As long as the player handles it right (i.e., not accepting a spot and then leaving the team in a bind), no one should ever be upset with players moving clubs. We are the customer and should choose the situation that is best for our kid. The 07 girls who departed Tophat for Concorde in mid July after committing to Tophat DID NOT handle it right. Hope they (and their parents) enjoy being on a roster with 8 subs...

Does Tophat not charge for club fees in June or July? Or do the parents just don't care about the money?

I hate to ask if these were "top" team girls, (we as parents get caught up on top vs second too much) but I am very curious now. Did several top team players leave TH for Concorde in mid July? If so there has to be more to the story...no?

My family is new to NASA/TH. What happened to the NASA/TH 08 Girls team? Why did they lose so many players ? As I was told, ask anyone that has left from the 08 or 07 gold the last few years, they will likely all give you the same answer- the coach. Looked like he was getting 08 again and players made their moves. I saw the team play several times and they were a fun team to watch, they played well together and it is really a shame because they had so much talent on one team and they knew how to use it together as a team- which is rare. From what I have heard a coaching intervention earlier could have saved this super team and if so, that is really too bad. I am glad to hear the 4 girls that left went to 3 different clubs to spread some talent to the local ECNL teams.

Does Tophat not charge for club fees in June or July? Or do the parents just don't care about the money? Are you asking if they have you pay for the upcoming year in June or July when you "commit?" The answer is "yes," but there are always different rules for the special ones. So they often hold out on paying fees knowing that the club is not going to kick them to the curb and offer someone else. As an aside if I can move my child out of an environment that is not healthy or helpful into one that is better I would forfeit my money. Wish I had done it for one child who had an abusive coach. The money I would forfeit is worth it for my child's mental health and well being.

Bigger issue that was brought up is the now 20++++ roster on a particular team. I think CF is planning to test out a college style travel and home roster setup j/k but I am definitely predicting some late late club movement this season. Gonna be a lot of unhappy players and parents.

According to the ECNL website, Concorde has 19 players on platinum. That means assuming no injuries, 1 player per game will have to sit out. Are you saying there are more than the 19 players listed on the roster?

But they didn't know 1.5 months ago that Tophat wasn't healthy or helpful?

Are you saying there are more than the 19 players listed on the roster? I believe there are 22 players. 3 are goalies, couple ACL issues. One of the goalies is an 08, and there are unofficially two other 08s that play up. I think two of the players don’t even live in Georgia. So they may be fine if they play just one goalie at 16-18 players. Still sounds like a mess.

I don't know their individual situations, but I will say that twice I have seen coaches behave differently from year to year. Markedly different. Jekyll and Hyde differently. This was at two different clubs. You never know what is going on with anyone else. My guess is that they were part of the first assumption. They held back paying their fees and waited to make their choice based on something else so did not forfeit fees.

They can all club pass to the RL teams, not sure if a Platinum to Premier club pass works so with 4 teams I’m sure they’ll find them spots to play.

I doubt someone who left a top team to go to platinum is going to be happy going to premier and even more less so ecnrl

Once a kid plays for platinum, they cannot play for premier. Like 2 separate clubs under ECNL rules.

Expected more posts on this topic following our recent games this weekend. Some strange results in some age groups, but that is preseason for you. Next week maybe a number of teams will have some kinks worked out.

No, one knows what it means for their teams other than Platinum.

Once you pay for any ECNL club you can’t play for another ECNL club unless you’re released and no club in their right mind is going to do that they’d rather see you sit and do nothing. Pride plays a big role with these clubs.

Because none of the games were even close but they all beat each other except Concord. AFU beat Fl Elite 4-0 Fl Elite beat GSA 5-2 GSA beat AFU 4-0 The only team who didn’t get beat and had a clean sheet was Concord Platinum.

Next week maybe a number of teams will have some kinks worked out. Between 07, 06 and 04/05 I watched a handful of matches this weekend and I wasn’t surprised by many of the results. Locally, I expect there to be more parity and competitive matches this season atleast across those age groups. The coaches looked to be trying out new formations and positions within games, which I wouldn’t expect to see once the season starts. A good preseason temp check all around.

This was the strangest age group to me. 1-0 or 1-2 combos of beating each other is pretty normal but those scores are odd to me. Not sure if heat/injuries a factor but I thought the results were weird. I also thought 04/05G showcase 1 weird. AFC GA draws AFU and GSA but gets pounded by platinum. That would not be odd given platinum being a stud of a team with many play ups from last year's NC team now playing their own age group except then there were low scoring games against GSA and AFU. Anyway pre-season is for toying around a bit especially with new players and/or the combined U19 teams, so that is why I said it is just preseason...

Can someone tell me who the coach is of the Concorde Fire 06 central white SCCL Club team? I'm not CF affiliated, but CF has two 2006 SCCL Champions (formerly SCCL Club) teams listed. One is coached by Rupert England and the other by Kevin Issahaku.
