My understanding is that 06 Gold lost one player to GSA but the rest are there. 06 Navy, which was an excellent team, lost a few girls to other clubs which is not surprising given their level of play. Their coach does a good job with developing teams so I would expect their team to be very strong again but it may take a few weeks. I am not aware of any of the other teams gains or loses as I only knew one girl on DPL. As always there has been a good deal of movement for many teams. It will be interesting to see how things go this season. I am not surprised that All in did well. They have some good new players from LSA. Does anyone know what happened to LSA 05? Do they even have a team anymore? They always have a small roster and have no second team to pull from. What about the All in 03 team honeybadger? Did that team break apart due to the fact that they had several seniors? Oracle the only LSA girls left from your days is Pao!a and Ari everyone else has finally left Well if Paola is there then 05 team must still exist. But we never overlapped with you...

Afc lightning = dirty ball from their players down to their loud parents complaining about every call. One of the few teams that I truly despise. Worst than Columbus?

One stayed at SSA. 15 moved to Concorde full time. 2 quit club soccer all together to pursue other opportunities. 1 tore ACL in the week leading up to tryout week. 2 are currently out with ACL's. And one is just coming back from ACL.

Here is my crack at predicting the Girls' Southeast ECNL winners: U14--Concorde Platinum U15--Jacksonville FC U16--Concorde Platinum U17--GSA U18--Concorde Platinum Don’t sleep on the U15 CF Plat team Saw that they played in the top U16 division in the CF tournament this weekend and went undefeated. Not sure about the competition, but regardless, that’s impressive, especially for a team that I think had a lot of changes from last year.

Their '07 team lost 2 of the 3 games they played. For some reason they had the GSA ECNL team in their bracket and were destroyed by them 7-0. Their loss was 1-2 against the Alabama FC ECRL team and their win was 3-0 against the Florida Elite ECRL team.

A few of the Columbus girls went to the Premier team…probably the aggressive ones. Typical big club picking the best from the satellite location.

Clearly they would have been a better fit up there than the SSA DPL team that got beaten up on pretty bad in all 3 of their games (against ECNL teams).

There were a few questionable bracket placements at CF tourney. I think some GA teams were playing in 2nd/3rd bracket. 1st bracket should be ECNL/GA (including ECNL age group play-ups and some brave 2nd tier teams), 2nd bracket ECRL/DPL/NL, 3rd bracket SCCL/GPL, etc.

It is a pre-season tournament to get ready for the season. If that is what the coach thinks they need to get ready for the season, who cares? It was a showcase format. It is not like they were trophy hunting.

Yeah - but the tournament/showcase didn't exist for the sole purpose of preparing GSA 07 for the upcoming season. All the teams paid the same entry fees...it was unfair to the SSA team to get forced into the top division where they had 3 lopsided losses. And did it help the 2nd division teams that GSA pounded? it's not the end of the world, but pretty weak move...

It is certainly not what I would have done because I don't think that playing the Sisters of the Poor helps you get ready for the season but why worry about a preseason tournament and bracket placement? There is enough to get stressed out about in life. Just play who is in front of you. If I am the Florida Elite and Alabama FC ECRL teams, I feel pretty good about myself. I play 3-0 and 2-0 against an ECNL team that finished 4th in the table last year and was the top 2007 ECNL team from Georgia.

Yeah it was more than that though. When they moved GSA down they moved the concord ECNL r team up which was the Columbus team. They realized that wasn’t going to work and switched them on the Friday before the tournament with the SSA DPL team which as pointed out above should not have been in the top bracket either. All in all mismanaged to accommodate a team that didn’t want to play at the appropriate level.

I've had this argument before on here.
If your players are supposed to be GA or ECNL, have them play equal competition ... period.
My daughter's team didn't play in this tournament but we came to support a former teammate. DPL team (2nd team at their club) vs ECRL team (4th at their club)... makes no sense.
Sad part is GSA has very strong ECNL teams ... play them against equal talent instead of shizatting on lower league teams.

The GSA coach specifically asked for the move because he didn't want to play the same teams they will be playing during their regular season. For some reason the tournament accommodated the request. This is his third year now coaching this team. It is also the third year in a row he has entered the team into this tournament. He should have known what teams would be entered as they are typically similar year to year. If he wanted different competition, he should have taken the team to a different tournament. Otherwise, he should have accepted the placement and played against the appropriate teams.

Even to the northern suburbs of Atlanta, on a weekday late afternoon, you're talking 2 hours, maybe, and then less time getting back to Columbus after traffic has settled out. I agree it's a long haul for soccer practice regardless, but let's not exaggerate it for effect!

One reason we aren’t doing the ODP thing anymore…2+ hour drive to practice. (3 may be a bit much unless there’s road construction/wreck).
