Have any of y'all seen Carly Bramwell play for South Forsyth High School? She is a 10th grader but she made the all-state team last year as a freshman. I'd highly recommend going to a South Forsyth game if you have the opportunity if you are looking to scout, she's #18. For whatever reason, South just cannot seem to get over the hump in their region. After a good start to the season, they have proceeded to lose every region game this year. In addition to Bramwell, they have two college commits in their midfield. Unlike previous years, they did play Central, Lambert and Denmark very tough, and lost what most would consider heartbreakers. They lost to Central in PKs and gave up the game winner against Lambert off a corner in the final 30 seconds. West is obviously very good this year, so that loss is excusable. Then they finished it off last night by getting shut out by Milton. They just can't seem to get that signature win in or out of region play. It has been this way for them for a while now. I agree, South Forsyth seems to struggle, and with the proximity of UFA you would expect them to have the talent and depth. Even 5A Cambridge beat South Forsyth earlier this season 1-0 and they tied West Forsyth 3-3.

They are also close to UFA and have a ton of their players. Several of my older child’s friends play or played there. I also think that being 5A or 6A is not a big difference in soccer. Next year with the change in classification system my younger child’s high school will be in the same division as Cambridge. Despite being pretty close physically to Cambridge and other schools in the region thankfully we are in a different region. I will be happy we won’t have to play them until playoffs at least!

Couple of massive games played last night:
Westminster beat previously undefeated Marist last night 3-1.
Buford and Jefferson played to a 0-0 draw in a match played at UGA, which is a great experience for those girls, many of whom will go on to play in college.

Marist is really good - they had nice possession and played strong defense (with a couple of late lapses that cost them). Maybe needed to be a little more creative on offense - didn't create a ton of opportunities, but I could see why they have won so many low scoring games.

Offensively Buford had more opportunities… but defensively Jefferson was the better - the goalie was on Fire.

Looking forward to HIES/Lovett and Westminster/Pace tonight. Hillgrove/Buford should be good in the quarters next week.

Girls 4A final is set. North Oconee defeated West Westminster 1-0 and Lovett defeated Cherokee Bluff 7-0.
State Championship game will be Lovett vs North Oconee.
Lovett has dominated all season so will be interesting to see the final.

Buford beat Walton 1-1 (4-2) PKs 3-2 on PKs. It was a good hard fought game by both teams. Neither deserved to lose. The local paper said Walton coach got a red card after Walton scored the go ahead goal in regulation. What was that for??? Tough to go through OT and PKs without a coach.

3-2 on PKs. It was a good hard fought game by both teams. Neither deserved to lose. The local paper said Walton coach got a red card after Walton scored the go ahead goal in regulation. What was that for??? Tough to go through OT and PKs without a coach. This is only what I witnessed from the other side of the field, and heard from a few people after the game. So, I don't know if it is 100% accurate. During the game, both benches were warned several times to back up away from the touch line. (I saw the 4th official warning both teams at times, but didn't know what it was for). After the goal, and before play restarted, the head coach entered the field. I have no idea if he was trying to give instructions or something else. This resulted in a yellow card. From there the assistant coach started yelling at the Center Ref and a second yellow was given. The assistant isn't given the card, it goes to the head coach, so it became red and he was dismissed.

All are great matchups so much talent, but the Roswell vs Marist matchup feels like 2023 all over again. Last year Roswell was the 4th seed and won, so it is going to be very interesting because both are good teams.

I probably agree with all of these except I think West Forsyth is more dangerous than Buford at the moment. I think they will score more. I also think Marist handles Roswell in the revenge tour. But 4A through 7A should all be pretty even games!

Marist beat Roswell 4-3 in OT GAC beat Cambridge in PKs (1-1 in regulation, 4-2 in pks) Marist scored with just over a minute left to tie the game, then scored a minute into the second OT period (ridiculous shot from 27 yards out) and hung on to win it. Same player scored the last 2 goals, plus a PK earlier in the game, to finish her high school career with a hat trick in the state championship game. A few months after being one of the key players on Marist's state championship basketball team. Pretty incredible run to finish out her prep career.
