This is going to be an interesting season. From the start, some things that I'm noticing: - I have not seen Denmark play this season, but they lost their scrimmage and the first game of the season 4-0 to Buford and McIntosh, respectively.
- Despite graduating their front three from last season, Walton looks like they picked up where they left off.
- Pope could be really good this season. They have poured in the goals so far. But imagine if they could actually get an actual coach that knows soccer.

Would be great if you keep up your commentary like this as the season goes on. I'm interested in the topic, but have no horse in the race so to speak.

Scorbord just posted their first rankings of the season. Looks like a lot of the "usual suspects" near the top of the lists, but maybe not as many super-teams as the past few years?

Do you have a link? Here is the link: www.scorbord.com/polls/2023-2024-ga-ghsa-class-aaaaaaa-girls-soccer/rankings/week-1Big nonconference game tonight as Walton plays at Harrison. The two schools are no longer in the same region but are bitter rivals. I expect a very intense game tonight. The game will be at Harrison at 6 pm.

2/14 Update: Harrison pulled out a win over Walton in 2 to 1 in OT. Both teams missed chances to win late in regulation with Harrison missing an excellent chance with 40 seconds left. The game was very close with both teams having the upper hand in possession at various points. There were injuries on both sides that impacted the game, but the teams are very similar and close in ability. I think they will see each other again come playoff time. Other top 10 scores of note to me: Denmark fell to Roswell 1 to 5. Seems like a lot of goals. Buford stays undefeated other scores not entered yet. 7A will be alot of fun to watch and follow.

St. Pius 3-1 over Chamblee Chamblee also lost 3-1 to Marist last week. Have a friend with a daughter on the Chamblee team and apparently, the vast majority of their star players from last year's dominant team aren't playing this year, and very little of that was due to graduation. Combination of injuries, players moving, and players either not wanting to or not being allowed to play due to college & other commitments.

Yep all very true, it was a really good game with Chamblee leading 1-0 going into the half. Chamblee still has a strong defense and great goalie play

Walton dropped their last two matches to Harrison and Buford. Good losses but their stock hasn't dropped, in my honest opinion. These two losses could actually help them, especially for it being so early in the season.
Easily one of the most organized teams in all aspects of the game and from what I can tell, they could have one of the deepest rosters in the state.

I haven't watched them play but have only spoken to a couple of the parents. I know they got lit up by Lovett...who is killing everyone and then lost to St. Pius who got walloped by Pope.

They have put up some impressive numbers but not sure about the competition. Score from last night (Cambridge) hasn't posted.

Based on the games I have seen, there are no far and away favorites yet in 7A. The season is still early and someone might emerge. Harrison seems to be better than expected so far as they are undefeated with quality non region wins over Walton and BT. Next week Harrison plays at Lambert. Harrison vs Lambert will be a good one.

I've only heard from BT parents and Westminster parents (scrimmage) but Lovett looks very very strong this year!!!

Walton got a quality win over Milton during Spring Break. Walton looked pretty light on the bench, probably due to Winter Break, but got a goal in the last 15 mins to take the win.
Even playing with a limited bench, they looked like they were clearly the better team over a full-squad Milton team.

Big game tonight! Harrison vs Lambert at Lambert. Harrison is ranked #2 in 7A and is undefeated so far. Lambert is ranked #5 in 7A sporting a record of 4 - 1 - 1. Should be a great non region game for both schools. Girls game starts at 6 pm. Should be a high quality match.

I don't know how Milton is this year.

Any update on Lambert game? High level game. Lots of ECNL, GA, and ECNL RL players on the pitch tonight. Harrison pulled out a 3 to 1 victory. Harrison had an edge in quality shots created. Lambert created a few quality chances as well, but couldnt put em on the mark. The game was 1 - 0, 2 - 0, 3 - 0, then 3-1. First half was highlighly contested with lots of ohs and ahs from the crowd. Credit the Lambert boys for helping create a great, contested atmostphere. When Harrison went up 2 to 0 it felt like the game was over midway through 2nd half as Lambert didnt create another quality chance until they scored late in the 2nd half. Both teams have the chance to make a deep run. A rematch in the playoffs would be highly entertaining.

Is MaxPreps the best site to go to for High School standings and rankings? If so, they don't keep it up-to-date very well at all. Or is there another site that does it better?

I believe scoreboard simply ranks by record. Max Preps at least tries to use a strength of schedule component. Early season thought the strength of schedule doesn't mean as much as it does once region games are being played.
