UFA Norcross will have a rude awakening. Dan Dawson is going to Concorde Fire Central Dan Dawson is staying at Norcross Honestly, soccermom please don't give credence to unfounded rumors like 👆this. In other news or non-news, I'm still baffled that loads of clubs have not released their Coaching Projections 🤔It is just over 2 weeks before some have to actually do tryouts. You only have about 2 weeks to investigate your kids potential coach. What is their style of coaching, how do current and previous parents and players feel about them? Are they a good fit for your kid 😨

I know that we have a couple of Tophat coaches on this forum. Can you give us some updates on what your hearing. Do you know when they will be naming the new coaching staff for this year? Tryouts are getting very close and all we have heard from Tophat is a brief announcement about DPL. As if today they haven't even updated the website

Teams are competing in State Cup and SCCL Championshops, dont think its prudent to tell your teams the coach isn't coming back before important games.

If you need to tell them you're leaving to inspire a better performance then nothing is going to help them

The SCCL Championships and State Cup are the weekend before tryouts begin. If clubs are really holding the lists for that reason, coaches will not be released until tryouts. The coach of one of my kids' teams has already told the parents and players that he will not be back with the team next year. Since then, the team has already one tournament. It is rumored that the other kid's coach is not coming back but he will not tell anyone anything. So instead, everyone gossips about it. Honesty really is the best policy.

If you need to tell them you're leaving to inspire a better performance then nothing is going to help them It was mainly a joke, but you see it all of the time in major sports. College football is a great example. Happens there all of the time. Frankly, I think to wait until right before tryouts is not right. It is likely a lot less about winning state cup or SCCL cup and more about trying to stop kids/parents from having the time to look elsewhere and decide what might be a better fit. I would counter your above statement with this...if they will NOT perform at their best DESPITE their coach leaving them, then they need help with their motivation. Self-motivation is what will get them far in life...they shouldn't need their coach to motivate them.

So, any coaching updates for clubs other than UFA? Seems no info on the websites for the other clubs?

That may be true but I think people come or stay at NTH for the brand and reputation more so than who the coach is.

Alex Wright moved to GSA? There were rumors that he was going to leave after this year (2018-2019). Part of that was rumored to be the high school vs club rule with your players. But also as I mentioned in a previous post, LSA will be losing more players come tryouts.

But also as I mentioned in a previous post, LSA will be losing more players come tryouts. Any idea on what age groups will be forming at LSA on the girls side, what level they will be playing, and is there information out on coaches yet? Why are some of there players and coaches leaving? I expect LSA will still have all girls age groups including the 05 team. It is a convenient place for many that live around there and this team (05) has done well enough the last few years to continue to attract some players. LSA always loses some elite level girls. It starts usually around U12. This team and the 03 team held together longer because they were strong, but last year 05 lost their keeper and one forward to UFA DA and there are at least 3 more that I expect to leave this year. All 3 tried out elsewhere last year but decided to stay one more year because of the coach. But the coach was not going to be able to continue to coach them due to a high school/club conflict. Several parents on that team expected him to leave altogether as it appears he did. This attrition of players is not unusual in small clubs. Eventually they want to go play a higher level and get better exposure. The players and parents want more even distribution of talent, commitment, and work ethic on the team so they seek out ECNL, DA options.

Wow very interesting that GSA is not planning on having any Athena or Classic teams. Everything is SCCL or ECNL related. That’s going to lead to a lot more movement up for brackets, I’d say goodbye to Athena D and Classic 4 for good and a lot less C/4 brackets too.

Where will the rest of thier "or there" teams play. Have they shrunk so much that they ony have 2 teams per age?

3 per age group listed. ECNL, SCCL, SCCL-P. Im curious if they're just not announcing coaches for lower level teams (or if they may rely on volunteers?). I think they typically have 4-6 girls teams for most age groups.
Theres little reason to play there if you're below the SCCL-P, they didnt even put any teams into state cup, opting to have their tournament the same weekend.

Gsa typically only has 2-3 teams per age group even post Dacula takeover. I mean those 3rd teams are typically low Athena B/C or Classic 2/3 level so having them play SCCL-P I’m sure will scare even more kids away. They’re definitely the smallest amongst the Big Six.

There are currently 5 05G teams (ECNL, SCCL, Athena A, 2 Athena C). In the fall: 04 had 6 (ECNL, SCCL, Athena A, Athena B, 2x Athena C) 03's had 3 02's had 5 (ECNL, SCCL, 2x Athena A, Athena C) 01-00's had 4 (ECNL, ECNL-C, SCCL, Athena A) I guess they saw their change coming as they only had 3 06 teams. Meaning I guess they will push more girls to Chiefs, et al. I would guess that much like rec, your lower level teams help generate revenue to pay the coaches for your higher teams (due to lower teams having volunteer or low-level coaches).

I'd say they are just listing ECNL, SCCL and SCCL-P since that is in the heading and it is the ID camp page. I know 100% they have more teams than 3 in the younger age brackets (u12 had 7 or 8 academy teams).
