Too much to read. Are there specific posts stating Beach and Legends 2nd teams are in GA and top teams in ECRL on that forum from an actual parent of those clubs? Only thing I read that mentioned anything related from the link you sent was that the top teams would play both ECRL and GA and that they expected big blowouts in ECRL. I'm not sure that's true as far as playing both but they mentioned that's what it appeared based on coaching assignments etc. Again I didn't keep reading through all the pages of posts so there might have been something stating what you are saying. I just didn't see it. But it does make me wonder would ECNL really look to "promote" a club based on ECRL results? I have a hard time believing that decisions to add clubs next year would have a lot to do with standings in ECRL next year. I personally think the league already knows who they will add next year and that decision has more to do with the club reputation/ quality in recent history than standings of their second tier league. This is only my opinion

Yes, there are parents from Beach and Legends posting there, along with parents from the other 2 former GDA clubs(West Coast FC and Pateadores) who will be in ECRL. All 4 clubs are desperate to get into ECNL.

I still don't see where that is said other than one person saying they think that might be the case but I also saw several posts stating they don't really believe there will be any promotion/relegation from ECRL to ECNL that ECNL will select who they want to select. That's what i think will happen also. ECNL has never looked to promote teams based on play in the past so i doubt it would happen now unless it was clearly defined and stated as a pathway.

My DD has decided that she wants to stick with her Coac and Club despite a 2nd tier league. she is willing to play in ECRL and has a massive chip on her shoulder to prove a point." The part about whether they will be able to get promoted is pure speculation. ECNL has not given any of the clubs any guarantees. They clubs look to be rolling the dice on the promotion part. Doesn't make sense for them to crush these other clubs second teams, but we shall see when the scores start to come in.

The families of those clubs requested that their top teams play in ECRL, and the clubs told them that they'd honor their wishes and place their top teams there with the hope of gaining full admission to ECNL. This been open knowledge in SoCal for weeks. Read thread from the following post to the bottom of the page for more details: www.socalsoccer.com/threads/ga-showcases.19007/page-3#post-336354If your DOC is telling you that those SoCal DOCs told them that their top teams will be in GA instead of ECRL next year, either: 1) The SoCal DOCs are lying to your DOC 2) Your DOC is lying to you 3) The SoCal DOCs are lying to the families in their club If it's #3 and those top teams are playing in GA instead of ECRL next year, and the DOCs lied to the their families while going against their wishes, those clubs will have a total revolt on their hands.

Not to rehash this too much but based on the GA team reps announced today several of the team reps played on Beach and Legends DA teams. I have to imagine they are not on the club's 2nd team this year...

Also with college sports canceling I think there is also some question on how or if it affects youth sports happening.

Mixed. 4 games in and any competition tends to be at later ages. The 08 team won 7-0, 7-0, 12-0, 12-0.

I do know that IMG does tend to be weaker at the younger ages and gets stronger as they get into the high school ages. Not sure why Weston was so weak at 08 except they supposedly had two studs playing up 3 age groups. How well did that 08 Tophat team do last year in SCCL and is it roughly the same team?

They didn’t play SCCL, they played up in 07 tourneys and won all but 1. They won WAGS too.

Team is also intact from last year. Only one stud left. I believe you mean this as a compliment but I think maybe we should not be using words like Studs with 11/12 year old girls. Having said that, this is definitely a team to keep an eye on if they can keep everyone in the fold. I believe some came from UFA, side note: does that mean UFA gets credit for developing them, JK. Nevertheless, from what I've been told by a parent on the 2nd team, she says they are definitely akin to an all-star team. From looking at their schedule, I highly doubt they lose a game in their division, especially at the pace at which they are scoring 38 goals for and nada against. With all that said, I am unsure of the GA showcase, post season and nationals at this level but if they do have it, folks better start saving their acorns now. That will be a lot of travelling unless it is in the southeast and that is on top of already having to go to Florida to play most of your away games. Finally, knowing the folks at NTH, being this good of a team, it will invoke the NTH Tournament clause, so I anticipate a minimum of 3-4 tournaments outside of the area. My one question then is this, will they stay together if NTH does NOT get ECNL,...

I stand corrected. Fair enough. They came from UFA and GSA and SSA and AFC last year at u12. This team maybe has 2-3 original TH kids. It’s definitely a collection of talent.
I don’t think the travel is a big deal. Might be for some, but some like it. If you collect all the talent, you are doing to have to travel to find competition.
I’d think ECNL is a must for next year to keep it going. JMO.

If the team is a strong as it looks it won't matter what league they are in they will still be dominant hence the need to travel and play up in tournaments. I hope the parents have more sense to wait until U15 prior to making any movements for league related reasons. It is premature IMO. A team like this gets more out of their training sessions than games anyway. Train against the best (each other) and you will improve. Just my 2 cents

I respectfully disagree. I worry GALS will end up proving a waste of time for many of these TH teams...at least this year. The competition just isn't there. And while it's great that they can train against each other in practice, beating terrible competition 12-0 actually gets old quickly and isn't a lot of fun. And it certainly doesn't make you better. These girls train hard and the games are supposed to be the payoff that they find fun and keeps them engaged. If the only competition they face is practice, it becomes more like a job. They can try and supplement the league schedule with tournaments, but there are only so many with good competition and I just heard Disney might not happen. Friendlies are another option, but there aren't a lot clubs that are anxious to do Tophat favors and many are unwilling to schedule them. If Tophat doesn't get ECNL next year, an elite player would be crazy to stay there, in my opinion. I really think it's make or break for TH. I think Atlanta soccer will be better with TH in ECNL. But I don't get to make that decision.
They 2008 team is very, very strong. Fast and impressive. And I think their coach is strong. But there is no informational value to be gleaned from their GALS games.

But there is no informational value to be gleaned from their GALS games. I understand what you are saying but here are a few counterarguments. First, Georgia opened up to soccer playing this summer WAY earlier than either Florida or North Carolina. NC teams were still socially distanced practices in the beginning of August so these teams have not been training together like Tophat has been (even Tophat trainings were much more game like than the majority of the clubs around...having kids at multiple clubs I can say this with personal experience). Secondly this team played up as other parents have said and did 11v11 play a lot already and these other teams have not done nearly as much if at all depending on when their seasons were cut off so they have not the same level of experience with the positional awareness. Third IMG gets stronger with age and usually has weaker teams until they recruit kids in from multiple states. They have kids in older age groups from Tophat and San Diego surf among others. Fourth the ECNL clubs also have many games when they beat down (or get beat down) opponents. Look at some of the scores and my posts on the ECNL thread. Oh and didn't this team beat down their opponents just as badly at the CESA friendlies? I don't think this team (intact) would have much more competition in ECNL. Give it time and see how the season develops but also realize that great teams do have this issue where they dominate opposition. This is why teams play up in tournaments. I don't know why Weston 08 was also so weak except to say that I heard two 08 players played with the 05 Weston team. Finally GA will need time to develop a deeper pool of talent club wise and individual player wise and parents of 08 kids can afford to wait it out as they have at least 3 years before being seriously recruited. The GA leadership is strong and the player advisory panel has already asked for and gotten things that they wanted. Ask your DOC about playing stronger teams in crossover games. The older NTH teams are doing it. Tophat was planning to send an academy age team (U10 or U11) to Surf Cup this year before it got scrapped due to COVID. Get your team to play up in CASL (Wags or whatever they call it now) and ask for other tournaments (friendlies). How about you ask your coach to scrimmage older NTH teams like 06 Gold? You have many other options that make sense to address this year.

I've said it before, but nobody seems to listen.
The MAJORITY of GA nationally was DA 5 months ago and everyone thought it was amazing. All but.. 10(?) DA teams switched to GA. The entire northeast/midwest stayed put. But now the league sucks? Now who's chasing patches?

I hear you, OF. I just see it differently.
1). I don't believe the GALS competition will get better as NC and other geographies practice more. Beat downs are beat downs. And they occurred across the entire age spectrum, with the exception of the 2007 year where TH was completely gutted and is fielding teams with 12-13 players. If other GAL teams have decent depth and players/athletes who were just out of practice, those scores would have been 4-0...3-0. I just don't think the competition will getting better in that league with more practice time. 2). IMG does get better in older age groups when recruiting heats up. But why would an Atlanta player want to wait years for one other team to catch up? 3). ECNL absolutely has pockets of weakness that result in lopsided scores. But it's nothing like GALS (so far). The talent in Atlanta is inefficiently dispersed due to these two competing leagues. If you are a current elite player on the younger end of the spectrum with long term goals, what do you want to bet on? Gals attracting more talent in Atlanta and Florida or GALS talent defecting to the stronger/more proven league. We are also looking at GALS in just Atlanta. I am guessing any talent that remains at GALS programs in Florida will consider leaving after this year. 4). In 2008, GSA and Concorde might not be as vaunted as Tophat. They are both better than any team Tophat will see at GALS this year. And you don't have to travel to play them. Then layer in stronger Florida programs. ECNL, while not perfect, is deeper than GALS across the board right now.
Look, as I noted above, I would like to see Tophat join ECNL next year. I just have no idea if its in the cards. You have to believe programs like IMG will drop GALS in a hot minute if they can get into ECNL.
I do understand what you are saying and you make good points. I just think GALS remains a leap of faith with more downside risk than upside.

I agree soccerbro with a lot that you are saying. The scores last weekend were not universal beat downs by Tophat across all age groups. 05 gold lost to Weston. 06 gold and 02/03 gold had some draws. I just don't like to watch people make snap judgment. See what happens over time. Don't make decisions now.
I agree on the travel to play good teams. It would be nice to play good teams locally.
The team would end up being broken up which would not help the kids in the long run. The training against the best really does help more than a few games of good competition. The coaches are also more important than the league especially pre-high school age.
Oh and the chances of Tophat getting ECNL are slim to none.
