Some young talents have made the bold decision to leave the comfort of their homes and familiar club environments to establish residency in Ohio, specifically within the Cincinnati area. Four boys have recently transitioned from the AU Academy to the FC Cincinnati homegrown territory. Interestingly, our awareness of these moves has come to light due to a couple of them entering arbitration negotiations. The issue arises from AU's insistence on compensation to relinquish claims on these players, despite the fact that their connection to AU is solely based on their place of birth or residence within the homegrown territory. It's high time we abandon this outdated and restrictive model, prioritizing the best interests and opportunities for these talented youngsters... #ModernSlaveTrade

Fun fact: at this point in the season, Atlanta United and Atlanta United 2 both stand in the 13th position in their individual league standings. Collectively, they have 7 wins out of 27 matches played and a total of 28 points out of a grand total of 81 possible points... #Winning

These kids, if talented, should go play in USL and then move on to Europe or SA.
Please note the below, as this is a design perk, not a design flaw, of the MLS franchise system:
*********
"Keith J. Kanouse Franchise Lawyer in Boca Raton, FL Not yet reviewed Rating: 10 Posted on Feb 7, 2017 Most franchise agreement contain a provision whereby the franchisee agrees not to hire any person working for another franchisee. The franchisee is supposed to get a written agreement from you agreeing to this. Since you did not sign any agreement with the franchisee you are free to work anywhere. However, if you go to work for another franchisee in the same system, that franchisee may breach its franchise agreement if that franchisee hires you. Your prospective new employer should look at his or her franchise agreement to see if that provision is included. If it is, the prospective new employer may not want to get into a possible legal battle unless the franchisor and existing franchisee consent to your hiring..."

My apologies if this has already been discussed or mentioned... It looks like Atlanta United is finally moving forward with the expansion of the CHOA Training Grounds. The new additions will nearly double the training center's capacity, addressing many existing needs. However, one significant issue that remains unaddressed is the parking situation, which continues to be a source of frustration and confusion. The expansion project, estimated to cost approximately $23 million, will include the construction of a two-story, 20,000-square-foot building. Construction is set to begin this summer, with a targeted completion date in the summer of 2025. This timeline is ideal, as it will allow the facility to host international teams seeking a training home during the World Cup and other subsequent world-class soccer events. In addition to the main expansion, there will be upgrades and expansions to support Atlanta United 2 (AU2) and the Academy teams. The project will also include the renovation of the Truist Pavilion locker rooms and the creation of a content studio, further enhancing the capabilities and appeal of the training grounds. www.atlutd.com/news/expansion-plans-marietta-campus-childrens-healthcare-of-atlanta-training-ground

I honestly thought I'd come here and find a few opinions on the AU game against RSL. Spoiler Alert: It ended in a 5-2 loss!
Once again, AU's backline and defensive shape were problematic, leading to five goals against us. I still believe Guzan should have saved the third goal; Arango ran in unchallenged on a set play and scored. Goal number five encapsulated the whole night. Slisz, for lack of a better word, passed the ball directly to RSL, right outside our box. RSL's Chang then crossed the ball into the 18-yard box, and Luna had enough time to catch, trap, control, reset his feet, pivot, and shoot, with not a single AU player close enough to challenge him.
Thank the soccer gods for offsides in the waning minutes, or it could have been 6-2. I know the coffers are full now from the transfer/sale of GG and Almada. I say use some on some quality defenders...
For those who were fortunate enough to miss the game but are still curious to see the highlights, you can watch them here:

MLS roster money isn’t sufficient for quality defenders. If you also want offense. It’s just substandard. And any league that has parity as an objective is gonna remain substandard. I acknowledge the desire for spending limits but it’s 20 years past time to remove the training wheels. I wonder how quickly Apple will lose interest once Messi retires.

Seems like most of the season our defense has been a liability. We don’t close down attacking players well, we allow way too many dangerous crosses into the box (see the DC United game from 5/11) our left flank is often exposed when we lose the ball with Wiley upfield, etc. Now that we have lost our creative mid and best striker, I’m not looking forward to the rest of the season.
What a week it has been with the USMNT bowing out early, Atlanta United playing poorly, and the Supreme Court deciding kings are back in style. Maybe the USWNT will play well in the Olympics. 😀

They're off to Parieee for the Olympics...

I agree with all you've said, I'm just hoping AU chooses for once to not go all out and spend record $$ to get a forward/striker but just a wee bit less to have some coins left to spend on a little higher quality defender(s)...

The fact that they are even playing games right now during euro and copa america to me is embarrassing and hard to take the league seriously. the 2s are continually showing why they are a permanent disaster -- it's wild how that team still can't consistently be good.
someone needs to write a novel on the epic fail of atlanta united -- they went from the envy of the league, MLS 2.0 to an embarrassment. I give zero sh*** if my team makes money selling players, i want wins and I want to be competitive.
Your kidding and lieing to yourself if you think Cobb is a starter in any professional league - kid should be in college.
That roster thrown out there against Real was embarrassing The entire success of the franchise was because of Almiron - there I said it.

down 1 more: Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle with Atlanta United to sign Caleb Wiley. He is set to join for a fee of around £8.5M ($10.9M) and on a contract until June 2031. Wiley is expected to be sent on loan to RC Strasbourg next season. x.com/USMNTOtaku/status/1810390174351896880

I’ve got: GG $10mm Tiago $21mm with another $9mm in potential add-ons Caleb $11mm Barco $11mm Barco to Moscow from River for $16mm and us getting $11mm of that is the ultimate WTF of the window.

Okay, I hate to rail on a local homegrown but you are 100% on point with this. He hustles his behind off, but at the pro-level you need more than the hustling mentality. IMO, for now he is better suited for AU2. There he can shine and maybe even dominate. He reminds me of the kid that's playing up and you ask yourself, ummm why? I think he needs more seasoning and more specifically coaching. He was fully exposed when he was put up against DC United and Benteke, who went on to have a Hat-Trick...

great for atlanta united making $$$ selling players, but unfortunately, the league doesn't allow you to turn around and replace players in the same manner. Look, I'm not the "biggest" fan of the team, enjoyed watching them like crazy in year 1 and 2, as I said before, greatest show on turf for sure, must watch TV etc, excitement from opening kickoff to final whistle.
But you can't sell of all your top players every other year -- its not sustainable from a fan perspective. I have no issues with selling academy players, because those players should not be held back or locked into the MLS system if they deserve better
The fact that Guzan is the only player remaining says alot to me, I can't believe he's still the starting keeper and the only player remaining from the inaugural season. So many likeable and quality players kicked to the curb.
Imagine if golden state sold Curry and Thompson after their first title, or the Celtics gave up on Tatum....... Kind of crazy that this team is 10th in the east, and the bottom 1/3 of the league and they are selling off all their talent. Maybe they see it as a rebuild, I think to them its all about making $ and the NFL tax write off for the owners......
Oh, and since I'm grumpy -- give me bobby dodd all day over Mercedes, just had to add that in again.....Something about the real open air stadium that just hits differently.

TF is leagues cup? Besides not US Open Cup - since that doesn’t fill MLS owner pockets?
Edit: still don’t know what Leagues Cup is but don’t realize there was an open cup match 20 minutes from my house. With a closed stand on the side facing the cameras. Something’s quite fishy about the way this tournament is being played by MLS

and Indy 13 didn't even play well. They honestly looked terrible most of the game, barely could complete 2 passes. AU is a dumpster fire right now. Brennan is the only player that actually played well last night. Wiley should have dominated against those stiffs. Some of those indy 14 players looked like old man and couldn't even move laterally.
How do "fans" not attend that game last night? Makes no sense - place should have been packed, yet it looked like a high school game. I don't get it at all -- where were all those people that pack the Yugo Dome? Can't drive north a few miles to watch your team play? Kind of stunning. And no i'm not a fan, Deboring ruined it for me, never cared much for the team to be honest, always felt fake to me for some reason. I enjoyed watching them play, but never truly embraced them. Just always felt forced on me, not sure why.
