Yeah I’m not so sure where this ‘it’s all about the Benjamin’s’ is coming from. You have to pay big bucks to play HS football, or any other HS sport for that matter. The counties or school boards are not allowing football so they can rake in the cash. One big difference between HS and college football? TV money. Huge in college, non existent in HS. Is there a bigger budget in HS football compared to HS soccer? Yes. Do HS Admins care a lot more about football than soccer? Of course. But maybe just maybe someone thought that football is primarily outside/spread out while school is inside/close together. All the posters and flyers and guidance say ‘were you exposed less than six feet for more than 15 minutes?’ Sports = No; Math = Yes.

Coach Terrence Hughey confirmed the decision to GHSF Daily, citing low participation numbers amid the pandemic. Canceled: *Rockdale County (3): Heritage-Conyers, Rockdale County, Salem Others (7): Calhoun County, Clarkston, Riverside Military, Our Lady of Mercy, Pinecrest Academy, Stewart County, Twiggs County www.ajc.com/sports/high-school-sports-blog/notebook-clarkston-becomes-10th-ghsa-football-team-to-cancel-season/BAXUCUUZJND5JDAEGR2DH2FSTU/

There’s one way that money prob does impact football go/no-go decisions. Kids at football powerhouses like Grayson are going to be playing in the League soon. So they’ll probably play. Kids at KIPP Atlanta probably are not turning pro soon so a decision to postpone or cancel has less impact.

My sons school canceled all fall sports-it’s a small private school-I would be surprised if many/any were going to a D1 school to play sports. Well, unless you count the chess or debate teams as a sport.

Other powerhouse schools equivalent to a Grayson, have just cancelled the next several games, atleast its not the season. I've noticed schools have intentionally scheduled most of their respective rivalry games in September. Lends me to believe they know a full season is doubtful!

It really i$ a fa$cinating que$tion, i$n't it?
I see the sarcasm but don’t understand it? Am I wrong in assuming if there are games that there won’t be spectators? If there are no spectators, I would assume no concession stands. If no spectators, then no parking fees. So where is the money in high school football now? No games = no coaches bonuses. No college recruiters no chances of extra perks. No advancement. No advertising or marketing dollars, HS coaches in Ga don’t make upward of $75K a year to just teach.

The local games on tv last night, had a good number of fans in attendance but allowed plenty of space for distancing. On another note, I've been surprised at the money parents pay out for kids these days to play high school "revenue" sports like football. not just football.. I heard before (probably here) that it costs almost the same as club fees to play at some of the bigger HS here for soccer. Honest truth. It’s absurdly weighted toward wealthy kids just like club ball.

Several cancelled due to low participation. Many have cancelled before or haven't won games in recent seasons. Pinecrest dropped down to the private school league due to low numbers. They are playing 8 man football.
I'm sure part of the low numbers is due to their enrollment. Parents with decreased income cant afford private school tuition.

Our private school has increased enrollment. Parents who did not want their kids (or their kids did not want it either) to do all online school have brought their kids in. There has also been increased numbers added to their online program because relative to the public school programs they did and do much better with the online programs. I have not heard the private school numbers are down in general but I do know of people who did not want to do football because they felt like it was higher risk.

That was a supposition on my part. I wanted to point out that Pinecrest is playing fb. Clarkston hasn't had a team for a few years. The A schools that cancelled did so because frankly they arent large enough to support a team. They should look at 8 man football as some states play in the smallest division.
It wasn't caused by Covid.

I guess this prediction was WRONG! Welcome back college football. I predict the Big 10 plays by November. How's that for a prediction...

I guess this prediction was WRONG! Welcome back college football. I predict the Big 10 plays by November. How's that for a prediction... Honestly, no disrespect intended but are you the Rudy from Notre Dame the aptly named movie is based on? Okay that was wrong and I apologize but I just couldn't pass up on the whole Rudy and CF association 🙏 I like you feel like the Big 10(made up of 14) has come to regret pulling the trigger so quickly and leaving almost no wiggle room. I hope they begin in November so that real games get played during the dead period of December. My question is what about the 497 bowls that usually get played post season: will they have enough eligible teams and if so will they still be solvent to put on a bowl game? What about the Nat'l Championship, does anyone know of any plans regarding that? BTW: Some might say College Football doesn't really begin till September 26th 🤭🤭

Not the Notre Dame Rudy...
No true Big 10 fan ever routes for ND. They are the hated rival of the Big 10.
