We did the GSA pay tryout thing a few yrs ago, as my player needed a club, and it was far cheaper than paying a trnr/coach for 2hrs just to train.
Just be advised- my player’s experience there was no serious evaluation or viewing of him, not a single coach spoke w/him.

So just like tryouts, just about every ID camp is the same day and time. Is AFU's really two days, or just one or the other? I guess they don't want kids showing up at multiple ID camps?

Unless something has changed, AFU has scheduled 3 days. Looking at it again, it depends on the age group. U16 and up do Sunday May 7 as well as Tuesday May 2 and Monday May 8. But is it expected to be at all the dates if you register? All other clubs only have it one day.

They know these kids have a lot going on.

If your player can't make the ID camps, do you think it's too late to ask to practice with the teams of interest a week before tryouts? Or just wait till tryouts?
Player is returning from injury and won't be cleared in time for these ID camps.

Player is returning from injury and won't be cleared in time for these ID camps. It might be too late, but it is worth a try. I think coming back from injury is a good reason to miss but I would call and explain. Hopefully your child played at the same level somewhere else or the chances are not as good to make the top team, unless there is someone to speak up on their behalf like private trainer, HS or club teammate on the team you want to join, HS coach is they are well connected. Some people say there is no chance but that is not true. I have seen kids make the top team their senior years even. Gotta have an in though

Yes they can speak to their players and have them relay messages, or even other coaches to pass along messages, but they shouldn't be speaking with the players directly yet. So, if you are trying to switch clubs, reach out if possible and explain the situation.

Does anyone know anything about Jason Smith at UFA? Curious about preferred style of play and demeanor. Thanks

Good coach for older boys, won't put up with drama or nonsense. I think he is only coaching U-19 ECNL boys next season but not 100% sure.

concorde never announces their coaches- a friend of mine’s daughter is shooting for the 2007G premier ecnl team or ecnlr platinum- we are wondering who the coaches are going to be this coming year and what their styles are like?

I can tell you the 07G ECRL Platinum will be same coach from last year - Mo Issahaku.

Pretty sure Garvin Quamina will have 08, 07, and 05/06 CF ECNL Platinum. He definitely plays heavy possession style.

Concorde seems to want to let you know the day of tryouts who the coaches are so you can't investigate who the coaches are and force you to make decisions without the appropriate information. That tactic saids alot about their integrity.

Unfortunately, you won’t know the Concorde coaches at their ID. And it’s not outside of the realm of possibility that a teams coach doesn’t even come to tryouts. You’ll be told who the coach is when you’re asked to commit.

He was really not liked by us or by the parents of my older kid’s team. He totally gave up on the kids. Spent time in practice talking to another coach and the kids just scrimmaged every practice without much input. Both of my kids did NOT like him. However it was girls teams. Some coaches do better with one gender than another. He might be great with the boys.

It was enough that some complained to the club and others wanted to but were too afraid. My younger daughter’s team had some parents like him a lot and others were neutral or did not like him. I can see that some teams might have a good experience given the difference that happened between my two kids. I don’t know if you ever read the thread about Mike Ceidel, but they were people who love him and those who hate him. I was just listening to a group of people trashing Alan Woods and we know people who adore him. Every coach has detractors and supporters. We did not like Andy. Glad that you did.

Velko is an unbelievable coach. Success with kids of all ages. Considered one of the top coaches in the state. He has previously coached ECNL but now just focuses on one academy team due to his other responsibilities as the Academy director.

My daughter did future academy and loved him. My older daughter did private training and that was great too. I have never had him coach a team with my kids, but I wish I had.

Currently Eddie Hernandez is coaching the 2011 Black team and most of those girls will make the 2011 ECNL Platinum team next year. I believe Eddie will be their coach since this year is his first year with the girls but this is just purely speculation.

My 2010 son is keen to tryout, so any info on team/coach/style of play etc would be helpful TIA Unless you are already drinking the Concorde kool-aid you are late to the game. No shot at platinum unless coach has reached out as they aren’t looking for much being top 10 team in country. Concorde ECNL Premier probably gets beat by platinum ECRL so not worth the time going there plus Concorde tryouts have hundreds of kids so you are easy to get lost in the mix. Depending where you are look at AFU or UFA. Both teams are good and on the way up. Less politics and players at tryouts so easier to stand out as well.
