They must be doing this so they can get more blood in the younger age group. Which they have a big group to select from now. Looks like Symrna stops at the U16 girls (2004) age group according to the website. I would imagine this would help the boys side.

Does this mean that the GA Alliance FC dream is now dead?

Great move for NASA. Wonder how the partner clubs (Inter and Cherokee) feel about Smyrna being taken over by NASA.

Does this mean that the GA Alliance FC dream is now dead? My guess would be, yes - that has now died.

What a F'ing joke. Smyrna's board has fired 4-5 directors and now hands over its players and facilities to a club that has shown it zero respect

Soon, no one will have to drink the Kool-Aid, there won't be anyone else's water to drink.

This was done behind the back of the actual staff that runs the club, not the parents that sit on the board.

Does this mean that the GA Alliance FC dream is now dead? My guess would be, yes - that has now died. Or maybe they'll keep going, they just announced: "The Georgia Alliance FC 2003/2004 team will be participating in the Atlanta United FC college showcase this upcoming weekend (May 18/19). This Wednesday (May 15) the team will be training at Life University in Marietta. Players who have been selected by Inter Atlanta FC and Georgia Impact, to represent Georgia Alliance, have been notified by their club coaches and team managers."

Well I guess with Conway and Syfert being fired from Smyrna and now this unholy merger, it is really going to be some facts behind the rumors that Busch at Inter won’t make it to tryouts....

I personally feel horrible about Inter and Cherokee. I understand their position but though the stance was a little unrealistic and them not really having a sense of where they were positioned in the GA Soccer market. As for NASA, this is a great move especially in strengthening the younger boys Academy groups.

WOW! Just a moment ago they advertised Smyrna doubling the produced players for Atlanta United.
UFA...what is your next alliance/merger with NASA growing every year and Concorde/SSA combining.

Inter will just have to bite the bullet and merge with one of the big dogs. Holding out just means delaying the inevitable. I wonder if Impact has the fortitude to go it alone... If so, it will be to their detriment. This merging to bigger and bigger clubs was foretold years ago... now its here. Bye-bye Georgia Soccer.

Tophat boys teams just become a lot stronger. Would think this is one of if not the main reason why Tophat/NASA wanted to absorb them. Their ECNL teams have struggled in just about every age group.

Nope. Not the main reason. The main reasons are money and power. I dont know which comes first though (sort of the "chicken or the egg" thing).
