Will we have a full Fall season even though cases are going up by the thousands?

With the way things are going, I am not sure that we will finish summer practices Much less start in the fall. Kids overnight camp just got cancelled because a counselor tested positive. With the rise in cases from 18-29 year olds ( age of a number of coaches), soccer will be pulled soon.

The kids I’ve seen aren’t doing very well at social distancing either. Got a friend whose daughter tested positive-she’s fine-they are worried about giving it to grandma.

I am not so sure. People have "virus fatigue." The cases are going up like crazy in a lot of places but rather than shutting things down, most states are just doing mask requirements. Obviously that doesn't work for soccer games and the kids, but I could see them letting the training go on with social distancing and the coaches in masks and if we can get the cases back down again going ahead with things in the fall. We are living in a new normal and this will be around for a while. We did not get it under control initially before we started to open up and the cat is out of the bag. I don't think people (including government leaders) will go for a stay at home order again as we see it won't work unless we get stricter with it and do it longer. I don't want to stay at home again, but I will happily wear a mask everywhere I go (except running outside where I take a wide berth around anyone I encounter anyway).

I was optimistic we had learned our lesson. I hate to say it now but is becoming unlikely will be any sports in 2020. I hope I'm wrong but I'm afraid the worst in general is yet to come. And if there was any excuse back in January, there is absolutely none now and if you doubt it, just do some research on South Korea.

I’d like to see the kiddos back out there mixing it up.

I wonder if being outdoors/Vitamin D are having a significant impact on the morbidity rates. Did the lockdown suggestions that people stay indoors play a major role in morbidity in March/April?

I doubt it. If/when schools start back, it will only take one teacher to test positive. That will mean - I am Guessing- that school will have to close/sanitize and implement testing.
That will mean kids not being at practice (for any sport) and additional protocol for testing of kids and anyone who that teacher could have come in contact with. Just picture dominos.......
Is there a protocol set up at clubs for this type of situation?

Many districts have released back to school plans. Most are going back on campus with an option for virtual for students wanting that option. Masks are encouraged but not required as it would be difficult to enforce. They will do seating changes, cleaning protocols, etc.

I do not think so. The areas near the equator and in the southern hemisphere had no differences compared to far north countries.

Hope you all landed at a club with a written cancellation policy or asked for one from those that didn’t.

I do not think so. The areas near the equator and in the southern hemisphere had no differences compared to far north countries. What I have heard that is somewhat related is the indoors vs the outdoors argument. The more southern states are on the up tick as people in hot climates are staying indoors more due to air conditioning (Arizona, Fla, Texas, etc). In the winter time the northern states were indoors more due to winter months and heating. So, not so much south vs north hemispheres, but more toward which population was in indoor settings for longer periods of time.

Yes we will play in the fall. Everyone is only thinking in terms of "what if someone tests positive." The real question is: "What happens IF someone gets it?" The answer: nothing worse than a cold or minor flu. The media is treating like if you get it it is a death warrant. It's not.
Two of my friends got it and didn't even know they had it and they are in there late 40's. They only tested because they were exposed to someone who tested for it.
For 99.8% of the kids in soccer, probably 25% of players in Georgia have already gotten it 90% probably didn't realize it. If we don't shut down sports over a major flu outbreak, we shouldn't shut down over CV19.
I said it back in March and I'll say it again: this is only an issue because of politics and the ramifications for the 2020 elections.
The numbers will rise because testing is easier and more are tested now than March.

I said it back in March and I'll say it again: this is only an issue because of politics and the ramifications for the 2020 elections. The numbers will rise because testing is easier and more are tested now than March. Impressive, submitting two contenders for “dumbest entries on the forum” in a single post. Let’s start with your long running opinion that COVID is no worse than a cold or “minor flu.” Not only has that thought process been debunked numerous times, neither a cold or the flu have potentially lifelong effects on a person’s lungs, heart, kidneys, or brain. There is evidence that COVID can negatively impact each of those vital organs. This is from the mouths and studies of epidemiologists and infectious disease experts, so your constant “it’s like the flu, guys!” trumpeting is just ridiculous and irresponsible. I want and hope we are able to have a full, safe Fall season as much as anyone else but Come. On. With that nonsense. Finally, thanks for pointing out to the rest of us that more positive results will occur with more testing... I’m sure no one on here has the logical capabilities to figure that out without your “this is all politically driven even though I’m the one who consistently changes the subject to politics” forum expertise.

I just did a google search on this and studies out of Wuhan shows lung damage has occurred in elderly patients that had received hospitalization. How this relates to young people playing soccer is questionable

"What happens IF someone gets it?" The answer: nothing worse than a cold or minor flu. Sweet! That makes me so happy that I didn't get a call about a dead relative yesterday.. from covid.
Hmm.. maybe he was a democrat, because it's all political, right? It's all made up for soundbites and the 120k dead are 'crisis actors', right? Maybe he didn't even exist and the 'lamestream media' just made him up for ratings. Yeah, that's it.

Could we all just STFU about political leanings or medical advice from non-experts and get back to pro/rel, which league is best, Big 5 vs the world, and other such banalities?

PM me if this is a serious question and you are not just stirring things up to see if you can slam SCCL, ECNL or some other league not related to USYS

I think information is relevant to all of us who have kids that play sports. There must be some relevant study on the real effects on kids. Obviously no one wants to permanently damage their kids lungs or other organs. If this is the case my kid will not be going to soccer school or church until a vaccine eradicates covid. Is there a good source of info on this. This does not have to be a political discussion.

I actually DID get a call yesterday about a close relative dying of complications from covid. And we have honeybadger over here pretending he's a fox news medical correspondent spouting bullshizat. My DEEPEST apologies I upset someones feefees.
