Hard to judge on a yellow for substitution issue without actually being there but sounds harsh. That said, entering the field without permission is a yellow card offense. No matter what state or country you are playing in. Shouldn't be that hard to avoid, though. Stand at midfield, wait until the ref gives you permission to come on. Take off your bib (don't get me started on coaches that don't have bench players wearing a bib when not seated) and hand it to the player you are replacing. Easy peasy.
Abusive language towards anyone is a red. No questions about it. If my kid said a four letter word to a ref I'd yank them off the field myself. I shouldn't curse at my boss, kids shouldn't curse at their teachers or anyone in an authority position. It isn't that hard. This discussion wouldn't even be a thing if the two players shown reds had kept their cool at the end of the game.
I always remind my players to remember that they make more mistakes in a game than the ref...by a large multiple. Yes we may want to blame an outcome on a ref giving or missing a PK but what about the many dozens of opportunities in the attacking third that weren't converted? It is easier to judge the "mistakes" made by a ref...or keeper or centerback...than precious Johnny playing on the left wing. Sadly what most of these kids are learning from the sidelines is how to blame others and/or that mom or dad has a superhuman ability to know in a split second whether a foul or offside call should be made from 50 yards away. They aren't going to succeed by playing with "fan behavior" but yet we as parents perpetuate that as acceptable. Food for thought.

Lol In all seriousness they are 13 year olds and anyone can have a bad game. Anyone know what happened, were they missing key players? Or was it just payback to get beat by the former coach’s new team?

They’re a very good team. They’ve done nothing to deserve your nonsense. This forum reaches new lows every time I take a glance in its direction. Not to mention, calling AFU’s kids the worst team in the city. What in the hell is wrong with you people? These are kids learning a game. Leave them all alone. You are what’s wrong with youth soccer.

I think its moreso a dig at the club and the parents and their need to feel superior. I agree the last line was not necessary.

Of the 12 o1/02s he coached from u8 to u13, 8 are playing high level or SEC/ACC soccer including UGA, Army, ND (2), U Miami, U Tenn, Furman, etc. I am unaware of ANY coach developing 75% of his u9 kids into high level college players. (Heck, 75% usually quit by u13!) He also took a less than stellar team to ECNL finals just 2 years ago. Don't give up hope too soon. Sometimes it takes time for teams to gel.

By Platinum parents and Platinum players I’m assuming you mean the ones formerly known as Tophat. Lol In all seriousness they are 13 year olds and anyone can have a bad game. Anyone know what happened, were they missing key players? Or was it just payback to get beat by the former coach’s new team? I will say, maybe that last line was not called for for nor appropriate and i can see how it may have been interpreted by most. I happen to be at the game in support of friends now at GSA. So far, here is what I've collated in conjunction with my 2 cents from what I watched. From the parents on the sideline both teams had their full squads. The former coach does not coach the AFU team but I believe has a daughter on that team. Former coach was definitely on hand to watch this game and could be heard from the hill 🙂 I did miss the first 15 mins or so but here is my analysis of the game. The AFU coach does yell quite a bit but I'm guessing the parents/players are used to it. First half both teams we're evenly matched, towards the last 15 mins of the half, the subs brought in for CF made a few more runs at trying to penetrate the backline. The CF goalie was never truly tested in the first half but the AFU goalie saved a few good attempts including a breakaway 1v1 that she got BIG for and thwarted. Both teams playing what looked like a standard 4-3-3 and the first half ended 0-0. Second half is where all the fireworks occurred. First off the AFU coach changed the formation to either a 4-4-2 or a 4-5-1 and the coach finally quietened down. CF stayed with the 4-3-3 . The CF players up top were definitely more athletic and fast. However, once they got to the top of the box, they resorted to individual play and could never really connect passes together. Additionally, with 4/5 in the middle by AFU plus the 4 on the backline acted as a counter to the speed of the CF forwards who now had to navigate through a whole lot more players to get to goal. This move negated their speed and forced them to try and work the ball around the bodies. Additionally it forced the CF players to come in tighter and pinch in, which left the wings open for AFU to exploit. The first goal for AFU came off of a strike from outside the box after their left back/winger made overlapping runs and sent the ball to the top of the box. The second goal came from an AFU player going down the right wing and crossing the ball in for a slide kick into goal, resulting in the player ending up in the goal. Let me state the obvious, I don't have a dog in this fight, but I think it was a good game, highly competitive and fun for the spectators. I give the MOTM to the AFU team collectively and if I had to pick one player their Goalie who came up big for them. I would say the CF coach was outcoached and did not have a response or didn't know what adjustments to make. Finally, the CF team has some very good players but they need to learn to play as one. Once the first goal was scored by AFU they resorted even more to individual play as opposed to team play. All in all, a good fun game to watch and the city should be proud that we get to have these type of games locally... Kudos to both sets of players 👏👏👏

Just a small nitpick...from the replay on the AFU IG, it didn't look like she slid into the goal but was hit from behind into the goal while finishing. Could have been a caution. http://instagr.am/p/CH8BXoJDSD9

I may be a sicko because I thought the coaching 4 dummies book was hilarious. I didn’t see anything offensive about those comments. They were very tame compared to some of the other team comments. You can’t get mad if something is true.

Could have been a caution. http://instagr.am/p/CH8BXoJDSD9 Looking at the video, agree, it was an obvious foul. Also, looking at the video, looks like CF outside back was caught out of position and could not catch up. It was not a great cross. Looks like the goal resulted from a pretty serious misplay by the keeper.

Sad, Sad, SAD that people can’t just say, “Hey nice win to the AFU 07 Girls team.” But instead are trying to find all kinds of excuses as to why they won. Sounds a lot like the status of our current election. It is a good thing 12/13 year olds have better things to do than read this forum. Congratulations to the girls, may this win, give them some confidence moving forward into the spring season.

I know we all get caught up in the moment of the joy of an upset or the agony of a defeat. We should celebrate both teams and give kudos to them for playing great footy. We should not try to diminish the efforts of the losing team or minimize that of the winning team. Let's all realize that these are 12 or 13 year old girls who have probably forgotten about the win/loss and are truly looking for the best background to make their next Tik-Tok video, hoping it goes viral with 200+ views... p.s. Lets also be thankful our kids are able to ply their love of the beautiful game within the environment we're currently in. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone, Stay Safe 🙏🙏🙏

I don’t believe SSA beat AU (08’s) this year - they lost both games pretty bad. I do believe LSA beat AU though. I’d be curious on how LSA did against GSA too. AU 08s beat SSA 08s (twice) 7-0 & 6-1 LSA 08s beat AU 08s 3-2 LSA 08s tied GSA 08s 3-3 Bonus #1 AU 08s beat GSA 08s 4-2 Bonus#2 AU 07s vs GSA 07s tied 0-0

Based on game rosters AU played their 06s in 2-2 draw with GSA and 05s in a 5-1 win. And beat AFU 3-0 with the 05s and lost 0-1 with the 06s. Lost 1-3 against Alabama FC with the 06s. But only one of the losses is showing up in the standings...typical TGS.

Currently, between concussion protocols, injuries, conflicts, etc., many of the AU teams are down in available bodies to play games. I earnestly wait for the results of the spate of weekend games to come in for two reasons. One to see if playing with younger players sometimes 2 years younger to field a team will give some of their teams a challenge and secondly, should they lose a game(aghast at that thought), how the haterade for AU will get turned up and provide comedic responses that could take us till the end of the month 🙂🙃🙂

Yeah the mixing of players is full swing at AU. This is the time they really start mixing it up a lot.
U16s lost to CF yesterday but AU had 07's, 06s, and some 05s. Some of the top 05s played with the U17s and beat Jacksonville in MLS Next 2-0
The u19s AU vs CF Plat won 3-0.

no clue. i know fielding teams is a challenge between U17 MLS and U19 MLS and ECNL plus injuries.
I personally like it. Gives ample play time for development.
I think the USL will become more of the U19 league. will see
