I like the 1st and 3rd developments listed, lukewarm on the Glass news (I’m being harsh, though, as he was fine with the 2’s previously).
Saw from a few sources on Twitter that Caicedo was working on getting his EU work permit/passport, so he’s likely off to Manchester United instead of Atlanta United.

I don't know how Atlanta would fit Caicedo in with the 3 DP spots filled. I assume that would mean moving Barco.

Even in the meantime, IIRC we have stockpiled quite a bit of TAM that could offset plenty of a year or two’s worth of salary for a high level player (still doubtful over Caicedo though)

Head Coach Gabriel Heinze has added five members to his technical staff for the 2021 MLS season, Atlanta United announced Monday.
Assistant coaches Mariano Toedtli, Nicolas Pavlovich and Pedro Mateo Leivas, fitness coach Javier Vilamitjana and video analyst Diego Navone will join current goalkeeper coach Liam Curran to round out Heinze’s first team staff. Stephen Glass, who filled in as interim head coach for the second half of the season, has returned to his role with Atlanta United 2, along with Henry Apaloo. Tony Annan continues his role as academy director and Rob Valentino remains as a staff coach with a focus on player development.

I just saw where they are supposedly signing a 37 year old striker. Oh and of course he’s from Argentina if you were wondering. I would rather them just play the kids instead of having a striker in his late thirties whose name isn’t Zlatan come in and take valuable minutes.

Maybe this is the 3rd string striker, I guess only time will tell.

I would think in the next year or two (if Homegrown successful, they will look to flip and make some $$ off of.

It's a pretty fascinating difference it seems with soccer and 18-22 year olds.
in football and hoops -- kids can't wait until it's their turn, might not be until their junior or senior year, but when their time comes, they step up and don't seem to have ever missed a beat. They had time to develop physically and mentally mature as a player.
It seems in soccer, man if you don't play in competitive games for a few years, its brutal to get back into stride.

Loading the next batch of Homegrown prospects.... www.dirtysouthsoccer.com/2021/1/27/22240709/who-will-be-atlanta-uniteds-next-homegrown-signingWho are you excited about or see as true potential HG signees? From the little I know, here are my potential picks, some well known, some quiet studs. Easiest to pick are the 2004s, had an insider on that team since the beginning. Toughest year for me to pick were the 2005s, they have 5/6 that could be mentioned, but based on behind the scenes discussions with the brass, these are the ones that could be household names. Vicente has punched higher than his weight class all his career so no surprise there... 2002s - Will Reilly & Ajani Fortune 2003s - Vicente Reyes & Kobey Stoup 2004s - Caleb Wiley & Nigel Prince 2005s - Elijah Buford & Mathieu Brick & Remi Okunlola Some may know them this way. 2002s - Reilly & Ajani 2003s - Vicente & Kobey 2004s - Caleb & Prince 2005s - Buford & Brickie & Remi

|never heard of any of these players before today| Well thanks for using proper English, but if you have never heard of these three boys before then you haven't watched much of the 2005 age group. All three boys are excellent soccer players-best of the best.

Missing a lot of good players. Some of the 05's that are playing up u17 and even U19 are not even mentioned. LOTS of development time. Some HG have been offered but not accepted, (College HG) route is additional 4 years after Academy.
Over 30 players in College right now have the HG tag so AU can exercise that before Super Draft.
In the up and coming years, AU will have at least 5 HG College options plus 1 or 2 Academy options per year. LOVE it!!

Apparently Atlanta United is the only MLS Club slated to get a 3rd Kit. Adidas granted the request because AU consistently met the numbers attractive enough to warrant a 3rd kit. Rumor has it at 100K kits sold, but Adidas refuses to confirm that number: en.as.com/en/2021/02/03/football/1612383910_399521.html
