and Texas clubs that remain in this new league. I just think the east coast clubs are weaker (minus Tophat) compared to the ECNL. Christian Lavers said that ECNL could not add all of the DA clubs. Especially not this year. That means that some really good clubs are going to be left out (much like it used to be before DA). I think that this looks like A LOT of travel on the east coast. It is possible that some other clubs will join on the east coast that will make it stronger (further north) but who knows.

What else are they going to say.....we lost DA and we are not getting ECNL so y'all get to go through a year of lots of travel against 2nd teams. They are trying to save what they can anyone would say this. Plus after having a daughter play dpl there were teams that were good especially in Southern California. Now that is probably going to change but who knows as I remember everyone said 3 years ago ECNL was dead because there was no way US Soccer would fail.

So what’s the summary from the news? DPL over ecnl No ECNL is obviously better. Just saying there were DPL who would have played with anyone. Take the 01 02 TH they had 7 or 8 D1 commits to top schools including Davidson and Georgia. Now they were the ECNL team from the year before but anyone who played them had to lace up their shoes tight as they were going to have a game.

If Tophat does stay DPL, they really could use a Georgia club partner

If Tophat does stay DPL, they really could use a Georgia club partner AFC Lightning ought to take this chance to see if they can get in. They have strong teams in several age groups. It would help them keep their best girls and make their club stronger.

Solar is still on the DPL website. So what does that mean? They had DA and ECNL this year. That makes it seem like teams are still negotiating because I don't think ECNL will leave out Solar. FC Dallas, maybe.
