It is about that time of the year, when internal conversations and allocations of coaches start to filter out. Thought I would kick this off for the upcoming year...
@soccerhouse could you pin this in replacement of 22-23 - Cheers.

Out of curiosity, how is it possible a Director has enough time to coach 3 ECNL teams? lots of extra time when they don’t have to deal with parents complaining and trying to get the coach fired.

Looks like UFA will be losing girls in the 08, 07, & 06/05 age groups….
A lot of concerned parents…

I saw that the rumors are bad on FL forums, but has anyone had any direct experience? Hoping that the seniors are able to find new homes. That's got to be tough. I assume some will follow CH to his new home, if possible.

Out of curiosity, how is it possible a Director has enough time to coach 3 ECNL teams? Really only 2 teams. 06/05 is a combined team... oldest age group. Those 2 teams will travel together and basically play the same schedule so it's a little easier for the director to juggle both. Training will probably be back to back on same days as well. - edited - I see you were probably referring to girls team... guess he has the time

No ecnl coach should coach 3 teams --- too many teams and inability to focus on each team. Is this the first time Iggy hasn't coached a team in the past 10 years?

I understand some of the comments, but seriously, I don't understand how it is possible...especially for U16, U17 & U19.
I don't really know any teams that regularly train on Friday. This means there are essentially 8 time slots Monday - Thursday (2 each night). Each of those teams are training at least 3 nights, and maybe even a 4th night. This means there needs to be 9-12 time slots available to train each team during the week.
I'm guessing teams train together to make it all happen. I wouldn't imagine that would make a lot of people happy. I know my player wouldn't be happy being on a U17 or U19 team and being forced to train with a younger team...especially if it is a regular thing.
I suppose another option is shorter sessions allowing a third training window each night???
Additionally, how can the coach Direct anything when they are always with their teams training?

UFA has 3 practice slots per night so that is not an issue. 5-6:30; 6:30-8; 8-9:30. Also, even if they combine a few of the practices, 08s practicing with 07s is sophomores practicing with juniors, which most kids just finished doing with high school. 07s practicing with 06/05 is juniors practicing with seniors. This is not seniors practicing with 8th graders.

He coaches college too so maybe he has a change related to that job that meant he couldn’t coach these teams? Also he got pulled from one of those teams a few months ago.

Chris Hall left to coach college, and Iggy sold UFA. I dont know much about Chris. He seems like a great guy. If he left to go coach in college that is a great promotion for him. If James is a full time employee, and most directors are, coaching 3 teams is not too much. James was once the ECNL director at Con Fire for several years before moving to Florida. The players are probably in good hands... However if they leave where would they go to play ECNL? CF Platinum? AFU? We are approaching tryout season, otherwise known as crazy season. Good luck to everyone.

I probably should have said, “I think…” I’ll edit the comment above. That’s what my daughter and I heard. Yet, if I’m wrong, I apologize, and I’ll strike the comment. Several members here have direct access to this information and can torpedo my statement if warranted.

Chris Hall - who by the way is the absolute best coach my kids have ever had - did just leave UFA to accept a position with a D1 college in the northeast. He has been very open for years that college is where he ultimately wanted to be and has been coaching at an NAIA school in GA for the last few years. I am extremely thankful that my daughter got to be coached by him for the time that she did. He did wonders for her, not only as a soccer player but also as a person. He will be missed tremendously but we are also very happy for him.
Pretty positive that Iggy did not sell UFA.
James has somewhat of a reputation but from what I have seen, it comes mainly from the Florida soccer forum. I don’t know if you have ever tried to read anything there but that is the absolute last place I would trust for accurate information or go to get advice. If is full of barely literate morons who hate everyone and everything. It is disgusting - the entire forum, not just the parts about James. The only things that I have heard about him from Georgia or people I know and trust is that he is a very good recruiter, a good coach, and will hold kids accountable if they are slacking. I think the parents of those kids are the ones that were not happy with him and the source of the rumors. You have to work hard to be on his team. In my book, that is not a bad thing but we will see over time.
In the meantime, I am choosing to trust the people I do know and respect: Chris and Iggy. Chris likes James - that tells me a lot, pretty much everything I need to know. I value Chris’s opinion a million times more than I do the opinion of some random, anonymous guy(s) that can barely put a sentence together on the Florida forum. Iggy would not hire someone to run his club if he didn’t think he would do a good job or would run kids off. I told my daughter to go into this with an open mind and not listen to what anyone may be saying about James and to make up her own mind based on her interactions with him at practice. She did listen to me for once and so far she likes him. All of her teammates that she has talked to about it like him too now that they have spent some time with him.
I don’t think the sky is falling at UFA or that there will be a mass exodus of girls. But like every year, there will be movement. May will be here soon and everyone can go see if the grass is greener elsewhere but I hope that everyone goes into it with an open mind and doesn’t make decisions based on rumors, especially any they only saw/heard from the disgusting Florida forum.

Not that I know anything about JH but I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the FL forum or negative opinions about coaches. Coaches treat some kids and parents very differently than others and too often those folks who have had negative experiences are afraid to speak up. CH was absolutely horrible to our family. There are other coaches in the ATL area I know of who treat some parents and kids really well and others quite badly. The parents in the former group often beam about those coaches but that isn’t everyone’s experience and those folks who have had negative experiences shouldn’t be shy about speaking up. It really helps families make informed decisions. Long story short - people have opinions and often those opinions differ. No offense to anyone but this is more than just JH post… perhaps the merits or objections can be posted elsewhere. For this thread - besides the UFA announcement, anyone have coaching projections for the other clubs?

Especially when the teams are at the age for college recruiting. How can you coach that many teams, help players with the college recruiting process and also be the DOC. I'm not sure how that will work but something has to give and there will be an area that is lacking. For the sake of the players, hopefully it's not the recruiting part.

It does make you wonder why JH has club hopped. Concorde, Florida Sunrise/FC Prime (maybe fired), TBU for a year. Now at UFA running the show. I have heard he has done some great things for players in his time but I do question his character based on the rumors. You can't have that many different people say the same thing about someone and not think there is some truth to it.

GSA announced: Sun May 7 (Girls and Boys, various times) Concorde (no announcement but it’s on the website) Sat May 6 Girls / Sun May 7 Boys (times, locations TBD) UFA has something on their website but no indication if it’s last year or this year and the links don’t work (so assume it’s last year) Haven’t seen or heard anything about NASA/Tophat.

Pay attention to the links above. If curious about any of the new or old coaches. I would recommend going to the ECNL ID Camp/Clinic and see them in person. They should be there scouting for new players.
