How is Steve Hobart as a coach? Please share your experience about him coaching your player. TIA

Love Coach Steve! My son is on his U12 E64 team (they're playing up in U13). We thought that there was the possibility of him staying with the boys for U13 ECNL, but that isn't the case, sadly. Very big on playing possession ball.

Very big on playing possession ball. Heard he will be taking over the U12 2012B Black team next year. This team is solid. Just played AU 2011 team twice and did not lose, tied 2-2 both games. Should have won the second game. How does Coach Steve run his practice? More on scrimmage or a blend of drills and scrimmage? Some coach tends to take the strong team and focuses on winning rather than develops the players to their potential. Does he develop his players or he inherits a top team and/or a good recruiter? TIA

Practices are a good mix of skills/technical, scrimmages, and fitness. Though not as heavily fitness-focused as their previous coach’s practices from what i understand from other parents (he was this team’s coach U9-U11). I think this particular team’s success this year owes to the fact that, 1) Steve inherited a solid team, 2) he recruited well, 3) he’s a DAMN good coach. Last May, two players were recruited to Atl Utd, two players moved to other clubs, which resulted in 5 new players joining this year. My son was one of the added players. Steve had some some huge tasks - help the boys mesh/coalesce as the team dynamics completely changed, AND transition them from playing 9v9 to 11v11, AND transition them into playing an older age group. No small feat! I have nothing but great things to say about Steve. My son’s confidence and team leadership skills has blossomed under Steve’s tutelage. I truly wish he was moving up with the team and we had him for another year, but alas....
I won’t even go into the cluster that E64 was....but that is a different convo and none of it is on Steve.

Pretty sure Garvin Quamina will have 08, 07, and 05/06 CF ECNL Platinum. He definitely plays heavy possession style. I've heard rumors he will be coaching the 2011 Platinum Girls this year- can you share a little more about him? I’ve heard some credible intel that they are selling Garvin for recruiting purposes, but that Eddie will remain as coach. Feel for the kids currently on that platinum team as I’ve been told they are looking to replace almost everybody on that team. Hopefully some of those kids can find a good landing spot.

Specifically what makes him good? What is style of play? Does he build from the back? Have one of your kids had him as a coach and if so what position and did they improve? Thanks He likes to build from the back. His style of play is possession based. He has high standards and tells parents (and the kids) exactly what needs to improve --whether they want to hear it or not. He understands the long game of youth soccer and is coaching to develop. When we had him, he made sure we played ALL of the best teams in our age group. But then again, we had a team that wanted to play competitively and get better-- not necessarily dominate the GA youth soccer scene. By the end of the season, they were amazing to watch. I wonder if he has the flexibility to restructure his teams now that he's past inheriting last year's teams. If he doesn't, then going to tryouts is a complete waste of time. But you could probably say that about all the tryouts where teams have already been pre-selected and there's only 1 or 2 slots for that unicorn.

The former Tophat girls on that team came the third team at Tophat. I have no horse in this race, but he’s a good coach. He’s getting the very most out of that 10 Premier team. Look at their scores. There’s a ton of one goal losses. Imagine if he had them a bit longer. He’s working with, at best, 2nd and 3rd team talent.

Garvin is a proven selling point, attracting and developing top talent. If they’re looking to “replace” most of the 2011’s, that’s a reflection on the current coach and his ability to develop players. Talent has never been an issue with the that team.

It's always hard to see a familiar face go, but hopefully the new coach will bring a fresh dynamic to the team and take them to the next level. Exciting times ahead!

Their 2011s certainly seem to have taken a step backwards this year. Tophat and UFA are way ahead of them right now. Also, SSA has beat them comfortably the last two times they’ve played them. Judging by Jeff Cup results, GSA 2011s who lost half their team before the season started are also significantly ahead of them.

There’s a one common denominator from previous years to this year. The talent from previous years have moved on to the clubs you just mentioned. Again talent was never the issue with the 2011’s.

My 07 son is likely looking to move on after one more frustrating season of the Concorde coaching carousel. After five years, three different uncredentialed/unqualified coaches, and a ridiculously bad E64 experience it's time. Would really appreciate some feedback on 07 or 06 teams/coaches for us to explore. We play Concorde Central but will travel for the right situation.

Go to Rush, they’ve got a young guy who’s had the 07Bs for about 2 years & plans to keep them through graduation. Solid SCCL team who’s Champions League level and knows how to develop boys to men. Coach is English and played college ball here in the states.

Hope your intel is 100% inaccurate. Don't think a reputable club would walk that slippery slope! Oh wow that would be sort of wild. I dont see how Garvin would be that big of a selling point. Which brings me back to my original question; can anyone share some info about him? Style of play, relationships with players and club, etc Now that Concorde ID Clinic has passed, any credible leads on who will be their 2011G Platinum ECNL coach?

What happened to the UFA coaches projections link? They posted the link and then removed it. Did anyone get a screenshot of it?

2nd team is HORRIBLE and have regressed since the start of season. The coach is Avery Shepard. His style of play is long ball in which he expects 50/50 balls to magically be won by short players. No tactical game plan, few goals scored just a year of overpriced recreational travel soccer at best. (Pull up the ecnl website and look how many goals were scored) This same team beat the 2010 platinum team last year in a gsa final and are now in second to last place. Lost a couple of good players and others were added. Ecrl regional and platinum have 2 solid coaches. 2nd team practices at Ridgeview Tuesday Wednesday and Thursdays 530-7pm. Go to a practice and then watch the game and you will see the style of practice is opposite the style in the game. Also talk to some of the parents as well. As far as coach Jose, will be hard to make that platinum team. I don't know about development but seems to be a good recruiter. Would not consider the second team unless there is a different coach. Problem is Concorde typicakky does not post whobthe coaches are until the last minute so do your research. Hope this helps I think the Platinum team took the Premier team's best player. But there were still some solid players on that team. Not sure how they could have finished 12th out of 13 teams in the Southeast-- other than the fact that they maybe they got Concorded once the honeymoon was over with bringing over the SSA kids and coach in the previous year. It's definitely a "sacking a coach" performance in real life. I've seen the RL teams and they play possession based. They seem to be well coached. But they almost have to play that way because they aren't physical giants like the ECNL teams are. To even be considered by the ECNL teams, your kid needs to be either a known player that plays for a top team, a player cut from Atlanta United, or he needs to look like he is 2 years older than his real age.
