I posted about some actual situations that occurred and asked if they were ok. Some people never addressed the situations and went straight to making assumptions about the poster. So let me give you some info about my snowflake self and my snowflake daughter. And no I don't care if some people figure out who we are. I took a while to think about replying to these comments. I don't want to seem self-aggrandizing or to be bragging on my kid. I coached high school football with some great coaches. The Head Coach was just inducted into the Georgia Coaches Hall of Fame. While I was there we won 2 state titles and had dozens of kids to go play college football (many at SEC schools). They won a lot more without me. I took over a girls' soccer team that had never won more than 6 games. Five years later we had won 3 region titles and made it to the final four in the play-offs (with only 2 girls that played athena II). I now run a junior wrestling program for one of the most successful coaches in GHSA history. Between softball, soccer, and wrestling he has won I believe 11 state titles. The coaches on the junior program have produced over 150 state champs and placers. Somewhere in this thread someone was talking about about what it took to be ELITE. I have been around ELITE. I have seen some of the best in the history of this state. They were always about developing and encouraging. Of course they were all demanding and held athletes accountable. But they never went after players personally or said things derogatory about there personalities. There is a huge difference between criticizing the way a player does something and criticizing the player. These are a couple of examples. If someone is playing poorly, take them out. Tell them why they were taken out and what they should of done. Don't tell them they suck and tell them to just go sit on the bench. Don't talk poorly about players where other players can hear. Talk about your good players and what makes them successful. If you are coaching kids 14 and under and they are wanting to quit a sport, I think you are doing a terrible job. The youth ages are about development and growth as players. It is not the time to weed out the "snowflakes" or "weak" kids. You never know what someone is going to develop into until after puberty. Now about that snowflake daughter. She is keeper. At her request and with doctor's permission, she has played in goal at U12 with a big toe broken in two places. At U14 she she fractured a thumb in two places. She played in a tournament the next weekend with a hard cast over that thumb, wrist, and forearm. Two weeks later she talked the doctor into letting her play in a big game with just a splint, even though the thumb was not completely healed. She has won the state wrestling tournament five times. She has been to USA Nationals wrestling tournament twice and finished 5th and 2nd. She is playing for Coach Rivah for the third time. I haven't seen a soccer coach that is more demanding and expects more out his players (and he develops them without having anyone quit). She is some kind of snowflake! So go ahead and type you keyboard warrior. Put down kids for "only" earning a Div II. scholarship. Some of us do have the experience and knowledge of what it takes to be ELITE. Some of you only think you do. Oldhat. You the man. Can’t agree more with your post, Grasshopper (as we have found out she is not Mike but probably Mike’s wife) should probably read this multiple times and probably apologize to 03fk and his daughter. The Rivah comment you are correct my daughter played 1 year for him and he was extremely demanding on her but she knew why he was tough on her. Was upset when she didn’t have a chance to play for him again. She then went on to play for PD who also doesn’t like snowflakes but enjoyed playing for him as well. Wonder what grasshopper feels about these 2 coaches because I enjoyed them botj

OMG so all of this bashing is about a few people who didn’t make a team a couple years ago? And parents of players that he was too hard on?!! The truth finally surfaces. If the coach isn’t a fit, then go somewhere else- problem solved. Obviously he isn’t that bad if he still has another team and many people who pay to train with him. Glad this was solved, have a great week people. If you do not think someone is good enough for your team, cut them. No problem. You don't have that type of conversation with a 12 year old and not have the decency to call them yourself to tell them they did not make the team. If you can not see the difference in those two things and the proper way to treat kids, then you are clueless and you should not be around or coaching kids. Here is what could have been said: "Thank you for trying out for my team. I have decided to go with someone else. I hope you have a successful year next year." See how simple that this. One is succinct, honest, and professional. The other way leaves a kid wondering what happened. Can you see the difference?

Based on my experience, if it was ONLY 1 person, and she was able to get a coach removed midseason, we aren't hearing the entire story. Either the parent has enough to threaten a lawsuit OR the parent knows someone high up in the club. Here in youth soccer it's often about who you know and who they know.

TopHat did the right thing.

This story is a bit bizarre. I am not on the forum much but I feel like the MC topic comes up every few months. Since I haven’t followed this topic that closely, are these the same stories by the same folks that recycle every few months or are they new stories ( new parents/ new players) ? If it’s the latter maybe MC should take a break for a few months and reflect on whether he even enjoys coaching at this level anymore? If its the former those folks need to move on. My perspective is MC is a good coach (some might say great…obviously some would not ) but even good coaches might need time to recharge once in a while. I don’t think a good coach should be fired or pushed out but maybe a “Time Out” is appropriate. Good coaches are hard to come by and I bet many parents and players would give him a very good endorsement. This is all just my opinion- I have absolutely no dog in this fight.

I am sure Tophat can find another Avenue for him to help the club while he re-examines what happens and get coached in the finer points. I have heard from numerous people he is good coach but needs a lot of help on his bed side manner. I am sure there are people that can help him. It will be a long uphill battle to get the parents to trust him again but it can be done.

This is a person/coach that has had the same topic and accusations revised over and over,....and over again. Same or similar topics from different people. What I've been able to understand from first hand and multiple parents and players is consistent on both sides. A coach that understands soccer, but is abusive to children (females specifically).
If the abusive part is even partially true 10-20%% of the time, it is not acceptable. I've glanced in the forum from time to time and I've not seen this particular subject repeatedly aligned to the same coach as much as I've heard on this forum or from parents. With statements from some are parents I know, or their child who has witnessed it first hand and felt sorry for their teammate, and in some instances the direct recipients that were the "target" but to scared or unknowledgeable enough to recognize what was happening with very few with an axe to grind. If you are not about what's right or wrong on the big picture of life, and have a child that is motivated by fear and guilt, I guess this coach and "the process" will continue for you and Mike. I would be concerned for the collateral damage it would do to children long term (or others in the vicinity per what I read on the topic of abuse) and their acknowledgement of what is an acceptable and truly motivational.
Some parents will over look this as part of the payment to success, some will recognize what it really is from someone untrained in the area of social and mental wellbeing.....a form of abuse. Disappointing and concerning at the same is that this is not of not college level seniors, professional players, but children at the end of the day who are still learning and developing into who they are. Levels that this coach is not familiar with and can not relate to at all at the end of the day for many reasons already aired.

Hello, This is the real Mike C. I am here to make some things clear for those who do not know me while a couple of folks (with multiple forum accounts) keep trying to attack me. Please stop attacking me or I may expose you Almost everything being said here is not true or lacks context. What is true, by my fans and haters, is that I understand football and give my all to the community. I love my job, my players, and seeing their progress on the field and in life. I respect every player and would never want to say anything to hurt them but only to help them improve. Yes, I talk about the importance of having personality and character. Yes, I talk about accountability and commitment. Yes, I push my players to feel comfortable being uncomfortable. Yes, I talk about passion and culture. I believe all these traits are key to being successful on and off the field. I have coached for some of the best football programs in the nation in the last 12 years, 40+ teams and close to 700+ players from my teams to private training to camps to programs I have created. I am sorry if you do not like my style or did not get your way. I welcome anyone, even haters, to a FREE training session where I guarantee the player will improve. In fact, parents are welcome to be a part of the session as well! I welcome everyone to follow my Instagram account, Process_FC, as I plan to go live my next couple of training sessions for the world to hear and see me in action. I will not go back and forth on this platform but if you have any questions or concerns, email me at Mike@ProcessFC .com. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, cheers.

Well this thread just took an interesting twist. Certainly there was a more mature response from Mike C here than Richie Burke's response to a former player where he said she was a cancer in the locker room and he could not stand her.
