Maybe we can get a full list of all participants boys and girls from all clubs Is this what you're talking about? Complete list of ECNL Nationals participants from the girls side. Includes Regional League finals and some showcases at older ages that I'm not sure what they mean. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16ecvTIKPBlzpv_uUbbPH3HtTBSxpn66_ObFo6-ZGR5k/edit#gid=0

Which Nationals are you talking about? There’s like 8 National championships now, more soccer titles then boxing belts.

Yeah. What a scam. Congratulations you’ve placed high enough in your regular season you get to spend more money on another soccer trip during your summer vacation so we can increase our leagues profit ..and a good chance many games were blowouts indicating the league structure is arbitrary (aside from profitability). Broken system. Lots of good teams out there in spite of it all.

Great attitude by some posters above. Kid played in ECNL National Championship game. This was a great accomplishment for the team and for all the many years of hard work. Money was never considered. I guess ECNL doesnt warrant the recognition...

EPL Champs, English Championship Champs, MLS Champs, USLChamps, NCAA D1, D2, D3, NAIA, NJCAA, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Euros. I think you get my point. I don't care if you are ECNL Champs, GA Champs, USYS Champs, DPL Champs, ECRL Champs. Any team that wins a tournament with high caliber teams deserves to be celebrated. It is very hard.

I guess ECNL doesnt warrant the recognition... I think what some are a little dismissive/skeptical about is when you get below the ECNL/GAL/MLS Next level, how much of a "national championship"-type event or environment are we really talking about? Especially when you factor in the time & expense associated with events like these. For example, from what I can gather looking at the list of teams above, the ENCL- Regional division is hosting their "national championship finals" in conjunction with the ECNL Champions League playoffs (not finals) in Seattle this week. Some of those teams apparently just qualified for nationals a week or two ago, so you're talking about booking thousands of dollars worth of flights & hotels on super-short notice- not to mention having to take significant time off of work for the parents and time away from other summer activities for the players. That can really be tough to swallow for what's basically a second-tier "championship".

Agreed with the last post, I have never posted on this board but as a father whose son is nearing the end of his time playing club soccer I would encourage everyone to just enjoy the time you have. We have played at various levels including DA and ECNL and have realized that it is just as important to play with a team you enjoy and have a coach who teaches the players about more than just soccer. So I would encourage everyone to enjoy their time regardless of the level of play and root the local teams on because unfortunately the game will be over too soon for most of them.

Is there anyone out there who wants to post scores at any of these? please feel free!
I know that I saw Tophat 10G playing up to U13 DPL won first game 2-0. Saw UFA U18/19G had tough first round loss 5-4.
Anyone else?

I know they are posted. That was how I found the UFA U18/19 score. Some of the rest weren't posted by the last time I looked (time difference plus seems like some are slow) I am just too lazy to look up ECNL girls and boys, DPL, MLS Next, GA, Southern Regionals and whatever else is going on. Even social media hasn't been as helpful as I would like due to the number of teams out there. So I am asking for those who have kids participating and are on this site to help us out with scores like you did. (THANK YOU).

CF Platinum U19G tied 2-2 then won 4-2 in PKS. They're playing Beach FC next so should be interesting. I think they've got the best shot for the championship out of GA teams. Also does anyone know why ECNL finals in VA only go up to U17?

I understand what you are saying but respectfully disagree. I state this because so many Georgia teams win their divisions or come in high enough to go on to these tournaments. They generally lose to California or Texas teams in these tournaments which are also areas with a lot of teams. I don't think 8 or 9 clubs in a city of 5 million people in top or 2nd tier leagues is too much. AFC lightning deserves it because we need a southern representative and they have the ability given time to keep and develop some of their best. We need several clubs inside metro Atlanta so Tophat and Concorde belong (and with two teams being appropriate generally). GSA to help eastern. UFA for the north. SSA for the west. Interatlanta and Roswell are second tier leagues and I think they deserve it based on past levels of success locally especially at academy ages. The only argument is AFU which is in a tough spot being between GSA, UFA and close enough to Concorde. But they do put a lot of girls in strong soccer programs in college. So they clearly have some talent and the kids do need to have opportunities close to home. This monster of alphabet leagues built itself and it is not going away so kids need spots to play where they don't have to drive forever to get to training

“ In the USA this summer, each age group from 09 to 03, is going to have “8 Regional Champions” ? Each of these teams will spend an average of $1500 per player to participate in the regional event alone on top of the $3000 average spend to qualify. Each event will have at least 1 wild card team who never qualified who will show up with players who never played in the qualifying rounds. There will be teams who win 3 games at this regional event that do not progress to the national event? US Soccer: when are you going to sort this nonsense out? Parents need to be educated to understand that they are being exploited by paying for everything soccer. #lessismore” Derek Broadley -Technical Director at Charleston Soccer Club (Posted on LinkedIn)

On the girls side, other than Concorde bringing home the Natty in U18/19 and a few exceptions here and there, things are not going so well for the SE teams at ECNL Nationals:
U17--no SE teams advanced out of group stage U16--Concorde Platinum advanced to knockout stage but lost in round of 16. U15--no SE teams advanced out of group stage U14--Concorde Platinum advanced out of group. Knockout game is tomorrow U13--2 NC teams advanced out of group stage.

True but I believe some of the U17 teams were somewhat unlucky as they were 2-1 but did not advance due to goal differential. I was surprised that both the UFA U13 teams (ECNL and ECRL) were not able to do better given their 20-1-1 SE region records. That is concerning. I do find the timing on these championships frustrating as many teams are not the same ones that played all season. This is true for GA, ECNL and USYS as well.

Have tryouts start July 1 instead of May 1. Push the season to end after school ends, or when the rest of the country finishes the school year. Then the teams that earned those spots actually play in these championships vs new players looking to make a name. That and who wouldn’t rather play games in December then August.

Then the teams that earned those spots actually play in these championships vs new players looking to make a name. That and who wouldn’t rather play games in December then August. Disagree with a lot of this. I for one prefer games where it's "too hot" outside to those where it's "too cold". Though again, I'm a parent watching from the sideline and not playing! But those December-February games where you have an 8 or 9 AM kickoff and it's 28 degrees really suck, for both players and spectators. And if you're playing on grass that time of year, the surface is going to be awful probably 75% of the time. As far as dragging the spring season out further past the end of school, I think that's a bad idea. People want to have time off to do things other than soccer in the summer- at least most sane people do! I know this board is populated with people who put soccer above just about everything else in theirs & their kids' lives, but the vast majority of the soccer-playing community is involved for fun & the enjoyment of the game, not because they're trying to turn their kid into the next Messi or Alex Morgan, or even get them a scholarship. When summer break starts- and yes, in the South, it starts earlier than it does in much of the rest of the country, so either deal with it or move- most people want to have flexibility and freedom to travel, do camps and other activities, etc., not be tied down to soccer for half of the summer. We already get enough of that during the school year, when even taking a simple weekend trip (sometimes even a day trip) has to be cleared around the almighty soccer calendar. Players & parents need a break, and aligning it with the school calendar as much as you can makes the most sense, at least to me.
