This region includes: Georgia, Florida, N Carolina, S Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. 6 teams have been named so far (2 slots remain): Jacksonville FC, West Florida Flames, SSA, Charlotte SA, NCFC, UFA. So that makes the 8 teams in the Southeast conference / South Atlantic (or whatever they will call it...) 1. Jacksonville FC (FL) 2. West Florida Flames (FL) 3. Charlotte SA (NC) 4. NCFC (NC) 5. SSA (GA) 6. UFA (GA) 7. AFC (GA) 8. Concorde Fire (GA)

One good thing for Concorde is they can pool their two boys teams into one for this.

My kid was told her team will be playing ECNL-R OR elite 64 next year. I thought this was supplemental?

My kid was told her team will be playing ECNL-R OR elite 64 next year. I thought this was supplemental? UFA's website says they can pool the teams and can use 30 players as long as they have USYS cards. It seems to me that it would be best utilized for the ECNL players who are not getting enough playing time combined with the ECRL and ECNL starters based on availability and need for exposure, recent playing performance, etc. However it often seems like clubs don't do what is best for player development.

Both ecnl and elite with the championships in June seems problematic.

At what point are people going to understand that all these leagues are only diluting the talent so no one knows where the teams rank and it's all done to allow "soccer people" to bilk the uninformed and gullible parent.

I'm not a soccer historian, but was ECNL the first closed soccer league? I know USYS was always win and advance, but my knowledge doesnt extend past 9 years ago.

The Developmental Academy started in 2007, ECNL in 2009.

I think US youth soccer established the National League around the same time 2007-2008 season. and this was an "earned" league, winning state cup, regionals etc.
I don't recall NPL origination --- NPL for my kids was a winter league from Like Nov - Jan, and we often pooled players together to play. It was really just to get extra games in and was never taken seriously.

From everything I've read, E64 will be whatever the club's want it to be. You could have a true "E64" team and they only play that schedule (14 games) or you can have it be supplemental to your club. If supplemental, there are "open rosters" so you can field whatever team you want week to week from various players within your club. For UFA Norcross - it sounds like their NPL team would also play in E64 (knowing they could also bring in players from their ECNL, SCCL, whatever teams when/if needed). Or perhaps they'll have their NPL team and now a new E64 team.

An age mandate will fix everything. Trust me….. Funny though - I was told the ecnl teams would be playing in the elite 64 It would not surprise me at all if ECNL teams played in Elite 64 because 1) those clubs don't want to lose games to local rivals or to some of the lesser known clubs and 2) most clubs do everything they can to benefit their top players often at the significant expense of their lower teams. However the open roster gives them flexibility. That is enough so that you can field mixed teams which would likely be necessary anyway with the oldest few age groups due to college visits and other commitments that come up (ACT/SAT and other things). Then you add injuries, illness etc. I could be wrong but my understanding is that the 30 players is per game/event so you can only field the usual 18 but can choose from whatever 30 you put on the list when it was due and those 30 can change from event to event.

Atlanta Fire joins NL 64. Will be interesting to see if they try to use most of their Ecnl girls in this league and Ecnl as they don’t have the depth of other clubs. Anyone else heard Atlanta Fire may be out of Ecnl within 2 years due to lack of competitiveness?

Don't take this the wrong way, but I thought elite 64 was truly trying to bring in the top clubs? AFU girls ranking for ecnl -- I didn't look at the rankings for the regional league, maybe they are in first place of every division. u13 - 6th u14 - 8th u15 - 10th u16 - 12th u17 -10th u19 - 9th

It's all about the $$$, and this new league is just that...another way to get more money out of parents that are willing to chase a dream for little Johnny / Susie.

Yea, clearly just garbage. I get this if some clubs are using satellite locations to fill these spots, but that doesn't seem to be what is happening.
What is the plan? are ecnl teams playing in N64, will it be a mix of ecnl/ecrl teams? I was told at our club ecnl teams would be playing in the N64, but we haven't been officially told anything. If they make it a mixed pool, not sure how you charge for it, unless you charge people per game played. or the just increase all ecnl/ecrl fees to subsidize it for everyone.
The boys ecnl is the perfect amount of travel -- a few trips to Greenville, a trip to Nashville, Bham and Knoxville -- then Charleston and Columbia. Nashville(murfessboro) was the only location where hotel prices were high, the rest were all very reasonable standard nicely priced hotels. granted we stayed where we wanted to stay which was normally cheaper than the team hotels.

From what I received from some at the clubs involved, Elite 64 will roster both ECNL and MLS Next (or GAL/DPL) players on those teams.

From what I have heard on the girls' side the E64 teams will not be the club's top teams outside of clubs that don't have ECNL/GA as platforms. These will we ECNL-R/DPL/NPL level teams. Rosters are open so maybe that allows some changing around but I would think that is unlikely if ECNL and GA are already playing a ton of games and a at least 2 showcases a season. Adding more travel and games doesn't make a lot of sense. Sat. locations make a lot more sense or putting a completely new team in the league to have the opportunity to add heads to the player pool within the club.

Well I would agree except the rumors that girls SE ECNL is going to be more teams but playing only one time so down to 15 games or so (not including showcases). Regardless I think that clubs SHOULD use ECNL players 12-18 and ECRL change it up and rotate.. especially clubs that carry 2 keepers on their top teams should make sure the keepers switch off on the E64 team.

This was explained to me very simply- it’s the new ODP. Each club is pooling players from the top 3 teams/leagues: ex SCCL-C, ECRL and ECNL. Each club may do it differently depending on the leagues it has, but it’s essentially a replacement for ODP.

How do you correlate a bunch of clubs entering separate teams (E64).. with ODP - a non club affiliated development and identification pool?

As I said back on page one… Fresh coat of paint and ready to start selling the dream to the next batch of young soccer parents. …I’m generally cynical about adding yet another “top” league or division that doesn’t organize by sporting merit (meaning results) but this one actually sounds alright if clubs use it to give opportunity to players who standout - even if they got placed on a lower level team at tryouts. If it becomes a club’s age group “all-star team”, I might even like the concept. If they just use it to give more games to the best eleven from their “top” team then I think it’s a missed opportunity. A showcase within a club would present almost like the clubs are interested in all the players.

A showcase within a club would present almost like the clubs are interested in all the players. If it is the club's age group all-star team wouldn't it be by default the club's top team which is either the ECNL or GA team at the club (if they have that platform)? I see this league as being one of two or a combination of both options: 1. A completely separate team that players here 2. Treated as a pool similar to academy. if you play a good team you bring better A level players. Not as strong bring an A/B roster. Weak team C roster. GA has already told all the clubs they cannot put their GA teams in the league unless that changed and then ECNL would need a lot more games and travel to fall off of their schedule than what is proposed in the SE to make it agreeable. Otherwise any benefit that was reaped for reduced travel and extra recovery is out the window.
