09 girl just got an email for another tryout this coming Sunday. Did everyone get that or have they already made some cuts? I'm not sure if they have made cuts yet, but I do know they have made offers already. A friend received a call on Saturday offering his daughter a spot after she attended the tryout last Friday.

I'll be curious to see how long it takes to reach out to the new players wanting an evaluation. I know my daughter would have been really happy if they had come to watch her game this past Sunday since she had a really good game. My guess is the "Scout Team" wants to fill the '09 roster first, then they will move onto the potential new player evaluations for the older ages. We just have no idea when that will be.

Not knowing when you’re gonna be scouted just means the players have to play and practice like someone is watching. No slacking or goofing off when you’re on the pitch.

I just received the email that we are to the final stage of evaluations, which is to attend the first training session...tomorrow.
- The first practice is being held this Friday, October 23rd from 7-9 PM at Arizona Avenue Fields: 161 Arizona Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307. - Please note that only NEW players will be at the first training session! - After this first session, players will then be invited to the second practice on November 1st with the returning players.

Got an email to attend a Sunday practice with both new & returning players. Assuming it's probably based on the size of the pool at each age & gender. Ours is probably small.
I highly doubt they actually scouted all of these players, maybe they just made a coach phone call. Who knows. We will see what Sunday looks like to decide if it's a good option for extra training or not. Our only goal is to find extra practice with skilled players who have abilities above the team we're on now.

Yeah, our (2006 girls) first practice is returning and new players this Friday night. Our pool is likely still very small also. About 75% of the players are returning, notable exceptions are some ECNL players (which makes sense).

How are those $45 evaluations going? The $45 evaluations for the 2009s were terrible. They gave the kids T-shirts with numbers printed on the back and then proceeded to have half of the kids wear solid green Publix pennies so that the coaches could not see the numbers. The entire night I only saw one coach ask a kid wearing a penny what his number was.

Between U14 and U15 ECNL the games in the fall double (or 1.5x due to COVID this year). So ECNL is a lot more intensive starting at U15. Of the 7 ECNL players in the pool last year, so far we know 2 of them won't be back, but I suspect it'll be 4-5 (3 of them moved to CF Platinum and GSA). Plus they're doing showcases in December/January which is prime ODP time.

Looking for girls to practice with where she is challenged to complement their skills while showcasing and improving hers.

Smart planning if they had a ton of new players to see how they train and play to filter out the weakest players before putting them on the same field with the squad. How did it go? For the 2007 girls, there were 30 players that showed up, 2 of them being GKs. Of the 2 GKs, one should definitely make it. We have seen her in the past and think she could be the best 2007 keeper in the state. I guess she didn't play ODP last year, so she was at tryouts this year. Of the remaining 28, my daughter believes about a dozen were attacking players and the remaining 16 were either midfielders or defenders. For the first hour they warmed up, the coach went around to speak with every player to find out who they were (no shirts or numbers were given to the players), and they divided into 6 teams of 5 to play small sided 5v5. For the second hour they split in half and scrimmaged 11v11. As expected, there were some talented players and some that couldn't quite keep up. Based on training jerseys worn, we are guessing at most there were 10 girls there from the Big-6 and the remainder were from small/mid sized clubs around the state. At the end of the session, all the girls were told is we should receive an email from Georgia Soccer by the end of day Monday with potential next steps. Depending on how many they want to keep from this group, IMO they will invite 12-18 to the Sunday session with the rest of the team on Sunday 11/1.

How did the Friday night practice and tryouts go? How many trying out? 06G had a big session, around 40 girls. The total number being evaluated is over 50 (18-19 returning). More big clib girls as evidenced by a few girls in hatters, SSA, CF and UFA shirts. Assiming the hatters were all recommended by their former coach who appears to be one of the age group coaches unfortunately (this reeks of the OLD ways of ODP favoritism to me). Guess they didnt get the memo not to wear club-branded gear to ODP. Without numbers on shirts though, I'm not sure how they actually evaluated anyone. 07G next field only had around 25.

There were exactly 30 in the 07G field, my daughter was one of them. Speaking of wearing the non-club branded gear, my daughter was the only player in the 07G session I saw with a generic shirt on. All the other girls wore some sort of club gear. If I recall correctly, you are an AFU dad. Were you the only AFU family there for the 06G session? There weren't any there for the 07G session. We were hoping to run into some families we knew from when we were there, but no such luck.

Anyway, anyone have the training schedule details for the '06 girls?

Your hatters weren't the only ones in club gear, so they didn't communicate it well (seriously, how hard is it to send an email?). I don't get why it would have been tough for them to print up the 1000 $4 shirts for tryouts and the new training year. There were some 400 that paid $45 for evaluation. It takes until December to get the ODP "kit", so until then everyone will need to have something to wear. The 2009 pools are over 50, we will have to wait and see how big the rest of the pools are. I think someone posted above that the 07's said they can expect to receive an email tonight. Maybe that's true for all? If your kid makes the pool, look for the 2006 ODP page for schedule. There is also a Teamsnap page everyone will be invited to. www.georgiasoccer.org/odp/06-girls/

That sucks. Ours was not like that. We had 3 coaches walking around on the field watching what the girls were doing. My daughter was approached twice by a coach to ask her questions, and verify who she was. So, I would say she did something to get noticed. With the above being said, I have a feeling they might have reached out to our club coach and received a scouting report. They seemed to already know some about the players, including what positions they played. Also, the starting 22 for the 11v11 game seemed to be pretty spot on from what I could tell.
