Honestly, can't even keep track of this roster -- going to be hard for any young players to crack into this lineup. Bello and Robinson and the only ones. Anyone know more about Robinson's youth playing days prior to Syracuse?

Anyone know more about Robinson's youth playing days prior to Syracuse? It’s strange-on Wikipedia he shows up at Syracuse. He’s a ghost before then. Someone should go in there and make something up...like being personally trained by Zizou or something 😂

Anyone know more about Robinson's youth playing days prior to Syracuse? Prior to his career at the Cuse, Robinson played in the now defunct US Soccer Development Academy(DA). Miles was a 4-year center back for FC Bolts Celtic under Coach Brian Ainscough and I believed was twice named to the All-Eastern Conference Starting XI at U-15 and U16. He may or may not have been Captain his last two years before graduating and moving on to Syracuse. The rest as they say is HIStory...

Speaking of Home-grown I have been hearing from parents that alot of the AU academy's have been assessing players in at least the 2006 and 2007 that I know of. This is in the last 2 weeks and it's been more than a few who went. How long does it usually take them to make a call back or decision when the boys go to a session or two?

Darren Eales and Emojis... www.mlssoccer.com/post/2021/03/05/atlanta-united-president-darren-eales-reveals-origins-his-emoji-transfer-teasersSince becoming president of Atlanta United, Darren Eales has emerged as one of Major League Soccer's foremost executives when it comes to interacting and engaging with supporters. The 48-year-old Englishman often teases Atlanta's new acquisitions with cryptic tweets and code names, typically through the use of emojis, which leaves Five Stripes fans scrambling to figure out which player might be inbound. Eales explained the tradition on the latest episode of The Call Up, revealing that it dates back to his days in England's top divisions and his work at West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham Hotspur. "I'd always have code names for signings we were going for, because when you're emailing, talking, particularly in the Premier League, you've got to keep everything concise as you can," Eales explained. "So I'd always have code names for the signings we were working on. One of the early [Atlanta] ones was Darlington Nagbe. So nag [means] horse in England, so I called him 'horse wasp.' So, 'do you think Portland would trade horse wasp?' And that was the chat. "So when we did Nagbe, we did the horse wasp emojis and that was the first one. For me, quite sadly, it's probably the funnest part of the job. I love doing it. I think 2020 was a great example. We can get so caught up in the world of soccer and thinking it's the most important thing in the world of soccer and thinking it's the most important thing in the world and we forget we're in the entertainment industry. There's ups and downs, there's far bigger things out there that matter more than sport. So for me, I quite like just having fun with the fans on trying to come up with something different."

First, I find it interesting that multiple parents can watch the same game and come up with different results(chuckle). Secondly, here are the results I got from 4 different sets of parents...
AU vs Inter Miami U12: 1-6 or 0-7 U12: 0-4 or 0-5 U13: 1-4 U14: 2-0 U15: 0-0 U17: 4-3 or 5-3
U16s: The AU U16s played the new MLS Next team addition Lou Fusz(not sure if they were U16s or older) final 4-3 or 5-3

This is in the last 2 weeks and it's been more than a few who went. How long does it usually take them to make a call back or decision when the boys go to a session or two? Not sure what age group your kid or friends of yours are, but here is information garnered from 3 parents at AU, all on different aged teams 14s, 15s, 17s. Good-luck... Sometimes the boys are brought in, I think to keep the current players on their toes. Did the kid play in a scrimmage with the current team, if not then I don't think the kid stands a chance. AU is always bringing in boys for 'trials' if my kid knows the player's name the player is good, otherwise he's no bueno. Have them ask the AU coaches and management(ala TA) what the next steps are, especially if they get positive feedback. We had a kid who played in non-league scrimmages with us for all of spring season before joining us the next year-long season. Most of the boys who come to trials try to overdo it and end up looking bad, I always feel for them because they cannot match the pace of the current AU players. I hear AU gives boys trials to appease the DOCs and keep that relationship. If the kid is good, the boys will let us parents know quickly, otherwise they are ruthless. I have seen players who join the club immediately in the middle of the season and I have seen players who join at the end of the season. Depends on their current club. We had one kid who was put on the team as a full member of the team and another who had to return to train for 6 weeks once the season started before he was formally offered a spot. Some players are brought in on trials to replace current non-producing players and will be offered a spot almost immediately, while others are being looked at as replacements when the season is over.

Yes, I hear AU may be giving up 50% of his future transfer fee to make the deal work. Are the CBs outside of Miles that we have on the roster that bad?

Yes, I hear AU may be giving up 50% of his future transfer fee to make the deal work. Are the CBs outside of Miles that we have on the roster that bad? Here is what Doug Roberson had to say on how that works: www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-united/atlanta-united-reportedly-signs-centerback/ZK7VPQHKGND35APVCPZ7J7B2HU/Martinez reports that the transfer is for $2.8 million, less than his transfermarkt.us estimated market value of $4.4 million, for 50 percent of the player’s rights. Should he appear 15 times for Atlanta United, the club must pay Independiente an additional $200,000. The kicker is that each year Atlanta United can buy more of a percentage of the remaining 50 percent of rights from Independiente. In effect, should he stay at Atlanta United for two years, and play well enough to be sold for a fee higher than the price Atlanta United paid for him, the club will retain a higher percentage of the revenues from the sale.

Thanks for the reply, good stuff. Between my son and 7 other boys that have played in scrimmage and some training with 06 and 07, 6 have been asked to come back out for additional sessions. I was wondering what the chances were like. AU came to several games to watch in the Fall season request my son to play up on his clubs team to watch him play against the 06 AU. Now been to the facility to be looked at more than once. Most of the boys I know play pick up with some of the 06 and 07 AU boys and have no problem keeping pace of play. I guess we will see what happens in the weeks to come.Thank again for the info.

From my experience the top 10-20%(player 1 through 4 etc) of kids on most top level teams can play with or for AU with no problems.

FG as usual all knowing Stephen Glass is new Aberdeen manager per AU twitter account Whos acting AU2 coach - TA still? I am taking a guess here but I just don't see TA wanting this gig on a permanent basis. I wonder if like Glass, the current U17 Academy Coach - Jack Collison will be the one who takes over AU2. He played with Bournemouth, Wigan and of course West Ham United. Plus like Glass he's from the UK, hailing from Wales. I hope they find an outsider to take the AU2 team on a personal basis. The Academy benefits from having someone like Jack at the pivotal U17 age group... Just my 2 1/2 cents.
