It’s a pure buyout. Go to Smyrna SC’s website and their language is more direct. They “merged” with NTH. So, SSC board goes away and Dave Smith and the NTH calls the shots now? That's correct. Dave of House NTH now owns Smyrna. He put Conway to the sword. Now he will consolidate his hold and begin preparing a proper invasion of the rest of Cobb areas that he does not already own.

Will he burn them to the ground or raid them like he did the North?

Would be interesting with AFU given All in FC's Mark MacKain's breakup with AFU and the suit back in the day. Doesn't ambush have some rule that x% of each roster needs to be Alpharetta players? Ambush is basically irrelevant in the modern footprint of youth soccer. KSA is the other interesting one, that we keep hearing rumors about. Steamers FC Liberty FC All In FC Collins Hill SC All these could be in play for AFU. Steamers aren’t going anywhere with their current board since they all fought to get CC and away from gsa. Liberty/Bluesprings aren’t going anywhere. The Byrds can’t sell their cash cow/tax write off until their grandson graduates HS, he’s currently a 13U. All-In would be interesting but they have Snellville, a small branch in Cobb, a location in Tennessee and now are affiliated with that new club in Forsyth so why would they fold back in when they are expanding? and Collins Hill is a dot and not even worth the paper work of a merger. They have what 5 teams total and maybe 100-150 kids from 4s to 19s.

Well from what I’ve heard the last year or so they’ve made runs for Chiefs, Impact, and Rysa but nothing has come of it. I could see AFU and Inter especially if Mirza is able to get rid of Busch.

Its something I overheard this weekend, which didn't make sense (to me) on the surface and its nothing to do with any of the mentioned clubs. I have no idea if its actually happening, but it will NOT reshape GA Soccer like the NTH/Smyrna acquisition. What exactly was overheard? A merger/alliance with another club?

Recent posts have made me doubt the AFU thing is going to come to pass.

I always think of Gummer and just equate him with Smyrna.

Shame. Best coaches both my kids have ever had were with Smyrna. Now neither around for next year. Is that for sure? Given that NTH hasn't announced coach assignments yet, perhaps some of the Smyrna coaches join NTH?

Do you know they are going to put some NTH coaches there? At townhall meeting, Dave Smith said he hopes to retain the coaches who were still with SSC at the time of merger (minus Joey 😞 and Jon). He did say a NTH person would over see the location...

Not many staying as they’d be demoted under NASA coaches.

Hearing that fired SSC coach and director are starting a Georgia Alliance FC location in or near Smyrna.

I think this helps NTH DA boys try to get older DA years. Right now DA stops for them at U14 and then they lose all their best boys players to other older DAs.

The Ryan Austin hire will stop this exodus dramatically. That’s what I hear but I don’t know much about him. NTH still needs to expand their DA years because there will always be top boys who want to play DA only and will leave at U15 to join UFA or Concorde.

I agree, but it’s not as easy as you make it out to be to get DA.

This is a long term project by NASA. Remember DS was integral in the formation of Georgia United. Thinking he is identifying who has the expertise and reputation to help him get NASA where he wants them to be.
Last year it was Mike Gailey and pretty much the entire Concorde North program. This year it's Smyrna, RA and the DA quality players that will follow him from Concorde. Ultimately, RA is a long term hire that will develop from within and DS knows this.
What's DS up to next? Stay tuned! Good things happening at NASA!

Have to give him (DS) tons of credit - for a guy who honestly checked out after his kid graduated and rumors of him headed full time to lake point (years ago) - to merging with Tophat and then like you said essentially taking over Concorde north. Very impressive. RA will be the biggest game changer up there for sure. With the young crop of talent they have up there - future looks bright and I would expect them to be able to get the older DA group in the future - DS knows the politics and landscape from his GA united days - his team was always the flagship squad over there.

NASA does seem to be a program on the rise. Rising U13 DA 2007 should be must watch next season along with AU and CF. I expect all 3 programs to get some good results in the Carolinas this coming season.

RA is a solid, solid coach and DA Director level coach. Its a power move by NTH.
I see CF loosing DA and NASA being awarded for older boys. Greg/Ken over at CF just looking for money. They only have 2 A coaches at CF so how are they even going manage.
On the 04 team at AU Ryan has 6-7 boys that are rocking.

Agreed! He was one of the few coaches at Concorde that focused on player development and if I am correct it's not just 04s that he's put into the AU academy. I think there are many others in the other age groups too. Keep an eye on the DA 06 age group at CF, he was doing great things with that team before he left.
As Soccerhouse mentioned this hire (in combination with the Smyrna deal) is a game changer and will catapult NASA forward in many respects.
Exciting times!

I will be interested to hear about NASA rising U14 2006 DA tryouts. That team did not have very good results last year and I wonder if some CF, SSA, or Smyrna kids may come to strengthen?

I think the NASA 06 DA team will be drastically improved due to the "RA" and "Smyrna" effect. Heard the ID camp last week brought some potential major upgrades from both CF and Smyrna.
Seems the landscape may be changing and the week ahead should be a very interesting one.

So are you all saying 06 boys would leave CF for NASA because RA left BUT he would not be coaching them (MG) or even be the director (RT) of the DA program at NASA? Just trying to follow along...

Nope. NASA 06 DA might bring in some Smyrna players but at most only 2 CF players. This is Georgia youth soccer - one should only believe things that are a present reality, not sheer conjecture. Right now NASA does NOT have boys DA beyond U-14. Period. CF has the full slate. Next year, we’ll see. But that’s a big gamble.
