I talked to a strong source that said they were not dropping the U13 team next year and are actively recruiting for that team. I still do not know what to believe lol Hearing MLS Next will be U15, U16, U18 I have heard the same thing. I've also heard the GA Cup will be changed from the U15 and U17 to the new age groups also...

It is also looking like MLS Next will only be Pro academy teams the clubs that had MLS Next would play NAL Hadn't heard this but if the pro-academy teams go this route, that would be dumb. With MLS-Next as it is, you do get many more opponents to play and you reduce travel costs by keeping the regulars season games to your region with the occasional games outside your region to play other pro-MLS academy teams. So where will the pro-academy teams get their regular games from, scrimmages, join ECNL? If true, not a good idea on the part of those in charge, but then again, what's new... p.s. Wow. News!
The question is how does Chattanooga Red Wolves even get to keep ecnl - club is as bad as it gets , and Alabama FC has probably the worst officials in the history of sport.

I somehow struggled to see how this is the actual U15 Man U academy. I did not see any kid that could even play on that AU U15 team. 4:0 was kind to Man U.

They mentioned Carrick a couple of times. That AU team looked good. Broadcasters mentioned something about some of the foreign teams having to assemble a roster to fit. Guessing they intersperse kids by quality more than specific ages maybe?

Hearing MLS Next will be U15, U16, U18 This is certainly interesting. Any idea what they will do with players in the younger age groups if true? I believe they have players as young as upcoming U12 on their current U13 team. Two additional/related possibilities: 1) Only MLS Academies will be U15, U16, U18, others remain 2) MLS Next teams at younger ages will play in NAL(perhaps a year up?) & U19s in UPSL

Maybe the size and speed all the parents are complaining about is working out for ATL U LOL
As for having to assemble a roster in England they go by age at the start of the season not birth year which makes way more sense so their U15 is not the same as ours

Man United like all European clubs just put players on the team that do not exceed the age limit. Could be 12 yr old or 14. Based on their results I’m guessing Man United didn’t field their best players. B. Atl Utd U15 advanced to round of 16 so we shall see how it plays out. U17 still pending but the went 1-1-1

For those without access to The Athletic...
New York Red Bulls to depart youth tournament due to on-field racism incidents, sources say... By Tom Bogert
The New York Red Bulls’ academy teams decided to pull out of the Generation Adidas (GA) Cup, sources briefed on the situation tell The Athletic. The players alleged an “extreme lack of action” by MLS after two separate on-field racist incidents against players on the club’s Under-17 team. The latest of those incidents came on Thursday, when the team alleges U-17 defender Eric Tai was racially abused by a player from Croatian side Hajduk Split. Sources present at the game told The Athletic that the referee recognized the racist language and sent the player off as a result. Days earlier, U-17 goalkeeper Joshua Grant alleged he was racially abused by a CF Monterrey player.
“What has happened these past two games is completely inappropriate and has changed our team forever,” the Red Bulls U-17 players said in a statement on Thursday. “The extreme lack of action taken by the league is unacceptable and has left a feeling of untrust and uncertainty in our safety and well-being while playing in this event and our games back home. We hope this situation will bring light to an ongoing problem in the game of football and in our world.”
The Red Bulls’ U-17 team had been eliminated from the tournament in the round of 16 by Hajduk Split on Thursday, but the U-15 side had advanced to the quarterfinals. The U-15 team will not participate in Thursday’s scheduled game against French side Toulouse. Hajduk Split is still scheduled to play in the U-17 quarterfinals. Monterrey had already been eliminated but had played another game since the incident with the club still scheduled to play a consolation game on Friday.
MLS did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the incident involving Hajduk Split and the Red Bulls’ departure. The league’s academy circuit, MLS Next, released a statement after the first incident saying it was aware of and investigating the allegations.
The GA Cup is a premier youth soccer tournament organized by MLS, featuring all 29 MLS academies plus select others, including clubs from abroad. Manchester United, Arsenal, River Plate and Flamengo were among the international clubs to join this year along with CF Monterrey and Hajduk Split.
Tai was part of the Red Bulls U-15 team that won MLS Next Cup last year before graduating to the U-17 team this year. Grant joined the Red Bulls academy this year from Real Salt Lake. He is a Jamaica youth international. On Thursday night, Grant posted a story on Instagram asking the league to “please do something.” “Why do colored players like myself continue to be called monkeys by international teams?” Grant wrote. “Today the same thing happened to my teammate. Please do something.” Grant tagged Black Players for Change as well as MLS and MLS Next Pro.

Where did you see Flamengo were kicked out? According to the ESPN article they withdrew. www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/39894420/flamengo-withdraws-mls-youth-cup-abuse-investigationIn a statement on Sunday, Flamengo said the club "strongly repudiates what happened on Saturday, in Bradenton, in the Generation Adidas Cup U-17 semifinals, when some athletes from our squad were victims of racial insults. It's unacceptable that episodes like this happens. Racism is a crime and must be harshly punished. "After what happened, the club filed a formal representation to MLS reporting the case and will not compete for third place. There's no place for situations like this or any type of prejudice, specially in sports initiation, when children and adolescents are becoming adults." Later on Sunday, MLS NEXT released a statement in which it said that its investigation had been completed, and that it had "issued suspensions in accordance with the MLS NEXT Disciplinary Code to individuals of both clubs for violating the MLS NEXT Safety and Wellbeing policy. Due to the minors' age, further details regarding the individuals will not be discussed." Sources with knowledge of the investigation told ESPN that the allegations of discriminatory language by Philadelphia Union players against their Flamengo counterparts couldn't be corroborated, but that a Union player was suspended for escalating the situation.

The Atlanta United U14s (2010) had an interesting scrimmage today. They travelled to Clemson, SC, to play on the Clemson University women's soccer team. This was followed up with a tour of the facilities and a Q & A session with some from the Men's Soccer team. For those bursting to ask, the final score was 4-4. For those with the other obvious question, Clemson dominated in the first half, going up 3-0 In the second half, the AU lads found themselves leading 4-3, but the Clemson women penetrated and won a PK that they made, and the game finished 4-4...

wow, interesting clemson/au story - honestly, if this is to help the girls, invite an older boys team in and mix the girls up with the boys and scrimmage etc. just my opinion.
i saw the 2s got beaten bad by philly last night...outch that team has issues. they have kids playing on that team that would struggle to make the starting 11 on an ecnl team. I won't say who, but not impressed at all. and they had 2 homegrowns out there who recently suited up with the first team, that have to make an impact on the game. granted, I didn't watch, so maybe they did.
Also I heard UGA played the u13s this weekend also?
