Wow. I guess I expected a little more out of Dunwoody. I thought maybe they’d be as tough a test as Walton. Looks like some great match ups ahead in 7A.

6A girls 4 of the remaining 8 are from region 7. Toughest region in 6A with a solid showing thus far.
Should be 4 great games coming up Monday night
Cambridge/Pope Buford/Chattahoochee Lassiter/Johns Creek Richmond Hill/River Ridge

Watched 7A Lambert girls play last night….. just ridiculous officiating! I watched one kid play absolutely reckless the entire night, to include throwing elbows and fouls up and down the pitch. Our club team has the most physical CDM in the league but she plays aggressive and within the rules of the sport. It’s always the marginal players with that stuff ! When will players learn that all that reckless crap never leads to consistent winning? Just injured players. As a general tip - it’s better not to denigrate a minor on a public forum. Even if you are right. Recommend remove the number as I’ve done in my quote.

Buford is a very physical team with some highly skilled club players. Their record is impressive, but if you look closer they went 12-0 in what looks like a relatively weak region. I watched them beat Johns Creek this weekend pretty handily, but JC also looked to play deep into their bench I assume to get time in for playoffs. To get to the finals they'll have to go through three top 10 6A teams to do it (Glynn, the Houston County/Chattahoochee winner then likely the Lassiter/Johns Creek winner, so they'll certainly earn it if they do. As for that specific Cambridge player, even if you manage to shut her down (Chattahoochee did and still lost 2-0) I believe they have a couple other D-I commits offensively that can pick it up, but I do think everyone is beatable after the 1st round so I think these a lot of these games will be fun to watch if you have no rooting interest in any of them at least(if you do they may not be so fun much lol). I think if we take a little closer look at all of the region play for all the top girls’ teams we will see compatible completion levels. Then we can take a little deeper dive into non-region play, stats, differentials, and now that the play-off have started consider who has played and their differentials. Any team can make an excuse on why they didn’t play well or how they chose to play each game…but all excuses. I don’t know a coach that goes into a game with a game plan to play deep into their bench so they can lose, especially when it’s an opportunity to make a statement leading into the play-offs. Ultimately it comes down to wins and losses. Strength of the entire team and it is pretty evident how well a coach has prepared the team to play more talented teams. We can all see good sound team soccer and we can all see when one or two players carry the team. In my experience that will ultimately lead to the team’s demise when playing stronger teams. So now. I think I look at all the remaining teams and consider the team that has position for position outstanding players (all players, striker to keeper) that play great team soccer because they are well coached. These are my clear picks based on that margin… 7a - Mill Creek 6a - Buford 5a - Blessed Trinity 4a - Marist 3a - West Minister 2a - Bremen 1a - Commerce 1 Private - Brookstone

Wow! That is a shocker to me! I figured Buford would get to the final. Gotta put some respect on Region 7 in 6A, battle tested region games mean a lot in the playoffs no easy outs so not a surprise . 2 years in a row now 3 of the final 4 are from 7 as well.

In 7A we (Peachtree Ridge) fail to Alpharetta tonight 2-0... They have a solid midfielder and striker that play on a higher level for sure. Never like to lose but the better team won tonight.

Girls 7A should be interesting.
Unranked Alpharetta seems to have come out of nowhere to make the final four. West Forsyth seems to be hitting on all cylinders and peaking at the right time of the season.
Alpharetta also played every other team in the final four during the season and lost all three games, including a 5-2 loss to West a month ago. Will be interesting to see if they can get some revenge as they will need to beat two teams they have already lost to in order to win the title.

I watch two of games that Alpharetta lost to these teams and to be honest if the officiating was better they would not have lost (Just saying) they beat us so I'm not going to hate on them. Either way I will be watching to see what they do I always like a good game.

Some good games tonight in 6A boys. Not strong on knowing the boys side compared to the girls but some really good games
Dalton I believe will have a tough game against Glynn Academy but should win by 2. River Ridge/Lakeside. Game of the night. Tough to choose a winner here but I will go with RR because of the home field advantage. Central Gwinnett in my mind should have an easy time getting by Lee County. Lassiter struggles first 5 minutes then dominates Grovetown. (I am a homer). Lassiter boys/girls make it to Macon. Lots of hope and praying

Wow! That is a shocker to me! I figured Buford would get to the final. Heard it was a controversial call in the box that resulted in a PK that was made. Heard it was fight the whole game. But that was from a Buford parent/fan.

I agree. Buford is a solid team with great coaching and had a tremendous season but they have mercy ruled and shut out many teams this season and I believe that they were not used to trailing. I think the last time they trailed was early in the season against Peachtree Ridge. Chattahoochee is also a great coached team with a solid defense that truly tested and probably shocked Buford last night. Congrats to Buford for a great season and also to Chattahoochee for the win. Doesn’t Buford move to 7A next year to the same region with Mill Creek? Congrats also to Mill Creek for advancing to the next round.

Wow! That is a shocker to me! I figured Buford would get to the final. Heard it was a controversial call in the box that resulted in a PK that was made. Heard it was fight the whole game. But that was from a Buford parent/fan. (Speaking as a Chattahoochee parent) It was a clear take down on the right side inside the penalty area but it was unnecessary as other Buford defenders were back, a little more than 20 minutes into the 1st half. It was a physical game, Buford had the majority of chances 9 shots on goal to 1 but Chattahoochee defense stopped a bunch of others from getting to goal and some others just off the mark. Maybe everyone outside of Chattahoochee is surprised with the result, this team may not have D-I athletes but they're pretty good and their path to the final 4 took them through #5 Houston County, #1 Buford and next up #3 Lassiter in a rematch of last year's 1st round match. Let's not make it sound like this was Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson
