It will be interesting to see what new clubs enter ECRL. The ECRL was initially piloted as a pathway for Clubs seeking consideration into ECNL. I believe this is still the case. I would think this is an attractive option for some very good Georgia clubs that may currently be struggling with identity and player pathways.

Looking at the SCCL Club results, Roswell has a strong case to be included as an ECRL team for both boys and girls. Ambush has a strong argument to be included for the boys.

Or it could be that the parent misunderstood what they were told. I'm not saying clubs aren't bad at communication (narrator voice: "THEY ARE") but sometimes parents hear what they want to hear. Ya, no. I didn't want to get into details or the extended version of what the parents were told, but it was not a standard club's "bad at communication" situation ( Morgan Freeman narration: "THEY ARE") ... it was an attempt to "spin" and intentionally leave out all of information. I'm not trying to place blame on this club in particular, they just happen to be the one I hear this particular incident about... and it could just be that coach or age group. Parents are left to education themselves on this crazy, backwards youth soccer world we all now live in because often times, as the OP alluded, the clubs might not have your best interests in mind. Thank god for sites like this, where you can glean enough information to learn the system and gain the knowledge it takes to navigate the stupid soccer landscape we all face. That's what originally brought me here. Fair enough and I hear ya on the miscommunication from clubs, sometimes intentional, sometimes not.

So long as CC at GSA lets them in...
At this point half the biggest 10 clubs are in ECNL/ECRL, half are in GA/DPL...and all are in SCCL in some form.

Other than day or even 1-night trips to neighboring states for regular season games (Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina), overnight travel should be reserved for tournaments and showcases. Boys ECNL SE has done a good job eliminating Florida from the Southeast Conference. ECNL Southeast should be Georgia (AFU, CF x2, GSA, UFA), Alabama (ALFC) and South Carolina (CESA, SC United). There should be a crossover event with ECNL Florida 2 weekends a year (one in Florida, one in Georgia). That would be a reasonable 18-game season with one weekend out of town. Then there would be the required 2-3 showcases. ECNL FLorida should add another Tampa-area and another Miami-area club though.
But here I am thinking logically.

I have heard of friends at 2 local clubs whose players were offered the “ECRL” team with a “chance to possibly train and guest play in ECNL”. Remember, ECRL is basically the current SCCL teams with a fancier name for next season. Also, when you are second team at a club you get labeled second team. The bigs clubs are always looking for the shiny new object to fill their ecnl openings the following season and rarely is that from their own second team. At UFA, the ECNL-R teams will be the old NPL teams, not the SCCL teams. With the other big clubs with multiple locations it may be similar

Is it better to play on a winning ECRL team with a good coach or a last place ECNL team? Parents can probably find their kid a spot at another club on one of the lower rank ECNL teams but is that experience worth it? Are you asking if its better to play ECRL or play at AFU? 😎

I know it is easy to pick on a single club, but did anyone realize that in ECNL, UFA girls finished below AFU girls in U13 - U15?
When you look at the standings for SCCL girls (both Spring & Fall), UFA & AFU are very similar and typically finished within one place of one another.
I realize UFA has NPL and that would probably help them in SCCL. However, as bad as AFU is in some age groups, UFA isn't much better and might even be worse.
By the way, we aren't at either of those 2 clubs, so I don't have a dog in the fight.

AFU finished above both UFA and Concorde Premier in 3 girls ECNL age groups (so half). These 3 clubs all average around 8th in standings across all age groups. AFU doesn't have any "strong" teams and cannot really compete with GSA or CF Platinum.

It was Campbell at Gsa (who by ECNL rules) vetoed all new additions to the Metro Atlanta area.

I agree. Outside of an age group or two, the Big 6 is really like the Big 3! Lots of piling on when it comes to AFU for some reason.

Sure they may not have won many games but a lot were 1 goal games. Your ass like most on here must me pretty wide from speaking out of it.

Since Santos has the city to get on board with things and that means political thought process I would be surprised if they change back especially if they get a GA offer the following year. Sometimes bridges get burned with stuff like that. It will be interesting to follow

I assume you're a parent from that team, congrats on a win and a tie against Concorde, but the table is pretty clear on quality of teams (by record). From a win/loss standpoint, its NOT a strong team. 1-goal losses are still losses. Grow some thicker skin.

Personally I do not care at all if 13 year old kids are losing games 1-0 or winning games 1-0 if the games are close then everyone is learning something and at that age, learning more about the game is the only "result" that matters. I get tired of listening to people give people a hard time about bottom of the table U13 and U14 teams. Who cares?

No worries, I was making an observation about AFU's ECNL teams not generally being on the same level as CF Platinum and GSA. Sure, they'll be competitive in games, its ECNL-level competition, but I'd guess the overall record against CF Platinum and GSA be pretty poor. Its more credit to the level of GSA and Concorde's first teams who are on average top 3rd of the bracket, rather than denigrating AFU. Hell, I said above that AFU/UFA/CF Premier are all basically the same level. The only real difference is that UFA has "strong" teams in the older age groups. Maybe AFU will be stronger next year, but for the past 3 years I've been following, on average the club is bottom 3rd of the bracket (and that's okay). Mirza's 05's were an exception last year IIRC.
The 1-goal losses argument sounds like something the badger would pull out. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I know that a few of the "platinum "07 &08s girls are seriously considering their offers that have been made to them at clubs closer to their homes. At some point, even the most dedicated parents are gonna choose to surrender to the ATL traffic and stay closer to home...

I think you are missing NASA in your list, especially since it is in first place in several boys age groups and top 4 in almost all ... not to mention Top Hat is an elite girls program. ... and I still can’t understand why anyone endorses CF x2 ... their results suggest one team in ECNL is enough.

Our SCCL-CLUB played ECRL teams this past fall and won 4/5 games. ECRL isn't all that. The Atlanta ECRL teams would dominate the Florida teams.
