TH 05 team moves on to quarterfinals Wednesday defeating LA Surf 2-0 today. TH 02/03 lost the national final game to FC Bay Area (I believe) I believe TH 08 lost the national semifinal game today also. All true. So 08 plays third place game today. 02/03 ends the year in second place. 04 gold plays their quarterfinal game today and 05 gold plays theirs tomorrow. 06 gold and navy failed to advance to the quarters both ending up 2nd in their groups. 07 gold did not advance to semifinals. 08 navy did not advance to the semifinals but DID qualify for the playoffs. 07 navy did not qualify for playoffs (07 and 08 had only 16 team playoffs so had to be in top two in conference to qualify). There was no showcase division for U13 or 14. 04 Navy ended up 5th of 6 (0-1-2) in their bracket in showcase division 2 of 2 (there were multiple brackets). 05 Navy ended 3rd of 6 in showcase 1 of 5 going 1-1-1. There were a couple hundred coaches there and multiple youth national team scouts. 05 Gold had 70 coaches watching them on the first day and had over 100 watch them over the weekend (according to my source). Good luck to 08, 04 and 05 Gold who still have games to play. Congrats to 02/03 Gold! Tophat 04 Gold advanced to the final 4. 05 Gold will play today with an opportunity to advance.

There are people who do not want to play GA, but IMO they are being short sighted. It should not be about the league. Tophat players will be recruited to D1 Power 5 teams. Go for coach not league. There were hundreds of coaches there and the level of play was very good. The 07 team that left for CF the previous year had 3 come back to TH. 05 had 2 come back before season ended. The grass is not always greener. Too many people leaving their teams to go to ECNL...they are doing it due to FOMO. That is not a good reason to do things. GA may not be as strong top to bottom as ECNL but there are many youth national team level kids in GA.

A 5th also tried but was offered Navy so decided to go to another club.

Those scouts have been present at every GA showcase so far. It was also cool to have Jill Ellis there on Sunday.

How does one explain Tophat's success in the GA playoffs this year? (This is meant as a legitimate question. I am not implying anything negative about Tophat or GA). Is Tophat as a club better than it has ever been or is the competition not as good?
Based on reports on here, 1 finalist, 2 semifinalist, 1 quarterfinalist at the GA playoffs this year (could be more based on results that have occurred since posted)
From Tophat's website, here are its historical finishes.
2017-2018: 2 ECNL National Semifinalists in 2018 ( NTH Tophat 98/99 ECNL and NTH Tophat 01 ECNL) 2 ECNL National Quarterfinalists in 2018 (NTH Tophat 00 ECNL and NTH Tophat 02 ECNL)
2016-2017: sending 4 teams to ECNL Nationals
2015-2016: sent 5 teams to ECNL Nationals
2014-2015: sent 4 teams to USYSA Nationals
2013-2014: 2 teams to USYSA Nationals
2012-2013: 1 team to USYSA Nationals
2011-2012: 1 Region Semifinalist

I do not think it is anything besides that. The 02/03 and 08 teams are very strong and did not lose many (?any) players. 02/03 players are going to Cal (3), USC, FSU, Duke, Georgia, Seattle, Columbia, etc. They are studs. 04 is going to semifinals and we will see how they do there. IMO they are a very good team but some of the success can be attributed to luck. They actually had one of their group stage games won as a forfeit (from what I heard). They actually lost the game but the opponent played a player who had gotten a red card the day before. 05 is a very strong team as well but has some injury issues with players not playing at all and some playing at less than 100%. They made it to quarters. I do not think the success is due to weak competition. It was a showcase too so sometimes players (on many teams) were playing to show off their skills not necessarily to win games.

Are there any other Georgia teams remaining in the Girls' ECNL Champions League Playoffs other than UFA 04s? This is what I was able to come up with from the ECNL website on results and teams remaining. GSA 06s are the only ones I am not sure of since their last game score was not posted.
CF 08s 1-1 Out (Single elimination) GSA 07s 1-2-0 (Out- group play) CF 06s 1-1-1 (Out - group play) GSA 06s 1-1-? (? Third game not posted on site) GSA 05s 1-1-1 (Out - group play) CF 04s 2-0-1 in group. Advanced, Out Quarterfinals UFA 04s 2-0-1 in group. Advanced, IN - Semis CF 02/03s - Out first round (Single elimination)

I know I’m close to it but the 04 girls age group is very talented. In two separate leagues Georgia has a team in the final four. With another team coming very close. Congratulations to all the players especially the 04s who are representing Georgia well in the biggest stage. Good luck to both TH and UFA in the final four of their perspective leagues.

I was pretty sure everyone through U15 only got in 2 games before being sent home due to the storm. Only U16 and U17s were playing through it. So I don't how or where you got the records you posted, because you are showing that they the 06s, 07s, and 08s played 3 games?? Please correct me if this is wrong... but I don't think it is.

It looks like the weather was an issue on multiple days (regular Florida thunderstorms which basically happen daily in the summer) as I saw college coach tweets in rain jackets and with some unhappy faces. This year was definitely tough to schedule due to Covid, but as someone who lived in Florida for over 20 years summertime is not the time to have events that last all day. The weather is going to be a factor. California weather is better, but the fields out there are super crappy with the lack of rain and care by people who were not allowed to care for them due to Covid restrictions. Maybe North Carolina would be better? Or is there somewhere in the Northeast or Midwest that could host these large showcases?

Georgia is represented very well in this group. The best team on paper was 04 Plat and they are out after makinga deep run. UFA was a clear 2nd and headed to Final 4 which shows how strong the Conference is. Tophat has always been great in this age group and been the class of the GA Conference, and CFC Red Star team has blown thru the USYS leagues and Regionals and is also competing for a USYS National championship. Lots of talent in the State for sure. Good luck to the remaining teams still playing. I know I’m close to it but the 04 girls age group is very talented. SSA 06 NPL Girls in NPL Finals in Colorado right now. They won their first game today. Columbus Redstar 04 Girls won USYS Southern Regionals and qualified for Nationals in Florida later this month.
