Mistercalcio: you can mock me for spelling Concorde wrong, that seems to be par for the course with you if I look at your other posts. And you can call parents arrogant if you want . Again par for the course, you are the one who seems to be the “ authority” on everything. I am not sure what misinformation I am putting out ? And no I do not think parents / boys who play in the MLS - Next league are gullible to think they are getting a contract or even the kind of exposure you refer to. If there was a youth football league called NFL - Next you think participates think that’s their path to the NFL . Sorry I don’t think parents are arrogant for wanting options. I think it’s just another option ( with a cooler name) outside of ECNL. Feel free to correct any grammatical errors I made. I am sure I have a few.

I was (1) being funny and (2) making fun of you because almost half of your 30 posts are pumping up MLS Next as the next latest and greatest league of all time. When you are drinking the kool aid that much, you have an agenda.
I would love for you to point out where I was disparaging a player. Making fun of you, yes. Making fun of a league, yes. Making fun of a league that puts the name of a pro league in its title as a marketing ploy, yes. Making fun of a player, no.
I support all players playing at the highest and best league that is available to them. I am a firm believer that players should do what is best for them and don’t worry about what other people think or do.
I also have a problem with a league restricting a player from participating in any other sports. As you point out, 99% of players in the league will not go pro so why take opportunities away from a child to do other things for fun. Just have fun, right? Surely you recognize the hypocrisy of your name and how the mls next league is set up.

My problem with every alphabet league is the lack of clear hierarchy. Over several years, due to greed, the US Soccer federation has been weakened and the state association (in GA anyway) has been weakened and in turn, the clubs all have to scramble to stake their claim in a hierarchy that is blurry at best. It’s a “get what you can get” situation, rather than an organized framework and that’s a shame. In a Free Market economy, like the US, there is no way to control the number of leagues and formats that develop. Capitalism at work through spontaneous and decentralized order, as individual clubs make economic decisions that are best for them. I see nothing wrong with this and IMO it’s good for youth soccer as a whole. KSA has good players, great for them. Hopefully, they will also have the integrity to field teams according to the rules but that is another topic. “ My problem with every alphabet league is the lack of clear hierarchy. ” I’m using @rifles quote but it echoes my sentiments- My issue/s with the leagues are not their number but their lack of hierarchy or structure. There are many clubs/leagues in Germany but there is a clear path to the top. Same in England I am told. So, it’s not an issue having a 100 leagues but a lack of a defined pyramid caused by a weak or nonexistent governing body.

Yes, but the problem is that the economic decisions that are best for clubs are not necessarily best for youth soccer as a whole. And don’t fool yourself - the Capitalism you write of does not exist in the real world. There is always some degree of regulation, even in black markets.

IMO, I’m more in favor of individual player identification rather than a hierarchical youth structure of clubs that is run by a “governing body”. The US Soccer Federation tried this with the Development Academy and it failed. The system did not produce results. After 10 years!; the US men failed to qualify ifor the 2012 and 2016 Olympics (men’s under 23) and in 2018 failed to qualify for the World Cup in a weak division. It was a large expense and conflict of interest for the USSF, that was being financially drained by lawsuits, for doing things like artificially restricting competition in other areas. IMO, I personally always thought DA was too geographically restrictive for a county this size and was not innovative enough to develop creative players.

No disagreement that DA was (mostly) a failure; however, we (US) just decided to abandon the system instead of making it more inclusive and less restrictive. It feels like a free for all at the moment-I’m not sure that's helping anyone. Well, maybe big club owners. But I suppose that’s what “we” collectively want since we keep paying for it.

What the DA needed was more GA United like collaborations and alliances - multiple clubs joining together to share resources. The key is shared resources. (We don't need to get into why Ga United ultimately wasn't the perfect alliance...but it had a lot to do with resources) States could have created an ODP like team to compete in DA. Either has a supplemental program or as a true fully fledged member. A requirement should also have been that it's mandatory for member clubs to subsidize part of the costs for players. for our records: the old description of Ga United To be honest -- I had no idea AFC was ever included...... GEORGIA UNITED SOCCER ALLIANCE Thursday 26 May 2011 – Atlanta, GA Georgia United Soccer Alliance (GUSA) is very excited to announce that our organization has been given the opportunity to compete in the United States Soccer Development Academy (DA) league. GUSA is an alliance of four metro Atlanta clubs who have joined together to share resources that will allow them to provide a high level training environment and excellent competition at the GUSA organization’s expense for the best players in the state of Georgia. North Atlanta Soccer Association (NASA), Norcross Soccer Academy (NSA), United Futbol Academy (United FA) and AFC Lightning make up GUSA. “The concept behind GUSA is to bring the best players from clubs to play together and represent Atlanta in the DA. There is only one other DA club in Atlanta and we felt that there were enough quality players in the city for another franchise and started kicking around the idea of an alliance two years ago. We felt that with the right structure, we could provide a great training environment and put really competitive teams on the field,” said Dave Smith Director of NASA. “I am very excited to be offered the opportunity for players from all the clubs to play in the league and feel that it will improve the game and everyone involved. The great thing about GUSA is that we have set it up to be fully funded so that the best players will be able to play at the highest level regardless of financial ability,” commented Tony Annan, NSA Executive Director. Try outs for GUSA teams will be held in late June after the Development Academy (DA) Season has wrapped up and players from any organization are invited to attend. More information on GUSA can be found at www.GAUnitedsoccer.com.

Mightydawg: I have zero agenda. Zero affiliation with MLS - Next. The league could be called the ABC league and I would have the same perspective. Many on this forum seem to belittle leagues outside ECNL, I see it just about every day on the forum. Which is why I took this topic to be vocal on. Competition is good. Not everyone can or wants to play ECNL. I haven’t counted but we may now have an equal number of teams in MLS - Next in the Georgia Region as you do ECNL. ( I am talking the Georgia /TN AL region), So MLS -Next is not going away but expanding. On the disparaging of kids comment you made, I can’t recall me specifically calling you out ( maybe I did ) but the “ splinter” comment may fit ... no ? You can have the last word on this. I have beaten the “ dead horse” on this topic. We just need to agree to disagree.

Seems to me he is saying "we are all here to have fun and let the kids play wherever suits them" I have felt the same way about girls DA was disparaged and how GA is disparaged. I know the additional leagues cause confusion for some but sometimes you just go play for the team that suits you best regardless of league. As long as the league itself gets exposure to college coaches who cares what league it is?

It's odd that this isn't on MLS next website and no clarification on age groups, etc. The 09 (U-12) All in boys also will be in MLS next. They won the U-13 GA soccer state cup playing up an age group. The 07 KSA Boys just beat Sudamerica for the GA State Cup. Go on GA Soccer, KSA and Sudamerica Instagram's pages to see the drama and trolling. The Sudamerica coach said the below words publicly. "Incredible performance despite playing vs 12 men today. A class act from our boys who did not play boom ball or dirty. 4 players out injured today due to the uncontrolled brutality from the opponent. In the end, we all know who the better soccer players are. Champions on my book!" Honest question, not being a smart alleck, but how many times has KSA been caught using over aged players? Seems like I’ve heard about it happening more than once. Secondly, I find that rich coming from a Sudamerica Coach being as how I’m currently sending my kid to Physical Therapy for an injury he will eventually need surgery on due to a Sudamerica player being told to take him out (caught on camera) and the coach high diving the player as he came off after his red card. No use for that organization at all.

That’s a serious allegation. If true and you can prove it, is there recourse? should there be if not ? I agree we can’t have kids intentionally hurting others. am I just naive and this sort of thing happens especially at the older age groups?

If it is caught on camera and the kid took your kid out resulting in injury, that is very clear cut.

I don't know how many times KSA has been caught but there was an issue earlier this year with their 06 team being disqualified for the state cup final due to something. At least this is what was discussed previously on the forum.
The Sudamerica coach of the 07 team/director of coaching (RO) who made that comment was also the same one who tripped an opposing team player in a futsal indoor game at LakePoint a few months ago.
It seems like that 07 Sudamerica team has different kids each time they have a game based of their IG. One player left to play for Rush before the Spring season.
I know their top goal scorer quit towards the end of the Spring regular season and it looks like one of their other good players may have well? They also bring in a player who plays for Concorde North Elite for some games. They can do that since one is US Club and other is US Youth soccer.

He’s been out for going on 13 weeks or so. He seems to be close to getting released (Find out June 14th) It was a struggle at first for him, he was in a lot of pain, but has slowly worked his way back and we’re hoping he at least temporarily dodges a bullet (though it could catch up later). For now at least the PT seems to have helped keep him off the table. I forgot to add that the PT has NOT been fun. I felt bad for him because I knew he was in pain

It has been painful and difficult but it seems to have helped for now. Even so he’s not finished growing so the Doc wasn’t going to operate on him at this point anyway—at least unless PT had failed—but won’t rule it out for the future. I felt bad for him because I knew he was in pain but he powered though so I apologize if any of my previous responses were snarky

Wow! It seems to amazes me the hate that is in this forum towards other youth clubs and leagues not in the exclusive big clubs leagues. All this would do is motivate the smaller clubs to get better and help push players to pro and college. God bless all the haters and thanks to the one person on here who encouraged diversity of leagues and clubs There are some good folks on here. Let’s encourage all kids to success.

Hating or just being informative ?
What amazes me is KSAs' lack of club sponsorships to financially support their deep pool of club/team sponsored players vice relying heavily on the minority of paying parents to shoulder the load of being the actual sponsors that ensures all rostered/non rostered (18 ++) players experience success/shortcomings of what the pitch offers.
Bringing awareness and insight to a club’s shortcomings and checkered past with player, team, and club level Administrative/Operational/Financial accuracy, local county park field usage standings, or lower-level team expectations for games… Question: Is it still a requirement to at least supply game balls, field flags and team game roster(s) when hosting home games?
I agree, encouragement for all kids success on and off the pitch does start and end with adults leading the way and being accountable for their actions/inactions as leaders regardless of club size. Having known distractions like the Bruno factor with players and parents, misaligned Birth Certificates, and moments of club operational disfunctions does make the “haters” call out KSA more often.
Correct but probably misworded like an over the top Bruno rant would be… encouraging, mentoring, and guiding players on and off the pitch beyond club level, High School for life success through higher education (college) and/or to any pro level is always the end goal… Any and ALL Sports have an expiration date, but higher education does not… I do like the term…Student Athlete which has a higher degree of success than simply playing lower division league overseas as a short term career with limations in the job market afterwards.
KSA is successful as a small club but with self-induced issues and limitations off the pitch which larger clubs may/may not be able to manage to a minimal through resources, clearly defined leadership board(s), deeper coaching stable, sponsorships and field usage approval.
