I think you will be able to tell a bit from the game tonight, but perhaps not as much as you may think. I say this bc USC is the king of 1/0 games. USC is very well coached and plays great D. They find a way to score and then clamp down on D waiting to counter. Meanwhile, I think that UGA's team D and keeping has improved--so they should keep it close. Key to game and UGA's season is if it can score and perhaps win a few 1/0 games like USC. UGA hasn't done much scoring against Power 5 teams over the past few years.

Both coaches need to go and half the team. AD should have hired new coaching for this year.

Georgia play LSU tonight. A game that they should be able to win. LSU is in disarray since Brian Lee left. This is a game that UGA need to get. This might be one of the easier game on the schedule

Yea - what’s the scoop with LSUs coach leaving? More money at Rice?

Yea - what’s the scoop with LSUs coach leaving? More money at Rice? I have a mutual friend who knows Brian. According to him he was not enjoying himself with the pressure of the SEC and the low pay from LSU. Also was very difficult to recruit the player that he wanted Brian is more of a coach that looks at the overall student athlete. at LSU is was about winning and not developing the person in his mind. At Rice he can recruit the true student athlete Also not a great recruiting area in LA.

Best chance for a W and we let it slip by. IMO Georgia doesn't win a game for the rest of the year. Hopefully the AD finally steps up and makes some changes. Do know who to get but we need some new blood that can get us over the hump.

I still can’t believe uga has a soccer team, have never heard anything positive about them. Or anyone ever wanting to play for them. Now Gsu, State, Kennesaw, C-bus, and Valdosta these all seem like top soccer schools compared to uga.

Here is my problem with UGA soccer. Sure, you can make an argument about Purdue vs Ga. My issue is comparing Ga toother SEC teams. Bottom line, with the revenue coming in to the AD, the guys and gals on Mahogony Row don't seem to feel the need to invest more.
You might can amke a claim why Purdue or some other school should be better than Ga, but NO WAY we should take a back seat to South Carolina, Tenn and Ky.
If you defend that then you are making excuses.

It's not about the money and Title IX. That is window dressing. We have women's soccer so that other point is moot. The issue is WHY UGA soccer stinks.
Fix it! Why does Ole m Iss beat us? South Carolina? Are they in better recruiting areas? No.

Look at the rosters of the Division 2 schools in the state, they have some top notch players from in-state. They are also top scholars and many chose to go to the Division 2 school because they win.

I followed it on twitter than forget to check it again once it got to OT. But they missed a pk right and had 34 shots with 18 on goal!
Must win game though, LSU has some nice pieces but doesn't understand at all how to play as a team, and even though youth soccer tries to direct us otherwise, its a team sport!

Possibly, but if you get a full-ride to D2 and a partial or half to D1, its a tough choice.
uga definitely has some what I would call mediocre D1 players.

We need to officially burn this thread. The crazy people have joined. Unbelievable! I think this is a not-very-nice statement on your part. There are some very strong players on D2 rosters. UGA is NOT a destination D1 school for soccer despite it being in the SEC and being the only flagship state university in Georgia with soccer. (By flagship I mean that it is the most desired state school for most non soccer playing kids. This is not meant to disparage the other state schools that are also strong and rising in academic quality). UGA is highly desired by many kids, but most of the best and even better soccer players don't want to go there. Why? I don't know. We must also remember that kids have lots of different reasons for choosing a college even outside of the athletic options. Some kids like a smaller school. Some like a city school. Some want to go into a particular career where UGA may not have the best program (like nursing for example). Some may want particular internship possibilities. Money offered plays a HUGE part in it. From an athletic standpoint...maybe the kid wants to play a lot as a freshman and would rather be at a school where they know that is more likely. It is not crazy to say that there are some really great players at D2 schools. At a summer ID camp my daughter went to the head coach of a D1 school told the players there that once you get outside the top 50 D1 schools, most D3 schools can beat the remaining D1 schools more often than not. UGA need to figure out where they are going wrong. They need to get more out of their existing players or get better players.

This is almost correct. The strong academic schools are D3, not D2.. but they don't offer scholarships.
Schools like U of Chicago, MIT, etc.. these are D3.

It’s time for a change. The players are just as much to blame half of them play with no sense of urgency. The “star” striker is terrible. And not a threat against any team. Lazy!

I just looked up their roster...most of the Georgia girls played at CF and TH ECNL. One or two UFA and AFU (though in many cases they did not say what team...just listed all the championships they had in high school or for club which is strange for a power 5 D1 school to do). Some of the girls were GNT players for US and other countries. These ladies should be able to play...and play with urgency. Team culture and coaching have a lot to do with how players play the game. I don't know if blaming the players is right.

Coaching obviously to blame as well. No doubt. But the players should be able to play at this level especially the upperclassmen.

Looked pretty good today away against Mizzou. Can't argue with the scoreline and the parts that I watched (AU was on too so I only caught 25 minutes of UGA game) Georgia looked pretty strong. Maybe I am being overly optimistic, but they look like they are improving.

I'm sure the girls on the team are loving it, since it seems to me like they're in every game. And, they go to one badass University.

Shout out to UGA for the win on Sunday at Mississippi State. They could make the tourney. Watched a lot of Women's college soccer on TV lately. UGA is not in the top tier by a pretty good margin as of right now. Maybe the new freshmen and next recruiting class can light a spark. Not overly impressed by either team on Sunday.

I wouldn't disagree with that statement, but the "top tier" is really only about 20 teams nationally. They are not as far off as i previously thought based on how they progressed this year. Just some key pieces still needed and they still dont have that one or two stars that jump off the screen when watching them. (like A&M, UF, USC, top tier programs)

My general thought is just by showing up they should every year be at least middle of the pack in the SEC vs at the cellar. So props to them for at least now being an average team. Baby steps, make the SEC tourney and hopefully make the NCAA tourney. The billion dollar question --- how is Arkansas at the top of the SEC standings. Arkansas? As anyone ever played a youth girls team from Arkansas? Are they usually good?
