We are a travel team from Alabama, every time we go to Georgia for a game, referee always plays a "fun" role. Even if there is shortage of referee in American sports nowadays, a referee who is neither professionally nor mentally capable of judging at DPL or similar national level of soccer game should probably leave the ref team or just participate in some low-level games, if such referees continue to exist on the field, it will make more children disappointed with soccer.
This was what we suffered from last weekend, and now I know why TopHat is always called the TOP club in Atlanta, they play 14 vs 11 soccer:

Props for the most creative whining about refs post I have ever seen!
As a ref, I think 2 or 3 of those were clearly bad calls. Most of them I'd need to understand the context of the game and how he was calling other things... many were really shoulder-to-shoulder plays where the white player went down pretty easily. As someone who has seen/reffed a lot of ECNL/GA soccer, those were pretty standard non-calls.
Congrats on winning the game though.

NASA being nasa there. Money goes a long way.
Couple were 50/50, definitely a lot missed too. The Yellow was odd though.
This isn’t just Ga Refs though, been homecooked like that nearly every time at BUSA.

Just watched your video. I'm a fairly high level referee with decades of experience. Of the 20 or so examples highlighted, I disagreed with the referee's decision on only 2 or 3. Advantage was applied appropriately in most instances. One or two non-calls came down to a weak AR who had a better angle but didn't make the call. Much of the contact highlighted is completely normal and within the realm of the level of play. Every time a player falls down is not a foul.
Welcome to high level soccer.

DPL isn't a "National Level" league. In fact for the club you are complaining about its their 3rd team so these are "lower level teams" as you say which is why you get less qualified refs. You could make a video at every game at every level like this if you wanted. Please get certified and help the game instead of making videos degrading refs who are already understaffed. Soccer is a contact sport and Tophat isn't really known for their "physical style", welcome to Atlanta it's competitive and the higher the level the more physical the game.

some missed calls, but nothing horrible, most were all soft fouls and not dirty at all, just some light pushing.

LOL I didn't even post in this one. It was just my reactions to the comments i guess (like, dislike, LOL....) I see maybe a few soft fouls that weren't called but most of the ones the OP highlights I'm fine with being no-calls or advantage calls or they weren't even fouls to begin with. As another referee stated, I would have to see the whole game footage to make an absolute assessment to this game and the referee, but I don't really see much here enough for you to take hours to make a youtube video about it. Some referees let more physical play go than others. As long as there aren't persistent fouls, chippiness etc... I tend to let the kids play as well. A lot of situations both kids are making contact with each other and some of it could be considered soft fouls, but who do I call the foul on when both players are doing it? I find that soft teams that don't play physical soccer are the ones whose parents/coaches complain the most. Soccer is indeed a contact sport. Shoulder to shoulder contact, and some mild hands on the back aren't fouls necessarily, and if a team is going down easy on every little bit of contact they aren't going to get the majority of those calls from me.

Frist off... As a parent of one daughter who has aged out of youth soccer I wish I had more video of her for the memories. So I think its cool you have the time and bandwidth to record. Your camera is awesome. Super crisp imaging... I like the attention you're giving DPL... All levels of soccer desire attention... The Hoover players displayed some nice footskills. I'm sure there are examples of nice skills on the TH side that are on the cutting room floor.
With that being said, the hardest part of soccer is it is subjective. One persons illegal push is another persons legal push. One person says direct soccer is bad, one person says direct is good. Its very subjective... Unfortunately, referees are often bullied by the parents... I am a parent of daughters who play and I have heard some pretty nasty things said to referees from u9 to u19. So its hard to fault referees when they are underpaid and often are just there because they love soccer and want to stay connected to the game.
Keep recording your daughters' games. I hope one day Hoover gets in Girls Academy. It would be interesting to see your analysis of physicality and speed of play vs TH top team. Good luck!

Threads like this always give me a good laugh. The utter seriousness of the parent who goes through the effort to recount every little slight, and in this case, the time and energy put into creating a whole highlight video.
One of these days I’m going to have to go around recording and filming parents and their ridiculous comments. I promise you, the video would be hilarious.
Seriously, I would do that if I had time, but considering I spent 17 hours on pitches in the metro Atlanta area this weekend reffing games and mentoring young referees, I will leave that to our friend from Alabama.

I think all of us at some point can say we felt our kids team were playing 14 on 11, but outside of VAR at every game I don't think the perceived feeling of 'bad calls' will ever go away no matter how good the refs are. All this video and thread is missing is girls playing down from their club's first team to be complete

Enjoyed the video. In all seriousness though, if you’re concerned about this level of “physicality”, I’d suggest looking into another sport now. It gets FAR more physical as they get older. Sit in on a u16 or older game sometime and see for yourself.

Is the voiceover work computer generated? I hear a lot of narration on videos that sounds similar.
Funny edits by the way.

One thing to be mindful of is that you're getting 3rd or 4th tier referees as the higher level referees are going to be assigned DA and ECNL games...maybe even ECRL and SCCL games too. Great video, though.

This really is much ado about nothing. Ask most opposing coaches in Atlanta to describe Tophat teams I would be willing to bet "physicality" would be way down the list.

Let's just say that some of the "talent" has attended various clubs, and the producers are attempting to choose a story angle (yes it is supposed to be a reality show). All I know is that drama, gossip, and seggs (yes, I said seggs) sell. And certainly, some of these parents do all of the aforementioned things and more. Goodnite...

So I finally sat through and looked closely at this video and it’s even dumber and more troubling than I initially thought.
This guy’s shtick consists mainly of wanting trifling fouls called; expecting simple fouls that were actually called to be punished more severely; and triggered by situations that were well within the bounds of what girls at this level are expected to be able to handle. In sum, this guy seems oblivious to both the laws of the game and the laws of physics.
What’s troubling to me is that the criticisms he makes are also common refrains I hear week in week out while on the pitch - especially at this age of play where parents have not yet realized that competitive soccer involves physical contact. Most parents are content to leave the comments at the field, but this guy drove two hours home and made this video, then came here, created a profile and shared it.
The video personally attacks a referee. He mocks him and he questions his mental capacity. This referee is a good man who spends several hours each weekend refereeing so that kids can play competitive soccer.
The guy also attacks the 12 year old girls who play for NTH. Not a good look for a parent with 9,000+ YouTube followers to be calling the NTH players abusers and their style of play dirty and brutal.
I really wonder if this guy realizes how poorly this makes Hoover Vestavia Soccer look?

You need to watch a higher level of soccer. Go watch some ECNL/MLS Next games(I didn’t say GA because there are only 2 decent teams in the conference and not many more in the league) if you want to see how the game is played and how physical it can be. I didn’t see many missed calls and if anything some that were called fouls shouldn’t have been.
