AU not dominant at U12. Lots of young ones on the roster. NASA the strongest followed by AU & CF. SSA not in the picture.

I think the current AU U12s will be on top as U13s - they have done more mixing of players while NASA & CF have played straight 1st team/2nd team lineups.

NASA has mixed. Seems correct about CF.

To me playing 1st and 2nd teams all year 100% defeats the purpose of u12 DA. US soccer shouldn’t allow it. Guess it doesn’t matter now.

Heard the AU U14s played the 2003/2004 Combo Team(Smyrna, Cherokee, Inter) aka Georgia Alliance FC today. GAFC lost 4 zip, honestly lost track of what the final score was. They had zero shots on goal...FG
Update on Patterson Cup AU won their first game against RSL 4-1 SKC 5 vs RSL 4 Chicago Fire 6 vs Colorado Rapids 4 AU plays SKC at 6pm

From what I've heard CF is the only U12 DA that has a 1st and 2nd teams each and every game. NASA for the most part say 90% has 1st and 2nd teams and rarely mixes it up. AU in the fall season had 1st and 2nd team. UFA, SSA, LSA, AFC constantly mixes up players every game.
What is everyones thought on having set teams compared to mixing players?

It's "development". You should mix rosters and even mix some positions. You never know what may click and players shoud be learning more and seeing more of the field.

In the first year of U12 DA, club coaches would get together prior to the games and decide if they are playing top vs top or a mixture. It was done on a gentleman's agreement. But as time went on some would only focus on the win. I would question a club that is solely focused on winning as opposed to giving the boys a chance to change things up. Truth be told, U12 studs sometimes struggle when they move to a field twice the size and those that were average players at U12 blossom. So you'd want to really focus on the "development" of your kid at U12...FG

I don't understand why more clubs don't do this to get the kids ready for the bigger field and the addition of two more players. It should be an opportunity to learn the new formation and the new spacing and pathways to be effective. When my kids where younger, the club would even go so far as to have them play in tournaments for 11v11. Another thing I would recommend is to have them play something like Super Y, as it gives them on field experience of how to play 11v11 on a larger field and they come in for the fall being ahead of the pack ...FG
Patterson Cup Update: The AU U12s lost to Toronto FC 3-2, so they crash out in the Semi Finals...

The Atlanta City FC 2004(U15s) played the AU 2005/2006 (U13/U14s) today at the Silverbacks Park by spaghetti junction. Very good game, went back and forth. Final score was a 1-0 win for Atlanta City on an error by the AU goalie. Atlanta City is a very well coached team, great movement of the ball, play as one team and loads of supporters in the stands. Had never heard of them till I was told about this game, but their future is bright...FG Atlanta City FC - bit.ly/2Ijt43w

Never even heard of Atlanta city! One of the new Ga Soccer clubs. I expect you'll see lots more little clubs springing up now that Big 5 are moving out of Ga Soccer. Filling in the vacuum.

Better for everyone when more clubs are involved. I guess when I played it was before many of the big mergers and there were more small clubs that played each other. ASA, Cobb Chiefs, Kennesaw FC, Stars, West GA United, Buckhead FC, West Metro, Dacula, Forsyth Fusion, etc. etc. It'd be cool if it went back that way, at least somewhat.

Did I hear correctly that NASA's u16 ECNL team beat the Atlanta United u16 team this weekend in a scrimmage? They did but played only 30 mins before rain delay then started the 2nd half which lasted 10 min. So really only a qtr of soccer played.
